Article: Unofficial Survivor Guide forum member Canadian Bacon recently scored a major coup for USG - his brother is vacationing in the Fiji/Vanuatu area and was able to take some photos of the area, including the airport the cast arrived at and some of the security in the area, as well as gather some valuable information from the locals. Thanks to Canadian Bacon, we are able to share these photos along with some interesting notes from his brother about the area and what is going on Survivor-wise. This Place Is Jumping "The weather here is awesome and hovering around 79F. It has been a little cloudy and some rain but all things considered it has been very nice. "I met up with my guide who took me out to some of the more remote islands and let me tell you, I have never in my life seen such interesting birds, plants, and there is so much more to tell you but it is a little late. I will try to send more tomorrow but wow this place is better than I could have imagined. "Okay, I am sure you are waiting to hear what I heard/saw so here goes, and understand that I may or may not be able to continue to get this kind of information. The castaways arrived this weekend by private plane. A portion of the local airport was closed and apparently they were loaded into Black SUV's with tinted windows and shuttled away with escort with some of the local roads closed to see that they were not interrupted. From what I understand, they are going to be enduring a couple of days of orientation before they start the game. Some of the local roads are being closed as needed so getting around is a little tough. I am attaching some photos of the roads that the Survivor crew and contestants are using to make their way to their various destinations. Well travelling to one of the islands I was photographing, I did take some photos, though at a distance of some of the boats that are serving as security for some of the islands being used. Security is really tight bro, you would not believe how much effort goes into keeping this stuff air tight. I feel so james bond doing this for you. "Well, that is all I have for now. Filming and the competition starts Monday so I imagine that things are going to get even more intense. I am going to see if I can get near one of the islands a little later in the week...see if I can get a photo of a shelter or God forbid, a castaway... "Wish me luck..." He then as able to score some pics of the airport which the cast arrived at, which are interesting because they show "how primitive the airport is in relation to what we have in the Western world..." Beautiful Country "The weather continues to co-operate with me, nothing but overcast and 75F projected for the rest of the week. Just beautiful, makes for great photography. "I am heading out on a private charter this afternoon and I am going to be passing by one of the central loading docks for the Survivor crew...I am going to see if there is anything worth snapping there. It is now Day 3 for the people here and you said someone gets booted every 3 days so does that mean someone is going tonight?? Maybe I can find out where they are staying? "I have some photos of the Airport...It does not show any of the crew or Survivors but it does show you where they landed and how primitive the airport is in relation to what we have in the Western world....I will be on retreat with a local guide for the course of the weekend so I will lose contact with you for a few days...If anything goes wrong (I get arrested for taking these dang photos cuz my silly kid brother has me in a deep fit of Survivor fever) you will be the first to know. I will hook up again with you after the retreat which will likely be Monday your time. "By the time I hook back up with you the show should be in full swing and well over a week old with a few people voted out. I must say the local economy is booming with all the interest from outsiders but then security is really air tight here. It really is a case of WHO you know and not WHAT you know. I am being treated with a lot of respect and the locals have been good to me so maybe I can curry some favours." Many thanks to Canadian Bacon for sharing this with us! I was wondering about the June 24th quake:http://community.realitytvworld.com/boards/DCForumID2/5246.shtml#11 Rereading this, CB's brother must have corresponded at least twice. First he says the game hasn't started yet, but later he says it's now Day 3. 
The Order of Banana Delivery should be organized by location to save on shipping costs.

"Bonehead" has been able to get some more photos and info about the show's security as well as information about the area. July 6, 2004 The weather is not nearly as nice as it has been. Still mid-70's but overcast at times and not as sunny. All is still well on my end. I did some more nature work today, which the locals seem to like. Took some photos of some of them fishing. I am going to leave copies with them as a memento kind of thing. My agenda for the next few days is to get to the Port Villa airport and photograph that Air Vanuatu plane that flew in the Survivors. I understand there is only one plane in the Air Vanuatu fleet so I think we can safely assume that is the one they arrived in. From there, I am going to try and get out near Lelapa Island, Moso Island, and Samoa Beach and see what I can see. Security does not take well to snoopers so I may have to watch my step and just work with what I have. I will tell you this though, there is this one boat that keeps crossing through the restricted area everyday. I think it is one of two things: supplies for the crew or a shift change for the filming. Security would not just let someone go crusing through there so it HAS to be a Survivor thing. I am going to snap a shot of it tomorrow and show you what I am talking about. The people I am staying with keep telling me to watch my step because the security force is not very forgiving. I have not got into any trouble yet so I will just continue to push my luck till someone tells me otherwise.

