Entertainment WeeklyThe portions that I thought were particularly interesting: Dumbest move: What blew me away was the fact that Bob was picked so late in the process. Somebody is gonna pay for that one. Trust me, had you been standing in my shoes you would have been just as shocked. Bob is a worker and a competitor. To leave him up there that long tells me these guys are vulnerable for a smart player to wreak havoc on this game. That was a mistake. They’re under estimating him and that means they’re not paying attention. Best move: Kenny choosing Kelly. Kenny is playing to WIN. He’s taking chances. Kelly seemed like a ridiculous choice and Kenny played it as such saying he chose her because “she’s hot.” Lie. He chose her because he sensed a lost puppy in need of a home and he believed he could use her vote to further his own game ... Kelly (think Peigh-Gee) is also playing to win. Corrine is growing on me. Just sayin. There you go, Michel ... Ah, Matty swearing on his girlfriend. When did this happen? Will this come back to bite him (Matty) in the butt? Not sure I’d trust Ace. Check that, I’m sure I wouldn’t trust Ace. I don’t think Ace trusts Ace. Matty is vulnerable. He plays this game too honestly to have much of a shot at winning. G

LAST EDITED ON 10-11-08 AT 01:36 PM (EST)Yes Georjanna, Jeff is 1 week late in noting Corinne! It shows Jeff just wrote this on the fly because what he calls the best move is also his dumbest move. Kenny could have picked Bob, Jeff says not picking Bob was dumb but says that Kenny picking Kelly was smart. Huhh?? I think what he meant was that picking Kelly was good for Kenny personally but forgetting Bob was bad for Kenny's tribe. This caught my eye: "Again, just being candid, as nice as Jacquie is (and she is extremely pleasant) she didn’t bring as much to the show from a character point of view….Why is it the attractive blonde women on our show are often the least interesting in reality? Jacquie was all about winning and she would have had a very good shot had she lasted a bit longer but we also need to entertain the audience and that wasn’t Jacquie’s strong suit. So, if you have to lose someone, I guess Jacquie isn’t a bad person to lose. Just being honest, better her than Randy or Ace." Ouch!

Entertainment WeeklyOkay, it's time for one final column focusing on G.C. When G.C. disappeared before the challenge it was slightly annoying. He really did leave. Makes you wonder how much of what we see wasn't ... really. (I should probably point out that, as I write this, I just got home from a day of working and I'm really hungry. So, if I have an edge or if my thoughts drift, blame lack of food.) And I suppose that our answer to the question of when the blogs were written (post-filming or post-viewing) depends upon JP's definition of home. G

Next week – we finally pull one over on this group of Survivors. A small victory, but it felt so good that I want to brag about it early. I think you'll love it and you will shake your head in amazement at the "never happened before" moment that occurs as a result.

The way Jeff is talking I wonder if he considers the Kota tribe the Evil ones and Fang the Nice ones. He sure seems to like Ken and he liked Ace, etc. He is always talking about Corrine being evil and we know he didn't care for Marcus. So far I am not really getting this Good vs Evil theme he mentioned.

Thanks, Estee!this comment gives me pause: He (Matty) must stay in this game a long time. Along with Kenny, Crystal, Corrine, Randy, and Sugar. 5 on his list are the original Fang. Marcus, Charlie, Bob conspicuously absent. Susie understandably absent. So what is he saying, that these are the characters he likes to watch, or is he hinting that they'll be the end-game? I never know with Jeff how much he's willing to spill. Certainly it would be interesting if Randy and Corinne, who are getting close, flipped it around, but right now they have a F4 bond, so why trade it for a larger alliance?

Corrine is tough. She says it like it is and sometimes that is really hard to hear. If I found myself on her tribe, I think I'd be tempted to hold her down and let the leaches have their way with her. This made me laugh! He should hit the comedy clubs. I'll bet he's sad to see Ace go, he won't have him around for jury but I'll bet he talks to him more at the finale then half the jurors. Sympathetic to Dan I thought as well, hopefully Dan's smarter then he appeared, I guess so he's a lawyer after all. Editing is a cruel mistress.

