"SurvivorBlows Tribe, It's Time to Vote!" |
I bet you thought I'd forget to post this early this week, didn't you? Go ahead, you can tell me. It won't hurt my feelings. Much. *sniffle*The Rules 1. Please put the name of your choice for this week's bootee IN THE SUBJECT HEADING! This is really easy. Just erase the bit where it says "Re: SurvivorBlows Tribe, It's Time to Vote!" and replace with your vote, i.e., Rupert. This makes it easier to tally votes quickly and accurately. Oh, and btw... nicknames are tougher to tally unless they're REALLY obvious without actually reading your vote. 2. Reply ONLY to this post! Curves on women are good. Curves on vote threads are bad. The first part bears repeating: I like curves on women. Y'know, I'm not sure if I've been clear enough about this. Curves on women are really great things. EXCEPTION TO RULE 2! VOTE CHANGES! If it just so happens that you wanna change your vote for whatever reason, REPLY TO YOUR ORIGINAL POST! Your new post heading should read "VOTE CHANGE: Osten (or Whoever)". That said, there is not an exception to the fact that curves on women are good. 3. THIS IS NOT A DISCUSSION THREAD! DO NOT TREAT IT AS SUCH! There are plenty of places on the Spoilers Forum to debate the merits of people's arguments. Let's keep it out of here, please. Or I keel. 4. No sig pics! It was suggested that because this can be such a long thread, sig pics make it really hard to load for folks with dial-up connections. So show some respect to your slower brethren (and sistren). And really, if I can refrain from flashing my beautiful greens and making people all swoony, surely you can refrain just this once from extolling IceCat's animated glory, no? And just outta curiosity: has anyone ever had deep-fried turkey, or is this some sick plot on the part of my wife's family to kill me? Have fun! LAST EDITED ON 11-24-03 AT 06:27 PM (EST)The two most obvious targets this week are Burton and Christa. Christa is easy. She was the back-up boot if Rupert won immunity. Christa is portrayed as the food saboteur. Christa cries that she wants to go home in the previews. All oeyes on Christa. Hey, Burnett. We didn't just start watching this crap yesterday. Foo! Burton won the RC. Burton won IC. Burton couldn't go under the radar if he tried. Painted a big target on his back, front and anywhere else you'd want to paint a target. Think Tijuana and Darrah will be satisfied to settle for fourth and fifth? Didn't think so. Think Sandra and Christa are gonna sit back and allow the others to pick them off without a fight? Think again. Burton does not win IC and the others realize if they don't get him gone now, they might not have another chance. Buh-bye, Burt.

LAST EDITED ON 11-26-03 AT 02:34 PM (EST)LAST EDITED ON 11-26-03 AT 11:06 AM (EST) Because VerucaSalt told me so last week! And listening to VS is proving to be vastly superior than being misdirected by promos, spoilers, JP quotes, etc. So, for the question of the week: my dear VerucaSalt, will it be Christa next week? forehead ETA: what a delight to see Veruca novels in the morning VS, make sure to guard against carpal tunnel syndrome - get an ergonomic keyboard and an ergonomic trackball; we enjoy reading your novels! "But as forehead knows, my thoughts are logically illogical " Well, I'm actually buying most of your logic My doubt about a Rupert boot last week was in seeing B/L/J/D/T getting together in the promo. I did decide that MB wanted to prepare the AV for the star of the show getting booted. But would he find that SO important to give away the final 5, I think not. So, I agree with your logic that Christa and Sandra are not booted in ep10 and ep11. Could Christa get the boot now to be followed by say Burton - taking the two ep11 titles into account (Fester et al.)? This is a judgement call. I do think the IC is perfect for Christa (yeah, I know, I'm giving away info BR would like to know - alright, my chances of winning SI now are slim and none).... I also think Sandra is not going anywhere anytime soon (take your pick of editing, betting spoilers, TDT tip, Snewser's scorecard, mention of female alliance that all of a sudden disappeared from the show, etc). Now in ep11, as you eloquently and logically pointed out in the ep11 title thread, I expect Sandra to be Christa's Brutus (or maybe Darrah to be Tijuana's). It strikes me that both Jon and Sandra have learned from Amazon Rob that you can snake yourself through this game by flipflopping - as long as you're very careful (in Sandra's case we still need to see this, but I don't think we have to wait much longer). So, the only part of your logic I'm not buying is that after a Christa boot the alliance would run its course - flipflopping can occur at anytime, especially as long as Jon is on the show. (But this is just a minor technicality.) We seem to agree on a Burton boot (for logical and illogical reasons as well as your telling me last week). Back to my question of the week: would that imply Christa next week??? And lastly: "Though forehead keeps telling me this is an illogical game, my penchant for being logical won't listen. Yes, I know about the bearded man." I guess survivor acumen comes down to a balance of ratio and emotio. I think the bearded man finishing 3rd will be as male and as bearded as the 3rd bootee turned out to be male. Unfortunately, by definition, males like myself lack female intuition. We'll see soon enough. VerucaSalt sure makes voting fun ETA2: Veruca - I guess we were too fast in concluding that Drake is no more lol

