2. "No merge, no swap?" |
LAST EDITED ON 03-12-04 AT 12:30 PM (EST)Rupert The Tunnel King still has the red Chappy buff on his arm in the log roll. Also, there's no swap. All the current Chappyss are lined up behind Rob while he's rolling. And Ethan hasn't quit ... yet! Lex, Jerri and Shii-Ann are behind Rupert in the spear toss because the cameraman is off to the right side of the target, while the Mogos are at Chapera's left. It's not a straight shot with Mogos behind Rupert, or the cameraman would need a good insurance policy and a helmet.
Lastly, these two different challenges... RC and IC? The target shooting is on the beach, the log rolling appears to be at the Richard Hatch Memorial Pool. Those are Jeff's legs in light-colored pants standing on the platform over the log in the second to last picture. These reality show contestants need a reality check!

LAST EDITED ON 03-12-04 AT 12:39 PM (EST)Both of these were in S6, as RCs. The weapons challenge was for individual reward: Weapons (S6 Ep9) Description: Survivors compete in various stations testing their proficiency with indigenous Amazonian weapons: blowguns, spears and bow and arrows. At each progressive station, tribe members are eliminated, leaving a sudden-death bow-and-arrow contest for the final two. Winner Gets: Coffee Bar with cookies and pastries Winner: Alex Bell, who chose Jenna Morasca to accompany him Log Jam (S6 Ep6) Description: Each team stands together on a platform over a mud pit. Between the platforms sits a floating log. Pairs face off in a test of balance and strategy, shaking and spinning the log, each trying to force their opponent to fall off the log into a mud pit. Last one standing on the log wins a point for their tribe. First tribe to earn five points wins. Winning Tribe Gets: Spices and a bowl of fruit Winning Tribe: Tambaqui

LAST EDITED ON 03-12-04 AT 01:03 PM (EST)The weapons challenge was individual in Amazon, and what with the "ambassadors" there may be a merge this week. As Joisey noted, Rupert has a red buff on in the log-roll and Chapera is all together. In the spear-chuck caps, Rupert has a buff of indeterminate color on his right wrist. So *if* the merge happens this week, the log-roll must be a team RC, then comes the merge, then the weapons is for individual IC. ETA: as VS noted, the weapons was also a team challenge in S1. I think it's probably the IC here, whether they merge this week or not.

LAST EDITED ON 03-12-04 AT 01:36 PM (EST)Could be nothing, could be something. Don't you find it a little strange though that Rupert is up and MM's are there behind him? Also, does his buff in the accuracy challenges look (at least to me) not red? Either, as BR stated, merger and individual (though as mentioned usually there IS only one challenge and it is my understanding in all the stuff that has been written the merge even) or is it possible that Rupert, the ambassador perhaps, stays with MM and is on their tribe and competes with them for the night he stays? I'm only wondering because he did do this for the reward challenge in S7 and his buff color in the second picture does not really appear red either (though we all know what good camera work can do) If Rupert goes there and competes in the RC, this could "set up" the riddle about Rob and Rupert and the "power play" yes? I think I see reddishness on the edges but it's too dirty to make a positive id. It may be a weird camera angle but what if the ambassador competes in the RC with the tribe they're visiting? It'd be a bit less to cram in to one apparently busy episode. Bob Dang! Well, it looks reddish in my photo program if not in the above pic. Double dang! If Rupe is competeing with the Mogos and we don't see Ethan or Kathy behind him with the rest of the Mogos one of them is with the Chappys. Kathy is the logical choice but golly wouldn't it be amusing if it's Ethan?