LAST EDITED ON 11-07-08 AT 05:18 PM (EST)I thought the same thing as Brownroach that the merge must be right around the corner. In fact, I wonder if with all the gloating by the castaways that they "knew" when the merge would be, if Jeff and the producers decided to mess with them and then came up with another tribal switch and II. That immunity challenge sure looked like the type of individual indurance challenge they do at merge. Regarding OFG's post #29. I wanted to bring it down here for discussion in Episode 8: She said: this comment gives me pause: He (Matty) must stay in this game a long time. Along with Kenny, Crystal, Corrine, Randy, and Sugar. 5 on his list are the original Fang. Marcus, Charlie, Bob conspicuously absent. Susie understandably absent. Certainly it would be interesting if Randy and Corinne, who are getting close, flipped it around, but right now they have a F4 bond, so why trade it for a larger alliance? Now that we know Marcus is gone, it seems like Jeff was hinting at who our Final 6 would be. I could see Corinne and Randy flipping. Charlie and Bob were just numbers, plus they both are smart, strong and have good endurance. Definately could win some immunities. Corinne and Randy (evil) versus Matty and Sugar (good) and Crystal and Kenny are in-between. It's food for thought and we'll see how it plays out! A few weeks ago I read part of Jiffy's blog which referred to a very touching romance that takes place during Gabon. (I just searched for the exact quote and can't find it, but I'm sure others will recall it.) Who in the world can this refer to? Did I miss something involving a person already voted off? Of the Survivors who are remaining, I can only guess Sugar and Matty. But that does not really make sense as Matty seems to have a strong romance outside the game. Who can it be?

This is the telling phrase for me:I absolutely love watching Kenny get more and more cocky each week. At the auction for instance, Matty is bidding on the burger and fries and Kenny, who had the most money, shrugs his shoulders and says, "You can have it." Like Tony Soprano, this kid. I can't wait for the execution. I promise you if he keeps this attitude, it will happen and he will not see it coming. Jiffy is telling us a blindside of Kenny is coming. He even reiterates in his recap:
I'm concerned about my soft spot for Randy, not interested in Corinne, can't wait for Kenny to get his comeuppance, enjoyed the 5th grade cookie argument, and love Bob. Corinne is not significant to the story. Jiffy loves Bob - he stood up for him when the others didn't pick him during the trival switch even though they ranked him highly, and he pointed out earlier in the blog that everyone loves Bob and at least there's one person to root for.

Jeff was a bit blabby this week!I find this interesting since several of us over in the Thursday Night spoiler thread said we liked and/or could root for Corinne: Corinne on the other hand is equally as mean as Randy but I don't find myself rooting for her in any way. She is an original. I will give her that. Not sure we've ever had anybody on the show quite like Corinne. Corinne is as subtle as a thunderstorm. Subtle as the look I give a Survivor when they want to quit. Subtle as, I know, a Probst analogy. Jerri Manthey can't hold a candle to Corinne. Jerri had some likable qualities about her, Corinne has none. Just ask her. She'll tell you the same thing. Contrast that with Corinne holding the little Gabonese girl's hand on reward and I think Jeff protests too much! He really went on and on about her (and his un-attraction to her too, lol). I absolutely love watching Kenny get more and more cocky each week. Combine that with the secret scene of Matty saying that Kenny and Crystal will have to go pretty much tells me that Matty's going to flip! surfkitty sig shop 2007

A consistent theme in Survivor over the years has been that "Pride cometh before the fall". There is a lot of arrogance in Corinne repeatedly calling Sugar stupid as Sugar hands Corinne's alliance mates their heads on a platter. The irony is that Corinne is too stupid to see that she has seriously misjudged Sugar. There is something pathetic about Randy but he really asked for what he got. I am a little surprised that Sugar had it in her to humiliate Randy but there is no question that he had it coming.
Well said, ADKer! Perhaps with the next new episode we shall see the fall of Kenny...Regarding Corrine, interesting how the folks in editing feel about her in contrast to how Jeff feels about her...can someone so despised by Jeff possibly win this game? Also, upon reading Jiffy's blog, I am reminded of the quote that someone dug out from him stating that at times he has indeed said what would happen and no one took him seriously...hmmmmm..."Thank god everybody likes Bob. At least there's one person to root for." ???? Food for thought.

