LAST EDITED ON 11-21-03 AT 03:16 PM (EST)I just dont see them taking immunity away because someone did something devious - I mean - isnt that the whole purpose to Survivor - the outwit, outplay whatever The only way that I could see someone having it removed because of something they did was maybe if they did physical harm to someone in the process of getting to the end. Like instead of cutting a rope, knifing someone in the stomach, etc. Maybe it is something like they have to dig up something which they have to bring to the finish and when lets say Burton gets there they incorrectly count and he thinks he has won and then someone says - no he doesnt - JP recounts (they probably made it more than 10 so he got confused when he ran out of fingers) so everyone scrambles again. I am just regurgitating what I said earlier but in a much more winded fashion. Edited to Say: I keep forgetting the "This is Crazy" or whatever Sandra says is from an earlier clip. I am sure it will be lame and after it happens we will all put our heads in our hands and cry. Being that this is the "BL" episode too, maybe we should all renew those extended service contracts on our TVs.

JP> "Immunity is back up for grabs Got this from <http://www.survivorfever.net/vc_wp10.html> It's taken from the promo on the SeeBS website. You make a good point about Jeff's usual words about immunity being "back up for grabs" from right before the IC begins. It is possible that that's where this particular clip comes from in the promo. ~ EmRB

I do remember one of the survivors being amazed at how MB did the editing. He would take different events a weave them into an episode. Sometimes they were days apart. Somehow it all fits together. I think they are setting up the next betrayal (not Big Lie). However, I'm not sure that it will amount to much.

LAST EDITED ON 11-21-03 AT 05:49 PM (EST)Ummm, I've been lurking here for a while, but finally signed up...YAY, or something. My first theory is that one of the survivors who wins immunity gets totally upset and flips out. It could have to do with the big lie. S/he trashes the camp including the food (I'm thinking its one of the females for some odd reason--maybe the spice rack from the pictures??!) and throws away the immunity idol. Jeff sneaky guy he is, makes the statement that if you don't care for the idol you shouldn't have it. My second thoery is they make the immunity idol in capture the flag mode. You can not wear the idol on your body, and anyone can take it from you. This means you can still pass the idol to members of your strategic team... however allows a lot of strategy in who you trust with it, and when you sleep people are gonna try and take it. Do you risk/sacrifice sleep for safety and risk losing your mental edge? It looks like the game is some kind of cipher puzzle...they probably have to descrable a message that tells them to do something. peace, --implode

Welcome. Great idea. I think most of us have better imaginations than MB's team. I remember the first season I was wondering if anyone would be murdered and eaten because of the starvation, but it didn't even come up for discussion in any of the alliances: "Hey, this is it, we need to eat or we're going to starve. Rich isn't pulling his weight, but he sure does look tasty. Let's cook him before he loses anymore weight. We'll wait until he's asleep." *wink*

Immunity is up for grabs again, but what's to say it's the current episode immunity? What are the chances it's last week's immunity? What if they found out someone cheated or something was done in error and only discovered after the TC? Rupert wouldn't have been voted out correctly. They redo the IC (maybe even a different challenge to keep it even), and Rupert wins. That would be a new twist. It also helps explain the weight loss apparent on the recent photo of Rupert taken right after he comes back. It keeps the 'bearded man' spoiler intact, since none of the other remaining men really have enough to be called bearded. And since Rupert wasn't properly voted out, they can cover up his absence for interviews and guest appearances with the latest turn of events since he really wasn't voted out. I just can't for the life of me figure out what the IC error could have been, or who might have cheated. That's the big hole in my theory. In reality, I'm grasping at straws to have Rupert come back - after all, if the outcasts can come back once, why not Our Beloved Rupert? Okay, so I'm dreaming, but it's a good dream

LAST EDITED ON 11-23-03 AT 07:00 PM (EST)Wow Badger I was surprised at your saying Burton goes home. So soon? Who do you think will vote for him? Unless he became a psycho about the food sabatoge (read as: he couldn't catch fish so he's deflecting attention away from himself) he still has an alliance with Jon, T&D and Lil. I would love to see him go btw, but I think Christa's getting too much air time. She made a statement: I want to go home. I think she'll get her wish. There's now a gif of Sandra:
However, I still don't know who actually wins immunity. Unless there is not going to be a do over and EVERYONE is open for the boot.

