Nasty Fact #1: As a group, our ASSes have participated in nearly every challenge and heard about them all. (Rupert didn't get to run the S7 board, but would have heard the discussion of the ones he missed at Tribal Council. And there's always chats with other jury members.) They've potentially watched six whole seasons and part of a seventh. They can compare notes. Nasty Fact #2: MB has basically sworn to make things harder than ever, given that he's got experienced players who were probably ready for a standard degree of difficulty.
Nasty Fact #3: The Challenge Creation Crew generally isn't all that original. New spins on old challenges, sure, but completely new problems to solve? Doesn't happen that often. Lots of 'remember this' and 'hit that' with the occasional 'assemble these', 'carry those', and the ever-popular 'break contact and you're gone'. Intelligence, speed, stamina, strength, memory, dexterity. Those are the general fields: everything is a singular attack on one or more of those qualities.
So -- given all that, what do you think we're looking at for challenges in ASS? Balance beams again -- only with hurricane fans (Paramount F/X level) targeting the torso? 'Fallen Comrades' -- but with questions like 'Whose fingerprint is this?', with the example shown actual size? Endurance challenge to not lose contact with the Immunity Necklace -- but who knew about those self-heating filaments until about three minutes in? Just how challenging, quasi-sick, and -- to pull out that most accursed word -- extreme -- is this going to be?
(First Reward Challenge proposal: a tank filled with 10,000 gallons of water is placed in front of each tribe's camp, along with a small supply of wood, nails, one hammer, and sixteen sandbags. The tribe has ten minutes to construct a floodbreak to save their home from being washed away. The reward is -- well, the reward is that your camp is _not_ washed away, and you don't have to retrieve it or rebuild from scratch. (Naturally, since all camps are on or close to the beach, the tank will be positioned to send everything towards the ocean.) Certainly worth playing for, don't you think?)