LAST EDITED ON 11-24-08 AT 11:58 AM (EST)I think Jeff protests too much! Does he ever! Considering that ... In his blogs of Episodes 1 and 2, he says: "But nobody can touch Corinne on the B.... meter. I only feel comfortable saying this because Corinne told it to me in person. She said it drives her nuts when somebody says she is 'pleasant' or 'nice,' it's insulting. She wears it like a badge of honor and I'll be bringing it up for as long as she is around. In her favor, Corinne plays the game hard, she knows how important alliances are, and if she forms a good one she could be around for a while. Question: Is Corinne more or less hot now that you know she'd burn your house down if she got mad at you? Corinne, I hope you're laughing. You know I'm joking. If not, I sure hope you don't know where I live." And in his blog of Episode 4, he wrote: "Corrine is growing on me. Just sayin." And in his blog of Episode 7, he wrote: "Corrine is tough. She says it like it is and sometimes that is really hard to hear. If I found myself on her tribe, I think I'd be tempted to hold her down and let the leaches have their way with her. Then again, knowing my weaknesses, I'd probably find myself in a regrettable alliance with her and end up with my throat cut but with a smile on my face." And in his blog of Episode 8, he wrote: "I love that Corinne and Sugar are on the same tribe. Sweet and sour always makes for a tasty treat. Corinne hates Sugar. Sugar thinks Corinne is evil. This is going to be fantastic ... Teaser for next episode...just wait until Corinne gets her first look at the new Kota. Marcus voted out at the last tribal council. She is gonna blow." And in his blog of Episode 9, he wrote: "No need to bury the lead. One of my favorite moments of the entire season happened about seven minutes into this episode. Corrine's reaction to Marcus being voted out. It was almost as good as waiting for Santa to come. First the Macaulay Culkin "hands to the face" reaction made famous in Home Alone and then the verbal response that revealed the rest of her truth: 'I'm pissed. He didn't deserve to leave the game.' ... Only seven words. But judging from Kenny's clenched jaw reaction, those seven words might have just sealed Corrine's fate. Corrine, it's just a thought, but when you sense the horse is going in a different direction, it might be wise to lessen your hold on the reins and let the horse guide the way. This horse is definitely going in a different direction and the person sitting in the saddle is Kenny ... Then there is the reward where once again, more human nature revealed itself. Corrine smiled! Corrine took the hand of a small child! Dare I say, Corrine loved!! Let them eat cake!! She has a heart! She is human! Yeah! And when Corrine smiles, I am reminded, Corrine is pretty damn attractive." But in his blog of Episode 10, he wrote: "Corinne on the other hand is equally as mean as Randy but I don't find myself rooting for her in any way. She is an original. I will give her that. Not sure we've ever had anybody on the show quite like Corinne. Corinne is as subtle as a thunderstorm ... Jerri Manthey can't hold a candle to Corinne. Jerri had some likable qualities about her, Corinne has none. Just ask her. She'll tell you the same thing. By the way ... all this stuff about me being attracted to Corinne really surprised me. Here's the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I felt like I had been beating up on Corinne for so long that when I saw her smile on the last episode I figured I'd say at least one nice thing. Fittingly, Corinne probably hated that I said it in the first place. But just so we are clear, I have no interest in dating Corinne. I do not have the hots for Corinne. I don't think about Corinne. I like nice women. Done. Enough already." One wonders just what the host is distancing himself ... from. A winner who is going to be even more unpopular than he originally thought? Or a loser who is going to be even more toxic than he had imagined? Too, I wonder if anyone can see any one of Susie, Crystal or Sugar winning the Game unless every one of Kenny, Matty and Bob are out of it and on the Jury. Because I can't. ETA: Jeff's comments about Corrine in Episodes 1 and 2.

