"EP1 Preview Tape" |
A friend of mine, who "works in the industry", got to view the preview video of the first episode. Here's what he had to sat about it: -----------------------------------------------------------------
I watched it last night. Unfortunately, it cuts off just as the IC gets rolling, so I don't know who wins IC, and I don't know who goes home. But I did see some things that confirm spoilers. The Immunity Idol is in fact two pieces, although Jeff does not spin the tale we've read. He just indicates that it represents Man and The Environment. Tribes that finsh first and second each win immunity and get a piece of the idol. The IC is based on Quest for Fire, the first challenge on the first show. The groups start on platforms out in the water, swim to a floating torch on a platform, unhook it from the anchors, light torches, and swim to the next floating platform with a torch. This continues until the free the last platform in the line, which they have to bring to the beach. Once they carry this thing onto the beach, they have to push it under an obstacle, and then carry to the finish and light the final torch. The TV guide picture is, as we suspected, the final moments of the IC. Other tidbits: The suprising alliance is Rudy and Rupert. Rudy approaches Rupert, saying "I hear you are a man of your word," and proposes an alliance. Rupert agrees immediately, and is really happy that Rudy, the navy SEAL saw through all the tie die and hippie hair to what is inside. Typical Rudy, and typical Rupert. And a very interesting alliance. Jenna and Jerri do seem to have an alliance, although nothing is explicitly said about it. Rob C seems to be getting along well with Alicia. Tom is disgruntled with his teammates, and dislikes RobM.
Jerri comments on the problem of being in the same tribe with Tina, who hates her. I think that comment foreshadowed Tina's ouster. Another alliance forms pretty quickly as well. Robfadda and Lamber both complain about the shelter on day 2, and Alicia gets into a snit and gives Rob hell. Call that the anti-alliance. So Rob and Amber head off to gather some wood together and form an alliance. Rob says she's a good partner because she's gorgeous. (Same old Rob, I guess. But he's right. She looks better than she did in the Outback.) A third alliance that springs up is between Kathy and JennaM, who are out for a walk. They are joined by Shii-Ann, who is afraid of missing something. What they don't realize is that King Richard is lurking in the woods listening to them. When all six are back in camp Richard tells Colby and Lex what he heard, and they all get a good laugh out of it. They all realize they are totally paranoid, but agree to put aside all the game play until they finish the shelter and establish the camp. (Of course, they all want the others to stop plotting, but are perfectly willing to do so themselves.) Richard is even more obnoxious this time around. He really is laughing at all of them, and doing nothing to help out. He seems to be begging to be ousted. He also looks really flabby, but he comments on how stupid the others were to show up so skinny. BUT ... even though he's a complete pompous ass, and wearing a huge target, he's got a fan. Shii-Ann has nothing good to say about him to her teammates, but in confessional she says she wants to keep him around because he's entertaining, and the place wouldn't be the same without "King Richard." Boy, she IS stupid. That's about all I can remember right now. The helicopters and naval escort are all real, and each group of six does not know who else is in the game. They meet up for the first challenge, and there is lots of excited smiling and waves. The biggest surprise to the others is the last guy to hit the beach, which is Rupert. He gets a cheer from the others two tirbes. Oh, and there is this. Susan Hawk wears a bikini. Blecch.

KB, any chance your "friend" is MB and you've gone over to the dark side with this disinformation? Well, for what it's worth, KB's <ahem> friend seems to confirm a couple of sleek28's assertions but contradicts another. A Jerri/Jenna1 alliance? Check.
If Rudy is out in E2, good chance Rupert lied. Check. Chapera the "love tribe"? Oops. Only 24 hours to go!!!!

Rupert can maintain his alliance to Rudy, and still watch Rudy walk the plank. Rudy + Rupert vote Ethan, because they want past winners eliminated. Jerri, Jenna1 convince Ethan to save himself and vote Rudy because they want to ditch the old guy. I like this Rudy-Rupert alliance. It's in keeping with Rudy's character and strategy, as well. Make an alliance on day one, and shut up about it. He nearly won the game with this plan last time.
These reality show contestants need a reality check!

Rupert can maintain his alliance to Rudy, and still watch Rudy walk the plank. And if he does, then we can forget all about this sleek business and get back to old fashioned spoiling! If he does turn on Rudy, and since Rupert learned his lesson in the Pearl Islands I'm guessing he does, looks like we're still debating sleek's boot list into Episode 3. Really, don't you think that if Rupert gets word that Rudy is the target, he'll vote for him in a NY second? No reason to set yourself up as the next target when your tribe has lost two challenges in a row. And it's not like Rudy can call him on it if he makes F2. My guess is the whole Rupert/Rudy alliance is E2 misdirection to make us believe Rudy is safe.

By then, they'll have fire, they'll be leading the pack with their 6 original tribemembers intact, they may have a handful of rewards to their name and two former Survivor winners will already be gone. ROB MARIANO? And this is the woman that supposedly wins the whole thing? (On the other hand, I'm liking that "looks better than she did in the Outback") Here's a laugh for fellow spoilers: Here in my office we did a blind draw pool. I drew Jenna Morasca. There goes that $10.

The way I understand it, those pics at the beach are at the location where the first IC both begins and ends. The tribes arrive separately, revealing their identities to the other tribes at that moment. So some of the pics we have seen are pre-challenge, and some are post-challenge, but they are all in the same location and all within a 1-hour time frame. I think.

"...strong enough to stick with us." Seems pretty explicit to me. Unless this is E2?? Hmmm, it seems Rupert has a couple of alliances in the works...

__________ I don't think this is Ep1 if they are talking about voting off two winners. I think the decision being made is Tina or Ethan. Rupert probably convinces the others that it is better to keep Ethan and try to win some challenges before throwing him out. And yeah, this sure looks like an alliance to me.

D'oh! Right you are, TJ. If two winners are still around in Saboga, this is an E1 conversation.I also agree with your assessment of Rupert's position regarding the choice between Tina and Ethan. And while the plan could be to make Ethan the next boot from this tribe, losing two consecutive IC's might change that thinking. I'm sure MB will spend plenty of time in E1 laying the groundwork for an Ethan boot in E2 so that a Rudy boot would come as a surprise. We'll get Jenna1 and Jerri targeting the past champs and the Rudy/Rupe alliance. Seems to present a very logical, although speculative, case for a Rudy boot if, in fact, Saboga returns to TC in E2. Now, all we need are some vidcaps!

Hate Tribe?? Man, I thought that the Chapera Tribe would be a tight knit group with the exception of Susan. Plus, with the vidcaps, it seemed that Alicia and Tom really got along well while so did Rob and Amber (the latter is proven). But with Alicia going off on Rob and Tom openly disliking him, it makes me wonder why Alicia or Tom wouldn't be the first off of this tribe instead of Rob C. since Rob M./Amber seem to also have Rob C.'s vote on their side. Another note, Amber and Rob may not be happy with the shelter because it wasn't done the way they wanted it done. Remember S4, Rob wasn't exactly the hardest worker (he even headed the Lazy Alliance - S/V/R/S). The others may have taken charge and done it their own way- I could see Alicia, Tom, and Sue doing that and Rob C. too, being that he wants to blend in until the mid and late game. It now seems obvious that the romance is between Rob M. and Amber. It would have been funny to see Cesternino hook up while having a girlfriend at home and trying to cut everyones throat, oh well. I still like Chapera and their members (mainly for the drama) even though they don't like each other. -PP
