Based off Jonas' interviews, I really think Jay and Troyzan wanted Jonas gone. As a former tight alliancemate with both of them, they couldn't hide from him that they had a new alliance. With Jonas in the know, he was the most dangerous player in the game for them.
However, as I said, it would have been an even better strategy to pretend to maintain the alliance with Jonas. it would have kept their options open if the women turned on them.
