Design Star is excellent. The wife and I always Tivo it. I think a team challenge is a better challenge to start with. It makes the contestants get to know each other right away and reveals more to us about their character.
I agreed with the Top 6 and the Bottom 6 except for Tom, who should not have been in the Bottom 6. Nina's room was completely BLAND. I have NO IDEA why they designated her the top designer of the week. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen so many safe designs during the white-room challenge.
Julie should never have been booted. I completely disagree. Her room was a big miss, but she was the most creative designer in the challenge. When you take that kind of risk, sometimes its great and sometimes its terrible, but she should have been awarded for actually trying something imaginative. Plus, her hosting was too scripted, but it was still better than the blond who spent her entire video babbling about how terrible her room was.
Alex didn't even finish his room. He and Emily should have been the Bottom 2.
But no, lets go ahead and award the designers who played it safe and get rid of the most creative one. I thought Julie got ROBBED.
Bad start for the season.
