Reality TV World Message Board Forums
PLEASE NOTE: The Reality TV World Message Boards are filled with desperate attention-seekers pretending to be one big happy PG/PG13-rated family. Don't be fooled. Trying to get everyone to agree with you is like herding cats, but intolerance for other viewpoints is NOT welcome and respect for other posters IS required at all times. Jump in and play, and you'll soon find out how easy it is to fit in, but save your drama for your mama. All members are encouraged to read the complete guidelines. As entertainment critic Roger Ebert once said, "If you disagree with something I write, tell me so, argue with me, correct me--but don't tell me to shut up. That's not the American way."

"Monster House"
Has anyone else watched this? It's on the Discovery Channel. It's what would happen if you let Tim the Tool Man from Home Improvement decorate your house.

A bunch of guys (already pretty overloaded with testosterone) are given lots of power tools and sledgehammers and one week to take an ordinary house and turn it into some kind of fantasy place for the guy who actually lives there. If they get everything done on time they get a prize of more power tools.

Last night they did the Wild West. They raised the roof (literally), tore down walls, put windows in where none existed, added a wagon wheel chandelier that dropped from the ceiling on chains (they always seem to have chains in the design) to become a poker table and built a bunk house out of the sun porch.

Previously they did a medieval castle theme where they knocked out sliding doors to put in barn doors, punched out a wall to add drawbridge tables lowered with chains, completely covered a wall with fake stone with a chain system to drop down the TV and built a coffee table to resemble a bed of nails (and included a pair of handcuffs).

Then of course there was the one where they put the front of a car on the wall for a kitchen table, parts of engines as the stove hood, and expensive designer chandeliers remade to look like hubcaps.

At the end they do bring in a woman to handle all those unimportant little details like adding furniture, lamps, rugs, painting the walls, sweeping up the sawdust, etc.

The man they do it for always seems to love it. The female significant other (if there is one) always looks like she's in shock.
