"Survivors know about each other on interviews"
Hey, so I've been watching the videos on the early show site ( http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/01/28/earlyshow/series/survivor/main596466.shtml ) and the 'Video Profiles' on the CBS All Star Website ( http://www.cbs.com/primetime/survivor8/index.shtml )

these interviews seem to be taken at the same time (same clothing), and it seems that the survivors know who's on their tribes. I'm pretty sure that the survivors had a little vacation time together before they were shipped off to the islands, and I think that these interviews were taken during this time.

It's also evident that they have no idea who's on the other tribes.

Here are a few bites that I found interesting:

Ethan in the early show segment said: "Everyone's back, we got the jerk,we got the snake, we got the nice guy, we got the hot chick, we got the mom, " Isn't he rattling off the members of his tribe?
jerk-rudy, snake-jerri, nice guy-rupert, hot chick-jenna, mom-tina.

In her profile Shii Ann says she doesn't know how many tribes there are on her profile, which would make sense if she knew the other people on her tribe or how many days it's gonna take. She Also talks about beating RICHARD. perhaps an early target.

In the early show of Saboga, Jenna says Jerri's name when talking about how she respects her decision to do a little porno. It sounds like she'd be open to a 'softer, more human' Jerri.

The Early Show segment of Chapera, Amazon Rob says he knows that Boston Rob is there, and says that Boston Rob played a bad game.

Amber gave this interesting quote in her profile : I'm well liked, I think, among all the poeople, and I'm gonna use that to my advantage. I'm well liked, now, among the girls and the guys.

Rupert, talking about Chapera, says that he thinks that the survivors from older seasons (everyone else on his team) have gone soft from the media coddling.

In her profile Sue says she hates corperate people, and she said that the passed winners pissed all their money away. (a little animosity to past winners?)

So this isn't of much pure spoiling value (as the game hadn't formally begun), but it gives you an impression of the early tribal dynamics. Already, it seems that Robs may react against each other, and Jerri isn't (immediately) hated by everybody. Also it enforces what we've been hearing about animosity against past winners.

Strangely, I can't get the Saboga Tribe Video to play on the early show website, only the audio... Maybe they don't want spoilers picking apart their clips?

The video of Saboga plays okay for me...

Yeah. I had just read one of the interviews with MB where he talked about the cast not even knowing who their tribemates where until they got to the island and then watched the early show stuff.

He was obviously blowing a lot of smoke, or else these interviews weren't done BEFORE they got to the island. They obviously know who is on their tribe, and a lot of the people on the other tribes as well.

john, the MB interview says that they didn't know who else was there until they got on the boat with their other tribe members. But I don't think he means a boat that took them to their camps. From the Winged Monkeys article:

The three tribes of six were formed before the game started. The players were separated by tribes into three different locations while awaiting for the game to start

What I think happened is:

Each castaway arrived in Panama. Each was taken to a boat where they encountered the other five members of their tribe. The boat took that tribe to a holding location for (a few days? a week?).

Individual members of different tribes (Rob M, Jerri) are seen giving pre-game interviews in the same location, so there may have been a central location where they were all taken for that purpose; however, the tribes were carefully quarantined so that they were never there at the same time and never saw each other.

Finally on day 1, each contestant's clothing is selected by production, each tribe gets its "military escort" (by boat, plane, whatever) to its camp, and the game begins. The tribes are still isolated from each other at their respective camps for days 1 and 2, so they still don't know who else is there (any names mentioned is just speculation). More media interviews take place during these first 2 days of the game.

Finally on day 3, the three tribes are assembled at the first challenge location, and they get to see the other 12 players for the very first time.