It's interesting coupling the blog on Randy with the Randy Ponderosa clips. Is Randy horrible or was he just bad at being around annoying people?Randy with Marcus and Charlie, there is no drama ... Randy enjoys having his first gay friend (another person who has never met many gay people, which is hard for me to imagine, but anyhow Randy isn't homophobic). The three of them are a lot of fun. I think Randy wanted to leave the game and ensured he did. Yes he made a play with the idol that would have been satisfying to him had it worked, but he seemed genuinely happy enough to get out. Marcus and Charlie had to adjust, but Randy didn't. I think they are dreading having Bob show up as much as anyone. They don't want to hear any more of Bob's stories, ever. Jeff says he loves Bob, but Dan and Randy were both ready to shoot themselves, being driven nuts. Interesting they're keeping the Bob Drives Us Nuts talk confined to the Insider and Ponderosa. It sounds to me like Corinne is next. The dumb swap excited people because it averted a Pagonging? Not really, just a Pagoning of the other group. Similar to Marquesas, and Corinne is the Tammy?

If Corrine is as bad as they are saying and, as Matty says, Sugar and Susie are so nice, wouldn't it make sense to vote out a "player" like Kenny and keep Corrine around as the one to go up against at the final tribal council? Maybe the good vs. evil will be Matty (or Bob) vs. Corinne.

LAST EDITED ON 11-22-08 AT 08:27 AM (EST)That blog was especially good this week and so was the deleted scene of Matty. First off, I'm willing to bet at this point that we'll have a good v. evil ending with an F-2, not an F-3. GOOD v. EVIL. And, I'm thinking more and more, it just may be GOOD = Bob v. EVIL = Corrine. The two onions do make it to the end. For the first time, Jiffy is starting to bad mouth Sugar. I found that interesting. Matty, in his deleted scene tells us he's sticking with his Fang-five, but admits that Kenny is the "brains" and Crystal is the "muscle." It sounds to me as if he has a secret alliance with Susie and Sugar for the F-3 spots. Lastly, I can't wait to see Kenny and Crystal get their comeupance!

You raise some interesting points, Scarlett. Certainly Bob's editing arc is now front and center and Jeff has labeled him as good, one to root for. But, while I am no editing expert, Bob told us himself that he was there to explore and experience Africa and to find out more about himself and be grateful for the wonderful family he has(when he had the nice scene on top of the mountain)...blah, blah, blah....he told us himself, imo, that he was not there to win the million, but to explore himself and Africa...I see him as the journey player, but not the F2. Just some observations, will be interesting to hear the take on this scene and on Bob from the real experts in VS' editing thread. I like the spec that it will indeed be a F2 this season, clearly one that is labeled "good", vs. one that is labeled "bad". I am heavily leaning toward Susie as F3 now as well.

Had I read this before Thursday I would have been certain Corinne was going... Who will outplay their way to $1 million? Kenny: "If he doesn't get overconfident." Bob: "If he makes it to the final three." Susie: "She could talk her way into winning." Matty: "The sentimental favorite." Sugar: "Is she a great player? Or is she just lucky?" Crystal: "Slim." Corinne: "No chance."
Kinda looks like a Susie, Matty, Sugar final three, maybe with Bob going out at #4? If I had to guess from this Susie wins by talking well at Tribal, Matty gets a few votes because he is liked and Sugar gets the least because they think she just lucked her way into the final.

I would be shocked beyond belief if Susie were to win. I would be so shocked at that that I think Corinne, much as she hates Sugar, would vote for her over Susie.

If for nothing else but the way Bob scolded Sugar (made her cry according to Probst)about laughing at Randy I would only feel "good" if he ended up winning the jury vote. I'm not feeling it for any of the other ones yet. Susie winning this because she's deserving for her perseverance maybe but they just didn't show it enough for me to get behind her. There must be more to Susie that they haven't shown to us. Matty said, in one of the deleted scenes, that Susie is "great" and we do see her working hard around camp, and she won an immunity. I don't know why the editor's wouldn't show more of her if she is the eventual winner but I don't dislike her.

