Ragnar 4 desperate attention whore postings DAW Level: "American Cancer Society Spokesperson" 08-09-00, 09:35 PM (EST) "Latest Reward Challenge Fixed?" Was the latest challenge fixed in favor of Sean? Reasoning: 1. Damn convenient his father was on the yacht. And no, there is no way in hell he could have flown out from CONUS after Sean won. Flight time from LAX is something 12 hours plus. And don't forget the Int'l dateline. I've flown from LAX to Japan several times and the trip takes over 36 hours. Coming back from Japan to LAX you actually land an hour or so before you left. 2. If you taped the episode, watch the last question. It sure looked like Rich was looking to his right (left on your tv screen), nodding and changing his answer. 3. What if Sean doesn't win? Did they have 5 other relatives chained belowdecks for the others? Something stinks and it ain't the survivors!   Top

From what I've seen around, there's speculation as to whether he won one morning, and got on the boat the next afternoon, or if it was the next night. I think it was later the same day, as we all know how finicky tropical weather can be. I think that each of them had one of their family members flown to a local island, and they simply helecoptered out the relative of the winner. Of course, there's no proof to this part, but what if they only got a couple of the relatives, and flew them out. Say... Kelly's boyfriend, Sean's Dad, Colleen's Boyfriend - and if one of the three of them won, great - more of a prize. If one of the others won (can you see Rudy's wife steering the boat around?) then they got some local fishing boat captain from Tobago or somewhere. I guess we'll never know.   Top

I thought it was a bit fishy that Sean's dad was there, too. Some of the "trivia" questions seemed a bit medical in nature, and there were a couple of questions we didn't get to hear. However, I think it is more likely that friends and family memebers are beginning to assemble for the show's finale which isn't that far off. Rather than have them all doing a mad dash at the last minute, they are starting to trickle in. And in Sean's case he didn't look too long for the island in the past few episodes. Maybe the producers are trucking them in for those people whoare expected to remain on the island after being voted off to take part in the jury. Jenna, for example, might have been hard to convice to remain if her beauties weren't waiting for her or soon to arrive. Or maybe that wasn't Sean's father at all. He's such a clod, he'd be easily fooled.   Top

The reward (night on yacht) took place the following night, so they had plenty of time to get Sean's dad from one of the islands (or even the mainland) where he was probably staying. Also, they did not necessarily fly in a relative for each cast member. That is why they didn't announce "the winner will have a surprise guest on the yacht!" before the contest. The first time they mentioned a guest was after had Sean already won. Stjarna   Top

First, all that matters is the actual time it takes to travel, the fact you cross the international dateline doesn't mean anything in terms of the actual time it would take them to transport someone from the US to the island. I hope you realize that when you travel from Japan to the US you're not actually traveling backward in time. Secondly, I got the impression from the episode that the night on the yacht took place the day after the reward challenge. I didn't tape it, but I remember that they didn't go right from Sean winning to his going to the yacht, which implies they did not take place on the same day. Given that, they would have 30-36 hours to fly someone from the states out to the island.   Top

I work in Television and know that these things are very planned out but I don't think the voting is fixed, I think that if Sean had not won immunity his dad would have visited the island or something, obviously the dad flew himself to P-Tiga and MBproductions<tm> used it to thier advantage, his dad was probably waiting at the resort to give him the 'good try Wally' speech when he got booted. Dad, realizing how stricken poor Wally, um I mean Sean would be, flew to the resort to pat his back and toast a 'you-did-your-BEST-son! beer'   Top

I thought I heard Kelly say something when she was bitching Sean out at Tribal Council about it being the "day before". She said something like, "It wasn't about yada, yada, yada. It was the fact that all day the day before you led me on." Which means that the yacht trip took place the day after the challenge. But I still think that there are probably family members waiting there for when they kicked off and I really thought Sean would be the next to go, so his daddy was probably there waiting. It still looked rigged, though.   Top

CBS Survivor web site says a relative of all the remaining survivors was in LA waiting to see who the winner of the contest was. When Sean won, word was sent to LA to get Dr. Dumbass's dad on the plane to wherever-the-hell he went.   Top

The website explains how they set up the 6 needed family members to be ready in case anybody won. about 24 hours of real time seemed to pass between the challenge and Sean actually going to the yacht. Time zones are irrelevant in this case. Now that still doesn't mean it wasn't a biased challenge. All those medical questions meant Sean had the best chance of wining since, surprise surprise, he seems to have actually learned something in medical school!   Top

Can anyone who has it on tape post the questions that they asked for the reward challenge? Everyone keeps saying that they were all medical, and they might have been, but honestly I cant remember what they were all about. Youve got to remember, too, that we didnt get to see all the questions asked. The other questions were about Red Sox trivia or gardening tips, for all we know. Question: If youre saying that rich was coached, why are you also saying that it was setup for sean to win? Does that make any sense to you? Conspiracy buffs, get a grip...   Top

I was speculating that Rich was coached to pick the WRONG answer. While I'm willing to buy into the CBS story of having 6 relatives waiting at the airport, I know what I saw on TV and it sure as hell looked like Rich was being prompted from off camera.   Top
