"SurvivorBlows Tribe, It's Time to Vote!" |
Oops. Almost forgot to post this. The Rules 1. Please put the name of your choice for this week's bootees IN THE SUBJECT HEADING! This is really easy. Just erase the bit where it says "Re: SurvivorBlows Tribe, It's Time to Vote!" and replace with your vote, i.e., Aras. This makes it easier to tally votes quickly and accurately. Oh, and btw... nicknames are tougher to tally unless they're REALLY obvious without actually reading your vote. 2. Reply ONLY to this post! Curves on women are good. Curves on vote threads are bad. The first part bears repeating: I like curves on women (which would explain why I haven't seen any episodes this season). Y'know, I'm not sure if I've been clear enough about this. Curves on women are really great things. Y'know what else is good? A nice MLT. Mutton, lettuce, and tomato with just a little bit of mayonnaise. Mmmmm. EXCEPTION TO RULE 2! VOTE CHANGES! If it just so happens that you wanna change your vote for whatever reason, REPLY TO YOUR ORIGINAL POST! Your new post heading should read "VOTE CHANGE: Austin (or Whoever)". That said, there is not an exception to the fact that curves on women are good. 3. THIS IS NOT A DISCUSSION THREAD! DO NOT TREAT IT AS SUCH! There are plenty of places on the Spoilers Forum to debate the merits of people's arguments. Let's keep it out of here, please. 4. No sig pics! It was suggested that because this can be such a long thread, sig pics make it really hard to load for folks with dial-up connections. So show some respect to your slower brethren (and sistren). And really, if I can refrain from flashing the greens at 100 posters, surely you can refrain just this once from extolling IceCat's animated glory, no? 5. Have fun. That's an order.

I think a La Mina guy's going and I'm torn between Austin and Nick. Nick seems more of a challenge asset than Austin, but Austin seems to be playing a smarter game than Nick. Anyway, I haven't gotten anyone right, so I guess Nick won't be voted out this week either.

Going out on a bit of a limb this week, really think that the "older men" alliance will be looking to break up the "younger men" alliance, and that Ruth Marie will side with them. They will throw Sally a bone to come over too.

30. "RE: Ruth Marie" |
For me it all comes down to the clues this week.Someone's feeling vulnerable after the last tribal...and feels the need to show their competetive nature and usefulness. Ruth Marie is beyond competitive (excellent shooting and almost ran away with the winning sandbag)...and the snail smashing and soup making prove her usefulness in camp. Sally, OTOH, lost the spear, did nothing at the RC, and got totally pounded at the IC. Add the fact that she has NO alliance, and Voila! - Vulnerable. Then someone gets blindsided at tribal. Even if no one told her, I don't think Sally getting voted out would be a blind side. Ruth Marie, OTOH, who thinks she's in an alliance with the old boys, would definitely be blindsided. Oh - and the post-Misty-boot interviews really make me feel like the all boys alliance will stick together for a bit longer. Ruth Marie is having obvious stamina problems and Sally is more of a distraction than anything else. Unless one of the men of La Mina get very sick or injured, I see the boys sticking together. (Maybe when they finally get to eat on Day 12 and Dan gets sick, they'll send him home next.) -montanagirl

