PLEASE NOTE: The Reality TV World Message Boards are filled with desperate attention-seekers pretending to be one big happy PG/PG13-rated family. Don't be fooled. Trying to get everyone to agree with you is like herding cats, but intolerance for other viewpoints is NOT welcome and respect for other posters IS required at all times. Jump in and play, and you'll soon find out how easy it is to fit in, but save your drama for your mama. All members are encouraged to read the complete guidelines. As entertainment critic Roger Ebert once said, "If you disagree with something I write, tell me so, argue with me, correct me--but don't tell me to shut up. That's not the American way."

"PILOTPROJECT.TV"
Anyone familiar with this reality website/soon-to-be TV show, in which you can submit (for a fee) an idea for a TV show, in the categories of "Sitcom/Comedy," "Reality," Talk Show" or "Other"? I submitted an entry, because I think most of what's on TV nowadays falls into the category of formulaic sitcom dribble; exploitive reality-TV crap; blathering, repetative talk; or tiresomely rehashed drama (falling into the unimaginative genres of medical, legal, cop or "I'm-coming-back-to-my-hometown-to-start-my-life-again!" YAAAWWWWWNNNNN!) The morons who run Hollywood are obviously mentally incapacitated (this include film-studio morons, who insist on re-making old TV shows into movies that are unnecessary wastes of time, comicbook superhero that stink from beginning to end -- can you hear me, "Hulk"? -- and revered Classic and Foreign films into crass, brain-dead star vehicles! It's obvious the studios and their writers don't have even an ounce of creativity among them! Otherwise they'd be making something original instead of dreck like "According to Jim"!) and should be replaced as soon as possible. Viva la revolution! . . . Ok, what was I writing this post about again?? Oh yeah, PilotProject.tv Now I remember. I seemed to have gone off on a tangent there . . . As I was saying, I submitted an entry and wonder if anyone on this message board has visited the site and read various entries? You have to be a member to read them, but its free to join. I won't say which entry is mine, so hopefully I can get some unbiased responses on what people think are their favorite would-be TV shows, and what they think are lousy beyond all comprehension (no doubt SOON TO BE A NETWORK SHOW!) Post your thoughts here >_____.
PS: web address is www.pilotproject.tv (in case you couldn't figure it out)

LAST EDITED ON 07-19-03 AT 10:01 PM (EST)

Don't let my last post trick you into thinking I don't like TV, because I do. Favorite current shows include, "Dead Like Me," "Monk," "Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law" and, from the other side of the pond courtesy of BBCAmerica, "Coupling" (soon to be an American remake. Be afraid! Be very afraid!), "Jonathan Creek," and "Father Ted" (also being planned as a US remake, though I predict it'll never make it that far because the humor won't translate well, AND the Catholic church here will rise up to make sure it never sees the light of day. To wit: "I'm not a fascist. I'm a priest. Fascists dress up in black and tell people what to do. Whereas priests . . . More drinks!" -- Father Ted Crilly).

What do these shows have in common? They're not on network TV. Network TV is mostly incapable of this kind of innovation and originality. And then when they do get a show that is well above the usual level of crap, like "Sportsnight," they cancel it! Which is a good lead-in to tell you to check out the message I'm going to post in "Shows That Died Too Soon" under the Non-Reality Television Shows Forum.

"TV is called a medium because so rarely is it well-done." -- Ernie Kovacs

2. "RE: PILOTPROJECT.TV"
As I said in the last message, I entered my idea for a TV show pilot on this website called PilotProject.TV. The submission period has now ended, and there are 600 submissions in four categories: Sitcom, Talk/Daytime, Reality, and Other. (My idea is listed under Sitcom). The number of submissions will be whittled down to 150, with the criteria being creativity, marketability and audience acceptance. And from there down to 25, and then 5. The winning concept will be turned into a TV pilot. And of course the whole contest is being filmed for a reality series.

Before, I didn't think it was fair to promote my idea to bring people to the site to vote specifically for my idea. But apparently, PilotProject encourages this! So if you'd like to help me, you can go to the site and register (it's free) and, when voting begins on Aug. 18 (through to the 31st), vote for my pilot idea, "Gothic Shores" -- that is, if you like it. Here's the web address to take you directly to my submission: http://www.pilotproject.tv/view_submission.php?id=403

Basically, "Gothic Shores" is a horrible gothic soap opera from the late 60s/early 70s that was created to capitalize on "Dark Shadows," but was so bad it was cancelled. And now it's been unearthed after being lost for 30 years, so that a whole new generation may discover its badness. Actors flub lines, props and lighting malfunction, crew members fall asleep during the broadcast and accidentally end up on camera . . . you get the idea. People who enjoy Dark Shadows and Mystery Science Theatre 3000 would like "Gothic Shores."