Turns out the swap is just to compete with during RC and share the reward. This sets up the Aquaman Boston Kid showdown. Rupert, true to form, helps MM kick Chapera's a$$. This does not sit well with the Robfadda. Lucky for Rupert that the merge will happen before Chapera goes to TC and Rob will have bigger fish to fry. Rupert returns home for the IC and Chappy kicks the sh!t out of MM. Lex continues his brilliant plan of making MM as weak as possible prior to the merge and Ethan goes bye-bye. LAST EDITED ON 03-12-04 AT 03:02 PM (EST)Yeah, it looks like the first few caps are a recycled competition from S6. The first shot with Rupert in the foreground is very interesting. It *appears* that Rupert is with the MM team, but it might just be the camera angle. Usually in this kind of challenge, there is one specific area where players take their turn throwing/shooting. It might be that Rupert is merely taking his turn and the opposing tribe, MogoMogo is standing around in a group. Clearly, in the other challenge pic, Rupert is up against Ethan, so we do know that he's with Chapera for at least one challenge. ETA: Note the red buff of Rupert's arm in the log rolling challenge. Diplomatically, it would be most logical to make Rupert the ambassador though. As a "non-Chaperan" he might be safer bet with the Mogos, especially as a food provider. If Chapera wants to stay unified, and are worried about the ambassador not coming back, Rupert would be a good candidate. Jims02: 2004 CMY Anti-Executee Champ

You said, The II is not on the platform with Jiffy P. in the background. Does someone see it?Here's the last swimming pool challenge: In those pictures, you can see the II on a pedestal on the ground in front of JP's platform. It may be that the camera angle is hiding the II behind the log. Probably irrelevant, but the platform for this challenge looks bigger to me, and Jeffy's standing instead of (sitting on his A.S.S.) this time. --- UDG

I think you guys are right, this is the RC, or we would see the Idol. I think that is the same pit, but there seems to be a different platform for Jeff. Maybe they built a larger one because he was uncomfortable during the Sexual Assault Challenge. In any case, the target game is for Immunity. But I don't think Rupert is with the Mogos, I think that is the camera angle. As I said way up top, the cameraman is not right behind the target, he is off to the side, shooting somewhat diagonally across the field. That's why the Mogos, standing behind Rupert to his left, appear in that picture. Just because we see all the Mogos standing together doesn't mean they haven't merged just before the IC. It's not usually done that way, but perhaps there's another little twist. Arrive for the IC, surprise merge, followed by an immediate TC boot of Jerri. These reality show contestants need a reality check!

I think I am in the minority in stating that the log rolling is the immunity challenge. I think the "pick a tribemate" will send Rupert over to Mogo Mogo and he will compete in the REWARD challenge with them. Of course, that would the weapons challenge. So the log rolling is IC. Rupert in front of Mogo Mogo pic makes me think that Rupert is the person sent to Mogo Mogo and he has to compete for Mogo Mogo. Kathy and Ethan are not seen. This pic below goes with both the weapons challenge and seemlingly the "pick a tribemate" discussion. Notice the tools in everyone's hands. You might need to blow the pic up.
This pic has Chapera in the same clothes as the log rolling challenge. Tom is missing, and so is Rupert.
The immunity idol is not seen in the log rolling. Where could it be? Off to the side? I see two possibilites about the timeframe of the episode if Rupert is in fact competing with Mogo Mogo.
1) Log rolling is RC --- ambassadors discussed --- ambassadors sent --- weapons IC where Rupert competes. 2) Ambassadors discussed -- ambassadors sent -- weapons RC -- ambassadors return -- log rolling IC. Which is more likely? I'd say that No. 2 if it weren't for that darn immunity idol. Any ideas?

Considering we have no pictures that show the II anywhere, I do have trouble resolving a group of Mogo Mogo's standing behind Rupert. If this is a wait in line type scenario why would ONLY Mogo Mogo's be behind Rupert. Nifty camera work? Rupert IS accounted for with Chapera for the log rolling, that we can deduce because of the way the tribes are all assembled. Typically I do NOT recall tribe challenges where we see a contestant with SOLELY the other tribe in the camera shot. Individual challenges, yes, but I do not recall this.I would suspect Ethan as I stated above being the one to go to Chapera and the biggest reason is because really (if Lex is at all calling the shots) I don't think Lex would worry about Ethan going over there and jumping ship. I think it is pretty apparent that Ethan and Rob have no love lost and if WE know that Ethan romanced Jenna and Amber, I'd suspect that they would consider Ethan to be pretty safe to send (with only Tom as his past friend) Plus Ethan being a "threat" (if you will) and a past winner has already set him up as a potential boot candidate for anyone. I would suspect that Kathy would NOT want to go again or at least make it seem like she would want to and I can't fathom Lex wanting to leave his nest. I don't necessarily believe that Lex et al TRUST Jerri to send her and if they saw Thailand at all, they would have to think SA may potentially be hazardous to go over there. One other mention with the Rupert shot, IF this is par for the course and Rupert is simply in the shot with just MM's behind him, we are also, quite conveniently NOT being shown either Kathy or Ethan in the shot. That also makes my eyebrow go up as if we are being "teased" as to why is someone (or someones) missing, broaden the shot then. So if we are presuming that Kathy AND Ethan are there with their MM's why not just show it then? Then again, this could all mean nothing and everything is right with the world and the tribes