pdragonfly, more than any spoiler, speculation or brilliant and convincing analysis, it's a matter of WANTING burton to go. weeks ago, i did peg christa leaving immediately after rupert. the two of them were tight. and folks have had it out for christa for a while. she does seem like an obvious choice to go this week. but she is featured SO MUCH in the promos, i just can't help but think (and ok, maybe hope) that she doesn't in fact go. and remember when burton was booted the first time? he was really pissed at christa. at that time, one might've chalked it up to her staying and him going in that TC. but i wonder if part of his anger stems from the fact that she outlasts him AGAIN?!? and also, everyone MUST realize that burton is as much an immunity hog as rupert was. and if he starts power-tripping (which the promo where he's yelling at christa seems to suggest), i can definitely see folks (or D and T, at least) turning on him. PLUS: christa and burton both have thumbs-down in snewsers list and burton's in trouble on the TDT survive-o-meter.

agree badger.up until just now, i couldn't see how christa could possibly outlast burton, but now i'm leaning towards burton going first. especially with christa's prominent appearance in the teasers and what seems to be classic misdirection - "I just want to go home!" how? T/D (and maybe L and/or J) want to form an alliance with Sandra, but want Christa out first. Sandra agrees, but after having immunity stripped, Christa wins, and the plan has to change. either they take out Sandra, or get her to agree to boot Christa next episode. she takes the latter option, and they get rid of immunity threat Burton while he is vulnerable. the next week, Sandra plays Brutus to Christa's Caesar, and Christa takes the walk of shame

LAST EDITED ON 11-26-03 AT 11:34 AM (EST)Dang, I AM HE! Ditto. I scrolled down to make sure no one made the two points: (1) Christa's being set up as the bootee in promos, so she won't go. It seems like either Christa or Sandra win the IC -- one of them finishes first, but it's a retracted win. I hope Christa wins the IC. I think we'll continue to see the minority sect of the majority alliance not wanting to be the next ones out after supposedly booting the minority alliance members. So they keep bouncing back and forming a new majority with the minority against the majority-majority, making those folks a minority. Is that Don Adams' "Get Smart" enough for us? (2) The "Et tu, Brute" title for Ep. 11 (Would you be my Brutus Today?) points the masses to a backstab between Burton/Jon or Burton/Lill, when it will really be Sandra going against Christa (maybe Lill/Jon). Hmm, I just contradicted myself, didn't I? Just have to wait till tonight. -- Ra, as fast as light

58. "The puzzle.. make a word" |
LAST EDITED ON 11-24-03 AT 00:40 AM (EST)I couldnt find anywhere in this thread where there was a discussion of exactly what the IC challenge involves. I think that this picture is most telling:
I took it and turned it upside down. It appears that they have tiles of the letters that spell: SURVIVOR PEARL ISLANDS You can see 3 words spelled out on Sandra's board which would fit the pattern of these words.
And it appears that they have to find 20 different words using these letters. I think it is 20 as there appears to be about that many lines on Christa's board. It appears that Christa has the words EAR and SAVE at the top of her board. I just did this challenge myself and it took me only about 2 minutes to find 20 words... BUT I think that they might be limited to non-pleurals and perhaps find a few words of a specific length. Something like at least one word with 5 letters and one 6 letters. Who is advantaged in this competition? I could see Sandra having a slight disadvantage if English is a second language to her. She might very well be prone to spelling incorrectly. I can not see John doing well... Christa is the first person that would come to mind as far as 'intellect' but Lil might be a person that enjoys doing crosswords and word puzzles.
I think Sandra loses as per the pictures, and then LIL utimately wins IC. EDITED TO ADD: Well, I decided to head over to Survivorsucks and see what was being speculated for the IC... seems they have the same thought I had about using the words Survivor Pearl Islands. BUT BJ in mess hall also pointed out one more fact: "Interesting note: Christa, Darrah and Sandra list scrabble among their favourite board games"
I think that we should conclude that one of these women will win.. my gut is now saying DARRAH, after Sandra makes a mistake.

LAST EDITED ON 11-24-03 AT 04:44 PM (EST)I am jumping on the Boot Burton Bandwagon. Wanna know why? Too bad. ETA: Ok, I'll tell I have 5 reasons (3 reasons). 1. This is not a physical challenge and I think even Christa will realize that the odds of Burton going on a challenge run grow greater with each passing challenge. Since this challenge has nothing to do with strength or physical skill, there is a good chance the someone else(Christa or Sandra) will win. 2. Tijuana and Darrah will vote which ever way the wind blows. As long as it is not blowing up their skirts. 5(3). Jon and Sandra have to get rid of Burton at some point in order to make the F2 as planned.