LAST EDITED ON 11-24-03 AT 06:49 PM (EST)was strongly leaning towards Christa, so she's my alternate, but i explained my thinking re: a burton boot in the IC thread as follows: Sandra enters into an agreement with either T/D or J/L (or both) to save her butt, and agrees to sacrifice Christa. However, Sandra is stripped of immunity and Christa wins, forcing the plan to change. They agree to vote off immunity threat Burton while he is vulnerable in return for Sandra being Christa's Brutus in Episode 11. ETA all the Christa stuff (esp. "I just want to go home!") seems to be classic misdirection

I've been a lurker since Africa but I just never decided to actually share my ideas until now. I really enjoy reading all of your posts each week! Anyway, I believe it's Christa's turn for the boot because the tribe isn't ready for their last food provider "to get hurt". If they're smart, they'll get rid of Burton simply because he's an immunity threat but as we know, these people aren't the sharpest tools in the shed. Plus, Christa seems to annoy the crap out of plenty of people(per booted contestants interviews)-which isn't a good thing to do on SURVIVOR. Burton's demise(and the first of our Outcasts) will come in another week, I can't wait! *I hope my stay here at Blows is great. Alt: Burton PPLLLLEEEEEAAAAASSSSSEEEE NOT(!) TIJUANA!!!!!! -PP

Although there are some compelling reasons to think Burton might be in danger, when in doubt I go with game logic, which screams Christa as the Outcast/Morgan alliance's next target. Besides, next week's episode title seems to scream Jon betraying Burton, so we only have one more week to deal with Burton. But ExI isn't sure...he needs to spend more time at the spoiling boards next week.

LAST EDITED ON 11-25-03 AT 00:43 AM (EST)what, are they going to live on lemons for the next 18 days??? Also, if anyone BUT Burton sabotaged the food supply, they would not do so if they were part of an alliance that was going to take out their only other source of food. Re why I think burton didn't sabotage the food supply: Burton knows how important food is to maintaining his own strength (thus his physical edge). And while Burton knows he can catch a few fish, he hasn't (even in the TC where Rupert was booted) ever purported to bring in the kind of volume that it would take to make up for a sabotaged food supply. (In the spirit of full disclosure, Burton IS a good friend of mine, but I don't know any more than the rest of you!) PS Love this board!

LAST EDITED ON 11-26-03 AT 01:42 PM (EST) Why? Because I said so last week
Though forehead keeps telling me this is an illogical game, my penchant for being logical won't listen. Yes, I know about the bearded man. Would they be willing to starve the rest of their time there if Burton (a notable challenge threat) did not win immunity. - I think they would gladly take the risk. I'm suspicious that we saw hints of a women alliance and then it disappeared like the proverbial rabbit in the hat. And my most logical reason? If Christa is going this week then I would not believe that Burton would go the following week. Sandra would be going next week because the L/T/D/J/B would run the natural course as shown to us. Why switch especially considering the palpable animosity (or not?) that Sandra shows in this episode during this "sabatoge" Logically speaking to me, I can't rationalize a Burton boot next week if the alliance is staying true to course and getting rid of Christa this week. I'm sure there are valid arguments for this happening but Sandra (who I have a hard time believing would win an immunity much less two in a row and in same token have a hard time resolving that Burton would lose immunity two in a row) would be my logical pick for next week. Since I don't believe Sandra goes next week, then I can't believe Christa goes this week. But as forehead knows, my thoughts are logically illogical And my biggest reason, he helped orchestrate Rupert's boot and for that, I want him to go whether I am wrong or not (Curiously watching this site as to how long it takes for people to pick Tijuana )

I was going to pick Christa and she will be my alt. pick. But the whole "Boggle" like challenge has me believing that this will be a race to the finish between Sandra and Christa. I see the video sequence of Sandra lifting her arms as the moment where she "believes" she's finished first and gotten 20 different words. She lifts her arms in a "I've finished" way. JP says "Sandra wins Immunity" before checking all the words. He sees she's spelled something wrong or used a letter that wasn't there...something like that...and says, sorry Sandra, and they add 30 seconds to the clock to allow the others to have a go again. Christa will win the cutlass. With Christa having been the bargaining chip that Sandra used in her talk with T/D/L, Sandra goes back to them and says, she's still in it, she'll still get rid of Christa but it will have to be next week. This week we take out Burton and his strength next week we take out Christa. T/D/L agree (though L reluctantly and I believe she'll go to Jon to tell him and he'll join in this voting strategy). Burton gets blindsided at TC with a 6 - 1 vote. By the way, Christa doesn't go next week as per Veruca logic. mistofleas --

