"Episode 11 Title"
LAST EDITED ON 11-22-03 AT 02:50 PM (EST)

"Snake in the Grass"
Airdate: Thursday, December 4th

Hmmmmm. Sounds like Jon is still around Episode 11.

Edit: SurvivorFever is reporting the Episode 11 title as:
"Would You Be My Brutus Today?"

Which title is correct? I dunno. But I think we should continue discussion on both titles.

LAST EDITED ON 11-21-03 AT 10:22 AM (EST)

I think Christa is out Episode 10, and I think Sandra cuts a deal with D, T, and Lil to get rid of Burton and save herself.

Edited to say it actually may be D, T, and Jon that Sandra cuts a deal with. Burton is foolish to trust Jon. Jon would be foolish to NOT get rid of Burton before the final 4.

Snewser has Christa and Burton as the next 2 to go on his scorecard. Now I know that is not necessarily the order, but obviously evidence is pointing that way for him to place them there.

Jon would be foolish to NOT get rid of Burton before the final 4.
Jon is brilliant he's made a plan to go final three with Burton and Lil, both of who are Outkasts. No one is going to vote for an Outkast to win the million.
Everyone else wants to take Jon to the finals with them, because no one likes him and won't vote for him to win. Atleast that's what they're probably thinking.

11. "RE: Disagree"
I agree with you - the other thing is that no matter HOW MUCH people hate him, in the end, they might respect him for lasting that long. Matt should have won it last time based on the fact that he was stronger and go there on his own - but for some reason people thought that Jenna had played the game well ... yeah whutevah. So long story short, people may look back at the last 39 days and say Holy Sh... he played us all and should win.

LAST EDITED ON 11-21-03 AT 01:22 PM (EST)

i think this HAS to be about Sandra. we already KNOW Jon is a snake.

or it could be Lill, actually starting to play the game full-bore, as we got a hint of her voting with her head and not her heart this week. so I guess it could be Lill or Jon, either turning on Burton. any of the three would give the final 3 of S/L/J, which I've been agreeing with the last couple weeks a real shot

I saw enough snake in the grass imagery last night thank you very much!

I'm sitting on the couch watching one of the better episodes of Survivor we've seen in quite some time and then they start with the snake crap! I had to close my eyes and listen for like 5 minutes.

Now with the "s" word in the title, I know I'm just going to have to resign myself to a closed eye episode.

LAST EDITED ON 11-21-03 AT 12:20 PM (EST)

Gee that's awful about your fear. Guess you can't watch the Discovery channel?

My morbid fear is of quicksand. I find it very funny now. (But I still have the fear - Smallville had a scene where a woman fell into quicksand and I couldn't breath!)

Another Snake in the grass episode does seem to indicate that the alliance changes once again. Good. I really want Sandra to win and no Darrah.

Rupert said he would lie, cheat and steal - anything, to win, but it wasn't true. He didn't have what it took to look someone in the eye and lie. Now Lil is a different story. Self-proclaimed "scumbag" and "bi*ch."

Python Attacks, Swallows Woman
Fri November 21, 2003 11:35 AM ET

RANGAMATI, Bangladesh (Reuters) - A python killed and half-swallowed a woman in southeastern Bangladesh, police said Friday.
Basanti Tripura, 38, was collecting fruit with a friend in a forest when she was attacked Tuesday, a police official said. She was swallowed up to her waist.

The python, believed to have been more than 10 feet long, was killed and the body retrieved, the official said.

Did anyone notice the night shot last night where Rupert was talking to his "wife" and then they cut back to the sleeping tribe and there was a HUGE snake slithering in front of them. I was really hoping it would eat Jon or Darrah - or maybe just terribly maime, but I was horribly disappointed. How funny would it be to wake up and be like - umm - are we missing someone? Actually - would anyone actually miss Darrah?