LAST EDITED ON 03-14-04 AT 01:47 PM (EST)Marko, The picture of Chapera returining to camp without Rupert was discussed in another thread. Alicia is holding a piece of paper, Amber a bottle. After some discussion, we thought it was Chapera returning with treemail (message in a bottle). In some other vid caps, Alicia is seen close up holding the paper as well.
If this was tree mail for the RC, Rupert would still be around? Maybe there are three treemails. One to send a person, one for RC and one for IC. If it was after the RC and for the IC, wouldn't they have taken Rupert before the RC, and return him right after? Rupert could be fishing and Tom simply be cleaning fish while the others got tree mail which is why they are both not in the picture. So this particual vid cap may not add to your analysis at all. Too many questions I think. Another poster (sorry, don't know who) doesn't think that the Rupert with MM throwing a spear vid cap at the RC meant anything. He was certain it was the angle. It could also be that there is only one shooting position and one target, and MM happens to be behind him. Not trying to shoot holes, just trying to help with your always excellent analysis!!! Edited to add the vid cap of Alicia.

Thanks for the help everyone!Let's keep it going, Maybe someone can help me with this: If Rupert is competing with the Mogo Mogos how is the weapons challenge IC? A) Would MB allow the "amabassadors" immunity? He would have to, or it's easy pickins for whoever loses. B) Going to the other camp just to compete for immunity and that's it? I don't know. That sounds dumb. I don't believe A nor B is likely. Either Rupert is not participating with the Mogos, or the weapons challenge is RC. Your guesses are as good as mine!

I also am inclined to believe that the tree mail comes, noting the ambassador to send to the other tribe, along with the riddle for the RC, the tribes go to RC, where an ambassador is sent to the tribes, the RC plays out-the weapons challenge- then they go back to their perspective camps and return for the IC, where the ambassadors are returned to their original tribes, and they all compete on their original tribes for immunity, the log roll, and Chappy wins. I just don't think the ambassadors would whole heartedly compete against their home tribes concerning immunity....too much animousity could come about for the losing tribe toward their ambassador to the other tribe. Boy this is getting confusing.

The visitor on the winning tribe is immune at TC. So if Rupert competes for MM & MM wins, Chappy goes to TC, but Rupert can't be voted out because he won immunity. That would make the visitors to compete hard, otherwise you throw the IC & your tribe is safe from TC.

LAST EDITED ON 03-15-04 AT 01:44 AM (EST)FWIW. I really don't think they would allow an Ambassador to compete in an IC. If they are immune (and they would have to be), they could throw it and cause their new tribe to lose, or hinder thier overall performance. Just my opinion. I looked up the definitions which were of no help: ambassador - a diplomat of the highest rank; accredited as representative from one country to another Alicia reads "representative" - a person who represents others I was originally thinking the Ambassador helped in the RC. The MM members are awfully close to Rupert in the vid cap (I know it may be the angle however). They just did that in S7 with the Rupert steal, and this is a little twist on that original idea. Log roll immunity? The lack of II in the log roll caps throws me off however. Jiffy always has it really close. And you don't see it at all, or any legs of a smaller table or anything. Just a theory, the last time they were at the Richard Hatch Memorial Pool, it was for Immunity. Where again, hitting water first was bad. Don't you think they would mix it up and make it the RC? Just talking it through.

