"RE: Episode Four" Entertainment Weekly The portions that I thought were particularly interesting: Dumbest move: What blew me away was the fact that Bob was picked so late in the process. Somebody is gonna pay for that one. Trust me, had you been standing in my shoes you would have been just as shocked. Bob is a worker and a competitor. To leave him up there that long tells me these guys are vulnerable for a smart player to wreak havoc on this game. That was a mistake. They’re under estimating him and that means they’re not paying attention. Best move: Kenny choosing Kelly. Kenny is playing to WIN. He’s taking chances. Kelly seemed like a ridiculous choice and Kenny played it as such saying he chose her because “she’s hot.” Lie. He chose her because he sensed a lost puppy in need of a home and he believed he could use her vote to further his own game ... Kelly (think Peigh-Gee) is also playing to win. Corrine is growing on me. Just sayin. There you go, Michel ... Ah, Matty swearing on his girlfriend. When did this happen? Will this come back to bite him (Matty) in the butt? Not sure I’d trust Ace. Check that, I’m sure I wouldn’t trust Ace. I don’t think Ace trusts Ace. Matty is vulnerable. He plays this game too honestly to have much of a shot at winning. G   Top

It shows Jeff just wrote this on the fly because what he calls the best move is also his dumbest move. Kenny could have picked Bob, Jeff says not picking Bob was dumb but says that Kenny picking Kelly was smart. Huhh?? I think what he meant was that picking Kelly was good for Kenny personally but forgetting Bob was bad for Kenny's tribe. This caught my eye: "Again, just being candid, as nice as Jacquie is (and she is extremely pleasant) she didn’t bring as much to the show from a character point of view….Why is it the attractive blonde women on our show are often the least interesting in reality? Jacquie was all about winning and she would have had a very good shot had she lasted a bit longer but we also need to entertain the audience and that wasn’t Jacquie’s strong suit. "RE: Episode Four" Um, Jeff, because too many of the attractive blond types are so used to getting by on looks alone they sometimes haven't done much to figure out any other stategy. I am sure there are some smart cookies out there that play by their wits and make a lot of moves but the casting peeps for these shows just have the blond cutie quota to fill and don't seem to care about anything but eye candy. If just being cute blond and poking your boobs out at the casting director is all it takes to fill the quota then I think you are likely to get just the cute blonds that figure they will just be given the prize because of their hair color and bone structure. I never know with Jeff how much he's willing to spill. That's what I was thinking too, OFG. Was this an oops moment giving away the F6, or was it what Survivor is most famous for - misdirection? I think a Randy/Corrine flip would make sense because they see themselves excluded from Marcus and Charlie for F2, whereas if they join Kenny, Crystal, Sugar and Matty they have numbers now ... and a better chance at F2 assuming they boot Matty at F5, or 4 at the latest. JPs comments on Dan left me thinking about Dan in real life as a nice guy .... but hasn't at least one person at one time commented on how Survivor is NOT about real life?   Top

Barely off, mind you, but off enough that we knew it was gonna bite them in the ass. Sounds like they merge this week then? I like the part about Crystal trying to do the Immunity Challenge. In fact, I wonder if with all the gloating by the castaways that they "knew" when the merge would be, if Jeff and the producers decided to mess with them and then came up with another tribal switch and II. That immunity challenge sure looked like the type of individual indurance challenge they do at merge. Regarding OFG's post #29. Charlie and Bob were just numbers, plus they both are smart, strong and have good endurance. Definately could win some immunities. Corinne and Randy (evil) versus Matty and Sugar (good) and Crystal and Kenny are in-between. It's food for thought and we'll see how it plays out! He and Sugar are going to be the swing voters when they merge, and they will be desparately needed by Crystal/Ken/Susie. If Matty is thinking long range, this is what I think he should do as well, BUT, unfortunately, I think Matty is playing a game on a moment to moment basis and I think he and Sugar are a bit emotional at this point. Randy enjoys having his first gay friend (another person who has never met many gay people, which is hard for me to imagine, but anyhow Randy isn't homophobic). The three of them are a lot of fun. She has done a very good job of staying in this game and staying out of the way. She could easily make it to the final vote. Susie is a question mark for me. She's riding coattails a bit, for sure, but she has done a good job of offering up her vote to the right people at the right time, and that has kept her out of the line of fire. Don't be surprised if she makes it to the final because everyone thinks they can beat her at the vote. Matty is a favorite. Has been from day one. I'm so happy he's still in the game. I just like how he wears his heart on his sleeve. Can he win? Yes. Can he make it to the end? Very difficult. He's an obvious target. Bob is another favorite of mine. Again, from day one. I like his straight-ahead approach, and I have a huge soft spot for Maine. Can he win? Yes. Can he get to the end? It's gonna be tough. He will probably have to win his way there through immunity challenges, otherwise I think they'll take him out. He has too many former tribemates on the jury. Kenny - I cannot believe Kenny is still in this game. I would have lost my house betting against him making it this far. He has an uphill battle if he's going to win because he has made a ton of enemies. But if he gets to the final with the right person or people, it could happen. Kenny could win this game. "RE: Episode 13" Regarding Brian- I still feel after all these seasons, that Brian was the most despicable player, not just winner, ever in Survivor. To tell you the truth, my opinion is largely colored by his audition tape, which shocked me immensely at the time. He revealed himself to be a sociopathic jerk who truly felt other people are just little bugs for him to snuff out. Not just in Survivor, but in life. I'm not sure those audition tapes can still be pulled up, but it would be interesting to do so. I despised him and can understand Jiffy's feelings.   Top

But just in terms of the game, Brian is easily one of the best winners in the game ever. He stayed cool and calm the entire way through, manipulated his tribemates and eliminated them when necessary, won challenges when he needed to, and never lost sight of the goal - the million dollars. If he acts like he did in the game in real life, then I agree that as a person I wouldn't care to hang out with him, but that doesn't change that in terms of the game of Survivor, he was one of the best players ever, if not the best. "RE: Episode 13" After watching the treatment of Crystal at "Ponderosa", Corinne is up there with Brian as the most despicable player ever. Brian at least did not brag about being a jerk and did not argue that the other players deserved what they got because they are inferior and subhuman. Brian took the money and kept his mouth shut. Corinne is without any redeeming qualities. Marcus is too immature to be entrusted with the responsibilities of a doctor. Randy is a pathetic, miserable human being and Charlie is the only one with enough sense to be embarassed by their behavior. The pure meanness in Corinne and her clique makes it difficult to watch Survivor as entertainment. Watching scum like Corinne is not entertaining; it is just painful.   Top

Now if 2 popular players split the vote the person with less friends on the jury can win. And with a F2 if the jury hated one person they just voted for the other one no matter who it was. Now they have 2 alternatives if they hate one of them. And yes, keeping them guessing whether it is a F2 of F3 is always good too. It means they have to change up their strategy at the last minute if they get too comfortable.   Top
