I've mentioned this a few times, but I'd like to just get it out into the open: I think Survivor would have a new, fresh approach to it if they took advantage of the 20 people for this season and made it 4 tribes. We already know small tribes can work, as evidenced by All-Stars. If anything, I'd like to see the following happen:1) A tribe gets automatically "dissolved" when it hits 3 members, the 3 members splitting amongst the other 3 tribes. The problem that was never realized with All-Star's dissolving is that Saboga, if they'd not finished last, could have become a much larger tribe for no reason other than another tribe sucked at the challenge.
2) A combined immunity/reward challenge where the top 2 get immunity, and the top 3 get reward. With 20 people there will need to be at least one multiple elimination night to keep within the 39 day limit, and that structure would be an interesting incentive.
3) No swap of players or other such gimmicks. My only problem with Vanuatu from a twist standpoint was that they had a newly boosted size roster and did nothing special with it.
My basic idea is that they need to do something totally original and unexpected, like the "jump off with the clothes on your back" in Pearl Islands, or the original tribal swap in Africa. The past couple seasons they've been slipping in terms of original twists.
Anyone else, what new twist idea would you like to see implemented, whether the 20 player total makes it newly possible, or you've had this idea in mind for a while? I'd love to hear you guys' input on this.