I think I even shared your therory with Marko above, but did not committ to it and didn't give you the credit because I didn't remember it was you. However due to your amazing 15 second diagram, I now agree with your theory 100%! I have to admit, the diagram also cracked me up. Very cute indeed. A good way to end the night.

but is everyone missing the point about why the Mogos are "behind" Rupert? TJ, the only reason why I question the "weird camera angle" theory is that we've never really seen a pic like this in 7 seasons that I can remember. Plus, the mogo mogos are EXTREMELY close to Rupert. We have precedent from "pick a castaway, any castaway" Pearl Islands Episode 4 when Rupert is picked to go to Morgan to compete for an RC. If Rupert is NOT competing with Mogo Mogo, what exactly do the "ambassadors" do? That's what I would really like to know. With an RC, IC, and a tribal council to fill the episode, that's a lot to get in. It makes sense that the "ambassadors" might compete for the opposing tribe. Am I sure? No way! I'm just playing evil, devil's advocate. Mark

>could it be possible that the vidcap of Rupert and Ethan competing together on the log roll is actually them competing for the opposite tribe as ambassadors? Rupert competing for Mogo, Ethan competing for Chappy? at the RC?Nah, there's a Chappy flag on the side Rupe's competing on and Kathy's lined up after Ethan. Here's the Africa pic, much like the S6 pic, though they weren't really that close. I agree, if your own tribe is lined up over to the side it would seem they'd be standing where MM is behind Rupe. I have a problem with the single target theory. In my pre-caffeine brain that would let us in for a very tedious, everyone must shoot with at least two weapons, highest point total wins challenge. Marko,You are right. That is a lot to fit into one episode. Not another theory, just bringing it up. You know they have to be told at some time when they arrive at the new camp why they are there, and for how long. What if they take a slightly different twist on another S7 idea with others visiting a camp, and make them pilfer an item from the camp. With no preparation on either of the camps parts, it could be interesting, and last only a few minutes. Not that I think this happens, just trying to point out another instance of a non-tribe member at a camp's activities.

This picture shows Rupert throwing a spear at a target, and there appears to be only one spear in the vat to his right. We've also got a picture of Jerri competing (shooting a bow): I don't think we've seen anyone else actually *competing* in this challenge. When I first saw these, I actually thought that maybe Rupert & Jerri were the ambassadors, and that possibly, they were the only ones competing for their respective tribes (i.e., Rupert for Chapera and Jerri for Mogo - not mixed up). Unfortunately, I haven't been able to watch the stupid video preview since last week. I havent been able to get by the grim look on Jeri's face just past Ruperts shoulder. Just a thought. But I find it very interesting that we only see Rup and Jeri in this challenge

The one problem is: What the heck do the ambassadors do then? We know that the merged tribe (next episode) is on SABOGA ISLAND, not Mogo Mogo or Chapera. So they can't discuss what tribe's living arrangements are better. Anyone have an idea?

LAST EDITED ON 03-16-04 AT 11:57 AM (EST)The word "ambassador" is said only in the voiceover and is just a tease for the audience, imo. From the preview: JP: Both tribes select ambassadors. Alicia: Pick one representative to visit Mogo Mogo. Amber: That person might have to stay over there. From the press release and the See BS Misdirection: The tribes fear the worst when tree mail tells them they must send one of their tribe mates to the opposing tribes camp. I don't think "ambassador" means anything. The tribes will probably think this might be a set-up for the merge and they will have to choose a camp. Or that there is another twist. But they're just going there to hang out for a bit. So when do they find out what the real deal is? I think the tribes will get a second tree mail about the RC; this will be while the "ambassadors" are at the opposing camp, and they will be told that they are competing for the opposing tribe in this challenge.

I think you can see it best in the first picture of Rupert and Ethan that you posted. Also notice that Jiffy is sitting on this platform(which I think is the same platform used in the log rolling challenge), and that the II is at the level of the 2nd rung....this is exactly the area in question with the Ethan and Rupert shot on the log...very suspicious. Also notice the color of the table that the II is on...it is blending in with the color of the sand, camouflaged.