LAST EDITED ON 11-25-03 AT 01:40 PM (EST)alternate: Sandra. Playing the odds here. PI is in a heavy gender imbalance, 5 women and 2 men remaining. Past history suggests that this situation will even out for an episode or two or three. Christa and Sandra are the remaining loyal Rupert alliance players. Their only hope at this point is to get T and D to jump alliances again, which actually would give T and D a better chance than remaining in their current alliance (but they probably won't see it that way). Christa seems to be the one who catches the blame for some sort of camp/food supply sabotage, which is pretty much the kiss of death in this game whether it is fair or unfair. Burton is the last standing provider and there is too much time remaining in the game for the others to risk starvation. Old Drakes may not be impressed by this logic, but old Morgans (Lill, T and D) have been through it already and won't want to risk it again too soon. The food supply question will play in his favor, regardless. Jon, who should have been axed before it even got to the jury stage, will have the sympathy angle in his favor at this point thanks to "The Big Lie" (it would seem). He should be safe despite the total illogic of anyone having any trust in him whatsoever. Finally, it's Thanksgiving, time to serve up some Big Bird.

Hey Nash, thanks for making my foolish mistake last week look like a regular occurence.About Burton - Darrah and TJ know that if they're going to go anywhere in this game they need to break up the three-way alliance of B/J/L. Then it'll be down to their two, S and C, and the loose duo of Jon and Lill. Clearly S/C aren't going to reconcile with J/L, so D/T will be in the driver's seat. The only thing that can foil their plans would be a Burton IC win this week. But hey, he's no Colby. And really, why hasn't he been called Butron all along? -P "Never criticize a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes. Then you'll be a mile away and he won't have any shoes." - Bob Hinck

75. "Vote Change: Christa" |
I've rethought my position on this. The only thing that would save Christa is immunity. I cast my original vote on the hunch that she wins. I've changed my mind as it doesn't make any sense given next week's title and the much-rumored F3.It's now clear to me that next week's boot HAS to be Burton. Nothing else makes sense given the title. Burton is the tribal leader now, as was Caesar. Jon is his right hand, as was Brutus. The rest of the tribe is wary of his power and his challenge strength. Also, Caesar's assassination came as a surprise...at least to Caesar. At this stage, Christa wouldn't be surprised about getting the boot, whether Sandra helped or not. Burton would. Ergo, Burton goes next week. Christa is the obvious choice for this week, which is what pushed me away from her. All the previews are classic MB misdirection. But sometimes a pipe is just a pipe. Fester <-- believes in the Tooth Fairy, Santa Claus, and the Super-Secret Sandra/Jon Alliance, and has been wrong on many, many occasions this season.

Unless she wins IC I think she is pegged as next to go. I don't think Darrah and T are ready to turn on Burton yet. And I doubt Lil wants to vote off Burton.

LAST EDITED ON 11-25-03 AT 05:16 PM (EST)Hi everybody! I'm a little rusty at this, but thought I'd pop in to place my first vote of this season. I think Jon will somehow weasel/lie his way into an RC win. I think Christa will win (according to Probst) the IC, then have it taken away. Sandra will then take the second stage IC, and will realize that she cannot pass it on and still continue in the game. And I think Christa will be gone this week. Next week's Brutus episode will be either Jon's or Burton's downfall.

I am voting Christa this time as a likely pick to get rid of a challenge threat who is not part of the current power alliance. I have a feeling Darrah may win this immunity and we may start seeing more of her now.

We've seen a few big food spats/blow-ups before. They always seem to hurt the accused. Christa is accused of tainting the food. We know it's false. They don't. They boot her unless she wins immunity. Does she win? I have no idea, but with a puzzle/game, I say there's about a 6 out of 7 chance she doesn't.

Burton Because I don't think he or Lil deserves to be back in the game. They never should have ruined the game by bringing them back. So I can only hope they go soon. He's also the biggest threat.

Pretty much winging it this week since I haven't had much time to absorb all the threads -- kudos to 02dawg and others for the analysis of the IC.With Christa saying she wants to go home, I'm quite sure she's going nowhere. Jon needs to be around for the snake episode, and besides, if we are particularly going to hate him tonight it makes sense that he doesn't get the boot. Burton may be in severe danger after the food fray but somehow I think he lasts at least one more week; I don't think Jon would want him gone yet because as the only remaining male he'd feel like the next target. That leaves Sandra, Tijuana, Lillian and Darrah. The last two seem the least likely to be in danger. Sandra could be in peril for mouthing off, but I think that after all the sturm and drang and hair-tearing, the duo of T and D will get broken up with T getting the shaft. Alternate pick is Sandra, with Burton as a distant third. Happy Thanksgiving, all!

Jon is preparing to stab Burton in the back, but Burton is trying to keep himself from being stabbed in the back. Lillian is always a risk to defect, even though she's his friend now. Thus, Burton wants to neutralize the potential for Old Morgan and Old Drake to be tied at 3-3. Makes sense to Jon, who sees himself as a swing voter once Burton's gone. So which of the Drakes gets bumped? I'll go with Tijuana, simply because Snewser has believed Darrah is the winner since the get-go.
