Emydi, I agree with you regarding Sun: Amazing reaction scene and she must be after Ben. As far as the people in the ocean being "connected" to the island while those in the helicopter weren't, maybe this could explain it: http://www.popularmechanics.com/science/research/4266329.html?series=6 That explanation seems to correspond to what we know of Dharma. The connection would depend on whether or not those in the water were inside the wormhole's boundary, the event horizon if you will.