Interesting, Jiffy admits he has an envy thing about Marcus dating back to pre-game and says flat out Marcus is still mad at him ... he harps on about the evil Corinne trying to make her the second coming of Jerri plus, which I don't see. Corinne is still hung up on high school clique mentality but she doesn't annoy me like Crystal and Sugar do ..anyhow, those he mentions as strategically capable right now are Susie (for UTR), and Kenny (manipulator), and Bob as the big threat. Sugar is still in a great spot and Matty is vulnerable ... and nothing about Crystal. Could she go next? Jiffy posted in response to comments and asked who do we want to win, so your chance to register and tell him what you think and who you hate or love or could at least tolerate. (don't forget to b&m about the casting) For next week: Next week on...Survivor. A new agreement could completely change the game....if only you could trust these people to keep their word. Bob and Kenny?

Is it coincidence the boots have gone in the order Jeff posted? For sure, a Bob-Kenny finale would be fun to watch! And Kenny is being shown as increasingly "evil" while everyone loves Bob. Kenn-Bob-Matty F3 would be unexpected too.

Jiffy gives them all a chance to win. http://popwatch.ew.com/popwatch/2008/12/jeff-probst-b-1.html#more Sugar is in an excellent spot to make it to the final vote. I'll give her credit. She has done a very good job of staying in this game and staying out of the way. She's survived a record number of days on Exile, she handled the power of the immunity idol beautifully, and she has earned her right to be in the final five. She could easily make it to the final vote. Susie is a question mark for me. She's riding coattails a bit, for sure, but she has done a good job of offering up her vote to the right people at the right time, and that has kept her out of the line of fire. Don't be surprised if she makes it to the final because everyone thinks they can beat her at the vote. Matty is a favorite. Has been from day one. I'm so happy he's still in the game. I just like how he wears his heart on his sleeve. Can he win? Yes. Can he make it to the end? Very difficult. He's an obvious target. Bob is another favorite of mine. Again, from day one. I like his straight-ahead approach, and I have a huge soft spot for Maine. Can he win? Yes. Can he get to the end? It's gonna be tough. He will probably have to win his way there through immunity challenges, otherwise I think they'll take him out. He has too many former tribemates on the jury. Kenny - I cannot believe Kenny is still in this game. I would have lost my house betting against him making it this far. He has an uphill battle if he's going to win because he has made a ton of enemies. But if he gets to the final with the right person or people, it could happen. Kenny could win this game. Interesting that he says virtually the same thing for Matty and Bob. Trapped in a tribephyl snow globe

Jeff, tell us how you really feel:I'll say it right now. All things considered, I'm happy with this final five. There are three people I would be happy to see win and two people that if they win, I'll pretend I'm happy and quickly begin promoting next season. From Dear Abby's post I'll go with Matty, Bob & Sugar making Jeff happy. Kenny & Susie congrats, thanks,on to Brazil. Agman camouflaged me for S17

Weird entry this week:Jeff still can't bring himself to credit Brian, he has to call him that soft-core porno dude! Sandra may not have deserved to win but who else could have been more colorful? He still thinks a F3 is a good idea when it's the worst thing they've come up with. Who cares about IQs? No one will ever beat HeiDDi who had the highest IQ ever.

Regarding Brian- I still feel after all these seasons, that Brian was the most despicable player, not just winner, ever in Survivor. To tell you the truth, my opinion is largely colored by his audition tape, which shocked me immensely at the time. He revealed himself to be a sociopathic jerk who truly felt other people are just little bugs for him to snuff out. Not just in Survivor, but in life. I'm not sure those audition tapes can still be pulled up, but it would be interesting to do so. I despised him and can understand Jiffy's feelings.

After watching the treatment of Crystal at "Ponderosa", Corinne is up there with Brian as the most despicable player ever. Brian at least did not brag about being a jerk and did not argue that the other players deserved what they got because they are inferior and subhuman. Brian took the money and kept his mouth shut. Corinne is without any redeeming qualities. Marcus is too immature to be entrusted with the responsibilities of a doctor. Randy is a pathetic, miserable human being and Charlie is the only one with enough sense to be embarassed by their behavior. The pure meanness in Corinne and her clique makes it difficult to watch Survivor as entertainment. Watching scum like Corinne is not entertaining; it is just painful.

I love the final 3 set up for the reasons Jiffy mentions. It cuts out the ability for the final immunity winner to take along the biggest loser to the end for a very boring final TC blow out. Boooring.