LAST EDITED ON 02-22-06 AT 07:25 PM (EST)LAST EDITED ON 02-22-06 AT 07:22 PM (EST) alternate Sally Hey, Emydi agrees with me so I'll agree with her. I have been thinking along similar lines as michel re the editing, and agree with montanagirl's reasons as well. Why not one of the guys? A) there is absolutely no hype about a crack in the boys' club alliance like we had last week and I doubt CBS would pass on it. I don't think this is an alliance-busting week. I personally believe that a straight arrow guy like Terry does not give his word just to break it in Ep4. He would not propose an alliance through the merge unless he planned to keep it. With a guy like Terry, once his word loses value, he is not trusted, and he is toast! No, I believe that until (and if) Nick or Austin try to mount a coup that Terry will keep his word and pick off the women. Nick and Austin and Sally would have a tie AT BEST, which is stupid strategy. Nick and Austin passed on a revolt last episode when they had the numbers. I believe it will come down to the male consensus on who should go, and in this I think Austin's opinion will carry some weight with Terry, as Austin keeps telling us that people listen to him. Which woman? We have evidence that Sally's danger will be highlighted this episode (as the promo blurb tells us it's the person who was blindsided at last TC who now feels worried). If she goes she will be the obvious boot at the end of the show, not the misdirection. Obvious boots happen, and she could go. Politically, she is clearly in the worst position; however I'm not convinced that Terry is worried about her seducing Nick and Austin at the next vote. If he were, yes, he would have to hedge his bets by hanging on to RM's vote. To date, neither Nick or Austin have shown Terry any of their waffling side, FAIK. Terry and Dan ditched the rocket scientist, left Sally alone, and I think they do not see her as a threat or a seductress. JP said in his post-filming comments on Sally that she has a calmness to her, an ability to not react but rather sit back and let other people cause drama while she waits it out. Dunno how much I trust JP's comments this season, but we haven't seen that happen yet. However, if Sally can manage to not freak out (and JP says that's not her style), but rather calmly communicate about her ability to help the tribe and her solidarity with the tribe. I think she can dodge the bullet. Because the La Mina tribe seems so solid, I don't think Terry feels he needs to worry that Nick and Austin will gang up on him if he leaves Sally in the game. I believe he feels quite invincible in his own tribe with the "men's club" alliance. If he finds the idol, he feels even more secure. Although he said that Misty "the gamer" boded trouble down the line, Sally the gal pal blends in better. I believe that this boot will come down to who is more valuable to the tribe in challenges as La Mina prepares for an uphill fight to merge at even numbers. Ruth Marie, were she pitted in a F-F matchup against any of the Casaya women in a strength or endurance contest, will lose. She's a runner, a solo athlete. Sally is a team sports person with her soccer coaching. If I were in Terry's position, I would pick "Green Sweats" over RM to be the last remaining female competitor in the challenges. Last but not least, Sally and Austin are the primary pre-merge narrators for LaMina and narrators rarely get tossed as early as Ep 4, do they? RM, the editors have set her up to be wrapped up quickly as she has no story (as noted by VerucaSalt). She got a little story last time about her cooking snails and seen as weakened, but we got nothing FROM RM that shows she is a fighter, no indication that she will be tenacious like Lydia or Amy. I feel she is ready to go without a lot more development. From Misty's SL interview, I note praise of Ruth Marie (not resentment) along with a confirmation the hunger is draining her: DR: Ruth Marie is a very athletic woman. She's a runner and stuff. But we're hearing that she's maybe not doing so well out there. What is the sense that you got? Was she having a tough time? MG: Yeah, everyone was. But with Ruth Marie, she's a very strong capable woman. However, out there, the lack of food, that was really, really draining. Coming into the game she was real lean and it just takes a lot out of you. And she was kind of more or less on her own. Two younger girls, two younger guys, two older men and there's Ruth Marie. Sally and I really warmed up to her. I think Sally more so than me at the time. Yeah, I didn't think she was doing great, that's for sure. I believe that next time La Mina gets a food reward, which might have given Ruth Marie strength. Ep4 is the lowest point in the starvation theme and "Starvation and Lunacy" is the appropriate time for a starvation boot--seeing as the friggin lunatics appear to be safe!