Flower, that looked odd to me as well but in a few shots it appears as a light area. The platform is just flat wood slats, including the steps and I'd think we wouldn't be straining our eyes to pick out something darkish and roundish that's about a foot tall. The area looks too thin and light here: They usually have a special table, platform, or podium for the II and don't just stick it on a step. The top part of it's more likely to be sticking up directly behind Ethan's head. I've enlarged the pic to 8x10 but don't want to post a pic that big so I've cropped it. There is a dark area there and I cannot tell if it's part of the next step down or a slight bump up. Since 2 1/2 to 3 feet are obscured by the log it could be there on the same table as before or this isn't the IC and it's not there at all. Bob

Hello, all. After a long abscence, I have decided to drop back in with some crappy observations of my own. Here goes. With Ethan in the position he is in over at MM, I have real trouble believing that he would be allowed to be the "tribal representative" to the other tribe, for fear he would screw over the MMs at any given opportunity. I think it is quite possible that Rupert is the Chappy rep, as he has proven in similar situation (last season) to be very loyal to his own tribe. This could also possibly lead to the Rupert/Bahston run-in, if he does participate in the rc, so I'm with that. So, who is the MM rep? Well keeping with logic, I don't think that MM would send Kathy on one hand, because SHE was CHAPPY's choice for the shared RC, Shi-Ann, probably not, because in past survivor play, she has been known to jump sides like a shark trying to escape DICKHATCHES clutches. LEX would be too fearful of a girlpower alliance forming in his abscence, so I think JERRI is probably my choice. She is one of the most devious and nasty players in survivor history, and I think the one thing that MM can count on is nobody at Chappy trusting her, so she would be a good choice. As far as the caps are concerned, I think it is possible that RUP and JERRI are the only ones who compete in the RC, which is weapons. The log rolling just feels like an IC to me, call it gut or whatever. It just seems like the personal nature of this challenge would be a better IC. 81. "RE: Problem solved!" |
Now let's speculate as to the winner of the log rolling RC....We have Robfadda(an accomplished balancer re:construction worker)vs. Lex....Lex loses taking a nasty hit to the noggin on the way down(should knock some sense into him...obviously it does'nt), then we have Alicia vs. Shii-Ann and who in a million years would predict Shii-Ann winning over Alicia, and then we have Rupert vs. Ethan in a very close call, perhaps too close to call. So it is Chappy 1, Mogo 1, with one tie?So perhaps it will be Amber vs. Jerri, and Jenna L. vs. Kathy Out of these pairings I would definately pick Jenna L. to LOSE no matter who she is up against....and I can't predict who would win the other coupling. So IMO, Chappy 1, Mogo 2, and 2 contests in question....I think I'll lean toward a Mogo win.

91. "Where's the II?" |
At first we couldn't find the II for the log roll...now we know that's the RC. Can anyone find the II in the bullseye pics? What's the concenses regarding two ppl being voted out eventually? Are they going to speed things up? JP said "if/when there's a merge"... Instead each tribe will compete for an individual immunity necklace. This throws the tribes off, thinking they won't merge afterall. Then, both tribes will show up at TC, vote 2 ppl off, then immediately after TC is done, JP annonces they are now merged, and tells them to head to the run down Saboga camp.

92. "Winner of RC" |
Thanks to FSUguy for posting the link for the new shot of Jiffy telling the survivors about the RC, Jiffy said that the first tribe to reach 5 points WINS....so it will not involve 2 rounds. So we know Rob vs. Lex=1 point Chappy, Alicia vs. Shii-devil=1 point Mogo, Rupert vs. Ethan= tie or Rupert wins? Which of these two do you think is the winner, it is just so close, but due to Ethan's body being lower than Rupert's, I'll bet that Jiffy calls this one for Chappy, or a tie.So, I really can not possibly imagine Jenna L. winning so I'll give that point to Mogo....So, Chappy-2 points, Mogo 2 points, and if Amber is the balancer that she appeared to be in the Outback, and judging from the Dicquegate challenge, I'll wager on Amber winning against Jerri....so, a Happy Chappy win????