A great little piece of spoiling work from Survivor Fever:INSIDE THE CHALLENGES EPISODE 10 SNEAK PREVIEW: Contributor: Keith Privett 11.25.03 Welcome back to Inside the Challenges Your challenge commentator, has little to say when the Olympic Motto of "citius altius, fortius" or "faster, higher, stronger" is replaced by "fortius, artus, solvo" or "stronger, deeper, untie" in Survivor land. (Though I will post a recap soon) However, this week's previews show a challenge, where, with the help of Adobe Photoshop 7.0 and some deduction, I can give you a better explanation of the the game ahead. A rotation and blow up of the preview Lillian's board reveals that the contestants get 20 tiles, which somewhat clearly spell out: S U R V I V O R P E A R L I S L A N D S From flipping Christa's board and blowing it up, we see that her list starts with "ear," not car as it seems at first glance. Further down are four words covered by the graphic, a four letter word ending in "nd" ("rind"?), then "sand", "lover" or "rover" and two illegible five letter words. Also the first word "sav??" on the right column is preceded by with "(5)". Thus, I believe Jeff Probst will explain it approximately as follows: "Here's how today's challenge works. You'll have twenty letter tiles which spell out a three word phrase that you all are familiar with. (They may or may not have to make this phrase first.) We want you to use those letters to make 20 more words. Three with three letters, four with four letters, five with five letters, 6 six with six letters and one each with seven and eight letters. You can not end a word with "s" and you can not use a letter more times in a word than it appears in the tiles. When you have all twenty filled in on your chalkboard, signal me. First one with all twenty filled in correctly wins immunity and is safe from the vote tonight." The six letter words are not easy if words ending with "s" are indeed prohibited. There is only one "e" and no "t" the most commonly used consonant in the English Language, no "c" or "m" . http://www.linguistlist.org/~ask-ling/archive-1997.10/msg01622.html http://www.askoxford.com/asktheexperts/faq/aboutwords/frequency Here is a sample answer key if this is the case (3) AND (5) ERROR (3) PAL (5) POSSE (or PANDA) (3) RAP (6) ISLAND (4) PEAR (6) LANDER (4) EARL (6) RAPIER (4) PLAN (6) PLANED (4) SAND (6) ROUSED (5) PEARL (6) SPOUSE (5) PLANE (7) SLANDER (or SERIOUS or PLAINER (5) PURSE (8) SURVIVOR (or SURVIVED OR ISLANDER) Note: of the options for seven and eight, I picked the two that describe another plot line in this weeks episode - slander survivor.
This might be preceded by some historical narrative either about the number 20, or about the isle of Contadora in the Islas Perlas, where pearls collected on other islands were counted prior to shipment to Europe. And maybe the number of letters in the final words varies. We are also told that the immunity is taken away. Although instincts would say "cheater" the restart could be cheating. (To go with the lies.) My suspicion, it could be instead ERROR that mistakenly approved a correct response during the first run of the challenge. In either case, with no clear 2nd Place, the event may be re-run, with the same, or a different phrase on the tiles. ---------------------------------------------------------------- For reward, we have few clues, based on the bleachers the weeping and spoilers, it reminds me of the set up of Thailand's family challenge, where the loved ones are competing, with the Survivors spectating. Perhaps Jon is crying when he learns that a loved one could not come down to compete? a wonderful kyngsladye original

Actually, Emily with the unfortunate rugburn (been there, girl!), Brian could have continued but since he said the solution out loud, he was beaten to the punch by Ted. So, you are right, everyone would probably still be in the game. I just like to see Jiffy give Jon a hard time and am hoping to see him do it again for my amusement (even though it is Jiffy's fault). Any time I can see Jon's smirks wiped out, no matter what the cause, is cause for rejoicing and since we all know he's the big liar, this would double my pleasure.

At SurvivorFever, Keith Privett has done some Ep. 10 IC analysis and here's what he thinks Jeff says to the castaways:"Here's how today's challenge works. You'll have twenty letter tiles which spell out a three word phrase that you are familiar with. (They may or may not have to make this phrase first.) We want you to use those letters to make 20 more words. Three with three letters, four with four letters, five with five letters, six with six letters and one each with seven and eight letters. For further analysis, head on over to SurvivorFever. Hope this helps. -PP