LAST EDITED ON 02-23-06 AT 02:04 AM (EST)The ChillOne tells us that a woman with blonde highlights makes the jury and is voted off just before the family visit. At this point, that could be either Sally or Ruth Marie. The spoilers are vague about the events leading up to the merge, so we need to rely on more traditional analysis for the time being… The editing can be used to hide alliances and create misdirection, but it can not hide the Tribal Council vote. Last week we saw Misty and Sally vote against the rest of the La Mina tribe, as Ruth Marie apologized for voting with her alliance. Ruth Marie has an alliance, while Sally’s alliance partner was voted out last week. Sally was blind-sided by Nick and Austin’s votes, with whom she hoped to gain control of the tribe. The body language of the seating arrangement at TC confirmed that Sally was the outsider. Sally’s plan did not succeed, and as a result she now feels vulnerable, as the press release for this week indicates… “After the last Tribal Council, one castaway begins to worry they too may be in danger. Will their strong efforts and competitive nature be enough to keep them in the game?” Sally will work hard to help win the challenges, as the storyline asks…“Will their strong efforts and competitive nature be enough to keep them in the game?” But as we know, the answer to these rhetorical questions is almost always, “No”. Terry, the leader of a strong alliance that just voted off Misty, will be sent to Exile Island. While he is gone his tribe will be consumed by hunger and the search for food. Sally will have no opportunity to influence Terry’s strategy during his absence. When Terry returns, his first priority will most likely be to shore up the alliances he had before he left, and to make sure they were still in tact, rather than risk changing plans in mid stream without knowing what had taken place during his exile. Terry trusts Dan. Dan is loyal to Terry and has an agreement with Ruth Marie. Last week Nick and Austin passed on the chance to take control, and chose not to align with Misty and Sally. With Misty gone, Nick and Austin have even less to gain by voting with Sally this week. The editing will undoubtedly paint a picture of a weak, hungry tribe, suffering through back to back challenge defeats, faced with a difficult decision. The decision will ultimately rest with Terry, who will decide whether to vote out a weaker Ruth Marie in an attempt to win the next team challenges, or to vote out Sally in order to honor his alliance with Dan and Ruth Marie, while gaining the numerical edge over the younger faction of the La Mina tribe. Terry may return from exile island with the confidence that comes from having the Immunity Idol in his back pocket. That confidence would allow him to stick to his convictions and honor his alliances…unfortunately for Sally, she’s not a part of them. Krautboy

LAST EDITED ON 02-23-06 AT 12:33 PM (EST)The logic for a Sally boot is certainly there, as so excellently presented by FP, KB and others, as is the logic for a Ruth Marie boot, excellently presented by OFG and others. Based on the events of last week it could easily go either way. So I am using a different angle to make my decision. 1) I do not believe Dan makes the merge, for various reasons, but primarily because his alliance with Terry has been so overemphasized – I expect this alliance to end by some means other than Dan getting pagonged by the opposite tribe later on. 2) I also expect Casaya to lose one more IC before the merge, at which Bobby is booted. That’s a little iffier, but...I am guessing that for now. That means that La Mina goes to TC twice more before the merge, and Dan has to get booted at one of those TC’s. If he doesn’t go tonight (and it seems unlikely to me that he will), he has to go at the next one. The only way I can see that happening is if Nick, Austin, and Sally are all there to vote against Dan. And I could see them doing that because he would look like the weakest one there at point. If Sally were to leave tonight, logic tells me that weak Ruth Marie would be the next bootee from La Mina, which means Dan can only leave pre-merge if they lose the next three IC’s (for four in a row). They could lose all three IC’s, and Terry could ultimately vote against Dan when there are four La Mina's left, but then there is no one available to be C1’s blonde highlight girl (unless it is Courtney, having been described to C1 in two different ways...) As for the boys, I cannot see Terry wanting to boot Austin or Nick as their numbers dwindle. Not only does their strength become more crucial for the challenges, but all three are smart players and I think they will realize that having all three of them there at the merge lessens the target on any one of them at a given time. Lastly, as OFG pointed out, Terry is simply not the sort to break an alliance that he himself proposed unless it becomes absolutely necessary. I think Ruth Marie has a connection with Dan but not with anyone else. I don’t see Terry being up for an old-person alliance and wanting to save her for that reason. So I think she leaves tonight.

well I sheeped for the first time last week and it got me a loss,(I really wanted to pick Misty or Nick, but I was swayed by the lemming rush to Dan.) This week gut tells me Ruth Marie is going in a very simple "she's starving" style episode. Yes there are others who are more even more one dimensional, but this tribe is going to be decimated pre-merge and theres plenty of time to drop a few more, (Dan, Nick) but barring injury this largely logical tribe will vote out the weakest link "MamaRuth."
