lv2shop 2 desperate attention whore postings DAW Level: "American Cancer Society Spokesperson" 01-15-04, 11:36 PM (EST) "The pool of 24?????" I'm sorry if this isn't where this post belongs. I have been reading all of your wonderful posts for a long time now, but I am very new to posting myself. I just read an article from SNN that said Roger B. had been in a pool of 24 survivors MB was choosing from. I am curious about who were the other five. I posted once before that I met Clay Jordan from Thailand in the summer, and he told us he had been contacted, and he was sure he was in but apparently he wasn't. So does anybody have a clue who the other five were who were being considered?   Top

And Theresa - I don't remember anything special about her - why whould she be in? Frankly speaking - I think that ASS would have been much more interesting had they had 24 players instead of 18. I find it hard to believe Sandra would have wanted in on ASS, though MB may have asked her. She hadn't even found out if she won her own installment yet. Would you feel like going right back out there, only to maybe get voted off early, when there was a really good chance you'd already won a million? I don't think I would. I honestly don't think that Sandra would have done it again. Especially so quickly on the heels of the last one. She'd want to spend time with her family. I have no idea if Sandra would do it or not, but according to Porno Brian Heidik, all winners were offered opportunity to return. Not that Brian is known for honesty, but I do believe all winners were offered the chance to come back, but that the three that likely declined felt they had little chance and probably that it wasn't worth it. Also don't know if pool of 24 is true, but Sean Rector told me he was one of the last few people and "got cut at the very end."   Top

On p. 35, it says: "Deciding which names belonged on that margee was 'very unscientific,' Burnett says. First, he grabbed a legal pad and jotted down the most memorable characters from each season. (Winners weren't automatically listed: Thus, Marquesas' Vecepia Towery and Thailand's Brian Heidik didn't make the cut.)" (bold added for emphasis) So let's go back and talk about Sandra. No, she didn't know if she was the winner, but having taken 6 weeks off to shoot S7, I'd imagine it would be tough for her convince her boss to take another 6 weeks off. That's 3 months that she's been away from her job - not bad if your a teacher but probably not good if you do another 9 to 5 job. Plus that's more time away from her husband and kids, which I think would be too much to ask. That being said, I would LOVE to see Sandra on the next ASS. She could beat Richard easier than Rupert could ever even think about.   Top

Well, another report (I forgot the exact source) said that MB first contacted each and every past Survivor contestant to find out if they were available for the dates, and then eliminated all those who weren't. Vee and Brian might not have been the most interesting people in their series, but I don't believe for a second that they were never approached about participating in All Stars. And I think if they'd said yes, MB would have put them in. They probably both said no right off the bat.   Top

Agree, BR... you can't tell me that MB wouldn't have been salivating at the prospect of Dicque and PornoBrian butting heads in the same tribe (you know he'd probably put them together with the way they think). So, I certainly believe that Brian was offered a spot and turned it down. Same thing with Sandra... she KNEW she was in the final two and probably the million dollar winner considering who she was up against in Lillian, so the burning desire to deal with liars and backstabbers so soon again (what, Jon wasn't enough?) wasn't quite there so soon after filming had ended for S7. On the other hand, Rupert was seriously unhappy about how his demise went down so he was spoiling for another shot. Vee? Snore. ZZZZ. And I can completely see her as the type to turn down another shot in ASS. One person I definitely would have liked to see in ASS is Hunter, a chance at redemption for him, and he probably would have been placed in a group with RobM and gotten a shot at booting him.   Top

The way I see it, MB probably hoped the winners would have a halfway decent shot at repeating. The best way to ensure that would have been if all seven came back. Then some could conceivably align and get farther even if one or two got picked off early. But with only four coming back, they are a woeful and highly targetable minority, and I just think they are doomed. MB probably sensed that as well, but I guess he couldn't have an AllStars with NO winners on it.   Top

Sandra has stated in several interviews she would have done it but wanted more time to learn how to swim or something. Roger and Pascal have both said they were cut at the last minute (however I thought they would have been going for the same position.) Clay I believe got cut because he opened his big mouth and told people he was in - but he was considered. The others I'm not sure of only mentioned those that had been listed on SNN and TDT   Top

I don't think most of these contestants who stripped at that particular moment were thinking "if I take my clothes off right now, I'd get further in the game." Dicque did it because it was his birthday, Heidi and Jenna did it so they could get peanut butter (they eliminated themselves from that particular IC early), and Jon did it because he's simply an idiot. Andrew, RyanO and Wussten -- just a display of teamwork that didn't help them win the challenge. None did it to further themeselves in the game financially.   Top

I think if you ask any 10 people on the street, 9 will immediately point to porn for the sleaze factor while they won't say the same thing about a photo spread in a magazine. There's a difference in the eyes of a majority of people. I won't get into the "what is art and what isn't" debate, but that's how the average person thinks. Regardless... this issue has no bearing on 'Survivor' or how the game is played.   Top
