Haven't had a chance to watch the show but I noticed in the comments that two of the bad pieces were numbers where one of the partners was already eliminated. These guys live off adrenaline and when you're out, you lose that. Gotta be tough.

The only number I've seen so far is Curtis and Hayley's and Curtis is far too baby-faced to play that. I've said before that with such a young group many won't be able to play the roles where maturity/world experience is an asset. I think we saw that.

Definitely seeing some separation between top 10 material and the rest. Several had back to back good routines and others had back to back bad routines.

ETA: how did Carlos and Brittany get to the bottom, Nigel? Easy. They had no face time either in the auditions or in Vegas. It's a bit disingenuous for you to say that. Still, first show cuts are really tough but at least in the past few seasons they have the meet the dancers numbers so they are seen more than once before the public needs to vote.