July 7, 2004 I got out to the airport as promised and I DID manage to get a shot of that boat though I had to be quick. Security is taking note of my presence and I think they are watching me a little more closely. I tried to make it look like I was photographing a plant but I think they know what I was up to. The airport shot was easier. I am going to lay low for the next few days and just stick to photographing my plants until the heat eases up a little. I am not sure, but again, I think I feel a noose around my neck a little. I am going to focus on talking to the locals and see if I can pick up on the local buzz, maybe get my finger on the pulse of the populous. From there, I am going to go all out. I will make plans to head as close to the islands as possible and just push my luck all the way. I figure, if I get caught I lose the photos and probably get told to leave, but then if I do not try, then I don't get the photos anyway. I will see if I can find someone who is willing to take some risks with me and go from there. That being said, I will not have any new photos until Monday your time, but I will keep you and your friends up to speed on what the locals are saying instead. I don't want to get boring. From there I will just take each day at a time and see what I can get.
The "mystery boat". This boat has been seen constantly moving through the restricted area and is believed to be a ferry for film or crew changes. Many thanks to Canadian Bacon and "Bonehead" for sharing this with us! (end of article) As a personal aside, I see there is still no mention of the earthquake, which I find extremely odd. And as MRC pointed out, this guy definitely has a ChillOne feel to his writing. Although I am assuming if it was C1 he would definitely be saying so....since he would want everyone to give him credit. Seems this guy is going to continue to post info. so guess we'll see if any of it turns out to be valuable or not...

July 10 - A cute female contestant has been voted off the island. Mele Cascades was closed for a
'private' function to film a survivors challenge 'reward' on Thursday 8th. The winning
contestants had a full-on meal supplied to them near the waterfall in which they were swimming
with nobody to bother them. The next challenge is being stage today in a pig pen. Presumably
contestants have to find something racing around in a dirty smelly pig pen with 'ferocious' wild
pigs in order to win a live pig to eat - the last time a pig was killed on Survivors it caused
an uproar with animal rights groups. Wonder if they got some film footage of the magnitude 5.7
earthquake that was centred close to Lelepa and Moso, where Survivors are filming on Thursday
morning??
July 12 - Will the next challenge be on Ambrym? A helicopter departed this morning for the
island volcano of Ambrym; the location of Vanuatu's most spectacular, and active volcano. Two
pilots on board; one local and one from the survivor team being shown the way? - stay
tuned........
July 13 - Tribal Council last night - another survivor bites the dust?

This is interesting. I hadn't seen this site before; I wonder from whom/where this info is coming.Here's part 4 from Bonehead and Canadian Bacon. July 12, 2004 I am going to be more careful about my writing in my messages to you. I really believe that what I am saying is coming back to haunt me. Needless to say, things continue to be interesting around here for me. Even the people I am staying with are a little cool now. I think they fear for their own interests to be honest with you. At any rate, there is a compound of sorts that I have not been too, and a beach that I have not been too and as much as I would love to get out there and take pictures, I am afraid I may not get the chance. Even when I do get the chance to take something I can get all of one photo before someone sees me, gets too close or in general, things look ugly for me. Well I am going to have to cut this short since I am really limited in what I can say anyway. I will tell you this though, there are people out here who are hell bent on getting what I think is revenge of sorts on this show. I would not be surprised if a local managed to spoil the whole show.

Call me a cynic, but this whole site (http://unofficialsurvivorguide.com/surv9exclusivepreview04.html) smells. This is my theory; MB realizes that attention to spoilers increases ratings in one form or another. This site has been created by CBS/Survivor in order to fuel and propogate interest. - Why all of a sudden has all this new info (?) come from this new source?
- Anyone with interest in this type of thing would have had some type of past association to an already existing conduit ie "sucks", or even this forum, and would be happy to report back to their little community. Bonehead (whoever he is) is afraid of what? A free ticket out of town? This just seems too fabricated and planned. Buff colours, boots, details from challenges. Is there someone on the inside with something to gain from all this. I doubt it. If this is being put together by the principles to string potential spoilers along, sooner or later like C1, the fix will become evident and we will have been had.

Yasur is one of the world's most active volcanoes, spewing sulphurous gas, showers of sparks and molten pumice up to 20 times per hour. Visitors can drive to within 100m of the crater's edge from where there's a breathtaking view of Tanna and the surrounding islands. Tanna is also a good place to witness traditional culture, including the cult of Jon Frum, a god from America, who the locals believe will bring great wealth. His followers wear red crosses, and have built replicas of planes and radios to entice him back to the island. In the north, Santo, largest island in the archipelago, was home to the huge Allied base during World War II. Novelist James A. Michener immortalised the island in his Tales Of The South Pacific. Snorkellers can enjoy Million Dollar Point, where the US dumped their military equipment at the end of the war when the local French planters baulked at buying it because they hoped to get it for nothing. Pentecost is the original home of bungee jumping. Local men build rickety towers of wood, up to 27m high and strapped together with creepers, then leap from the top with vines attached to their legs to break the fall. The spectacle is conducted from April through to June, to ensure a plentiful crop of yams.
