Back in August I'd posted a link to a post from someone over at the Television Without Pity boards who claimed to know someone who was going to be a Survivor contestant. When they weren't on Vanuatu I thought they were wrong, but it turns out they knew Ian Rosenberger (or they say Ian Rosenberg) would be on Survivor before anyone else, even well before the whole Vanuatu cast was spoiled. I've sent them off an email to see if they can dig up any other information, like weight loss/family visit kind of spoilers. I'll pass on anything I hear back.Here's a repeat of the text andthe link to the actual post: "Ive been posting on TWoP forever and am quite a lurker in the Survivor forums, AND, I know one more contestant. His name is Ian Rosenberg, is from Pennsylvania, went to Penn State, and was class president. There are no hints per se.
Yet, that is exactly how I found the 3rd contestant.
But the picture I used to start with is the only picture Snewser has on the main page of his S10Confirmator.
So unless he changes pictures, I doubt that many hints will be given.I also know that DarthXenu (who has now found 2 names) uses a script that cycles through 50 very popular last names (hence the Smith and Wilson) and a list of 100 or so popular first names that he types in each cycle.
This script is self loading and has been met with Snewser anti-tactics. To no avail, obviously. So, other then hacking, or knowing someone who knows someone, the possibilities of guessing a name are somewhere around 13 in 65,000+.
Wow, better then lotto.
Maybe my odds are off a little.

The young man's (PM's "eye candy" ) picture is ir_sml.jpg.
Ian Rosenberger's is ian_sml.jpg.
Jolanda Jones jolanda_sml.jpg.
And so on. So, who are SL and IR? I know - not a lot to go on, but maybe the initials will help someone figure it out?

Well, yes, you all have heard this before: I have been lurking since season 2…. I was excited to see someone I knew/know on the list of survivors for season 10….. So, yes, I may have something to add possibly and yes, you all have no idea how much to believe of what follows….So with that caveat in mind: I recognized Wanda Shirk’s name today and thinking “no, it can’t be my old HS English teacher” placed a quick call home to PA and discovered my mom knew 1) that Wanda Shirk had been “called back for Survivor interviews this summer” and 2) that she supposedly has tried out three times for the show (my mom and dad spoke with her over the summer. The area where I grew up is small town for even what you think of small towns in PA- so everyone kind of knows everyone’s business, good or bad). Now, I will state for the record that I had her in school many, many years ago (I graduated HS in the 80’s), as did subsequent siblings in the following years. She teaches English at the Northern Potter Jr Sr HS in Ulysses, PA. We all thought that she was quite tough, very certain of her convictions (many of them surrounding her religious beliefs) and that she has always marched to the beat of a different drum. She had both of her children at home: one with a mid-wife and the second ended up being just by herself (they must be in their early 20’s now). She also has opened her home to quite a number of foster children. She ran for congress in the 80’s on the Lyndon Larouche ticket (who was running at that time in the primaries for the democratic presidential candidate.) She supposedly underwent some religious/spiritual introspection in the 90’s (hence a lot of the religious writings coming up from the google searches.). However, she had a change of heart from her studies and currently is, last I heard, an atheist. She will definitely be a colorful character (one family member thinks she will either open her mouth or whip out her ukulele around the fire the first evening and that will be the end of that). I am going home soon to see the family for Christmas. If I hear anything of import (like weight loss/ or lack there off etc) I will post again. Otherwise, I am just a lurker at heart.

LAST EDITED ON 01-12-05 AT 06:41 PM (EST)So my big game plan was to try and find someone while I was home visiting family in December who had seen Mrs. Shirk in December (ie to figure out if she had lost weight or not), and I am afraid that I failed miserably on that end. That was the only thing useful that I thought I could contribute to spoiling. What I was able to straighten out and find out while home was: 1)She definitely was gone from work during the filming of survivor. Officially, ‘she was taking care of her sick father’.
2)Due to her absence, this led to rumors that a)she was on survivor, or b) she had to turn down being on survivor to take care of her sick father.
3)She is a survivor fanatic. She has been applying over and over again (‘like 3 times’ may have been an underestimate.) Her choice for the video has been performing some song and dance accompanied by her ukulele. Many people (meaning not just my family) appear to have seen, at one time or another, a ‘live’ demonstration of these routines. Everyone who has had her in school recently or knows her knows about her Survivor fanaticism. Oh, one last thing, Mrs. Shirk was remarried recently (ie she and “bill”(Wm) Shirk parted ways a few years ago. In actuality she would have been remarried prior to Survivor taping, although she seems to be still going by ‘Shirk’).
edit: And, to clarify the previous posting: 1) my mother knew of the rumors, not that Mrs. Shirk had let the cat out of the bag directly (don’t want to get anyone in trouble) and 2) that the comment at the end was from one of my family members and is not noteworthy in the least. I only included at the time because I was excited and typing off the top of my head.

 Although I did see his name listed on this thread I did not find any info on him. He's a 27 year old business consultant from Ashland, Mass and now living in Chicago. Appears to be quite athletic and personable. He attended the University of Pennsylvania. It also noted that he gained all of the weight he had lost since returning on Dec 11th, in just 9 days. Hmmmm, he must not have lasted that long, but did last long enough to perhaps have lost around 10 or more pounds? My guess is that he was a pre-jury boot....???