Long time lurker here. Just had to have my say on this since I've been telling all my friends all season that Jon is a snake. I don't think there's any doubt who the snake is as he has shown his true colors many, many times (talk about mixing my metaphors!). Jon will turn on his bosom buddy Burton (another snake but not the brightest asp in the nest) when he sees the chica alliance coming together. I think Christa is the sacrificial lamb to that alliance and Burton is next on the chopping block. He will have to make like Colby to get to the final three because I also think that Lillian is going to find our how he has been using his alliance with her to get himself and Jon in the final two. And who do you think will be giving Lil this bite of the apple of wisdom? Why the evil serpent himself!

As much as I don't like Jon, he is trully playing the game. Outwitting to outlast. He probably has seperate alliances with each of the people there now. Well, maybe not with Sandra, but you can never be sure. She may be better at hiding an alliance than Lil was when she kept putting the bowling ball in Burtons tray.

i *think* the proverbial snake-in-the-grass refers to an unseen enemy. i would have to surmise then that jon might not necessarily be our episode 11 snake. (isn't he the snake-on-the-front-porch, or some such obvious location?!?) if, as the TDT site suggests, this is burton's week to go, then lil might just be a better candidate from striking that unsuspecting, but fatal blow.

Hmmm, not sure. I'm going to stay with the contention this is Jon. Remember if he is the big liar (which I say: Why yes, yes he is) they DON'T know this; only WE know this. For all intents and purposes this final doozy Jon is pulling is uncategorically, without question, the snakiest thing that could be done. If they (castaways) are completely unaware of what he has done and is slithering around he would be the snake in the grass.

As forehead knows from last boot thread, I have Burton going this week; Even with my thinking still in that camp, I still think Jon may be considered the snake in the grass as they are completely unaware of how venomous Jon really is.

Obviously we will have more insight to this and badger you set up a good spec to ponder on but in all honesty, I can't give Lillian that much credit Literally Lillian's vote for Burton or a turnabout on Burton would not have to be done for Burton to go. Jon can talk the same spiel to T/D that they did about Rupert but about Burton this time. That is three votes there. Christa and Sandra are in dangerous territory and IMO would love to boot Jon or Burton before anyone else and if Lillian and Burton vote together unknowningly, Burton can still go.

26. "RE: Title Changed to "Would You Be My Brutus Today?""
Awwwwwww, the title changes, yet it stays the same...Brutus was a backstabber in the literal sense dating back to Julius Caeser days in Rome.

Et tu, Brute? translates as "And you, too, Brutus?" For centuries that Latin phrase has been a reproach for an act of treachery or a betrayal by a friend or ally. Quite commonly, the allusion is used with the name of the betrayer replacing that of Brutus.

Fans of military history (and folks who know their Latin) may recall that Brutus carried a pretty heavy burden, linguistically and otherwise. Brutus literally means "heavy" in Latin. Not only did Brutus betray a man who had granted clemency to his one-time enemy (and son of his mistress), but his conspiracy to overthrow the man he considered a dictator led to his own death -- by suicide -- two years later.

So the real question is, who is betrayed, and who is doing the betraying? Methinks it is Johnny Fairplay betraying Burton, this way the puppetmaster doesn't have to worry about Mr Roberts strength, and he can take on the women by himself

"A snake by any other name is still a snake"

And Jon makes Survivor history. Have we ever had a one guy/4 women final 5 before? It's his dream!

Gee, I don't know HE, after watching the way Lill planted that big ole fat kiss at RC on Burton, and also seeing her flaunt "I am the Scout Master" (or did she mean mistress?) while baring her thigh, I think Johnny Fairplay might be able to get into Lill's baggy drawers, lmao.....yuck! Anyway, John did say he should date women like Lill, too funny!

Not that it matters, but Caesar never actually uttered those words, that was something that Shakespeare made up for his Julius Caesar play. Just my 2 cents.

But I would definitely take that the "Brutus" in this will either be Lil or Jon (or maybe both).

don't mean to state the obvious here, but perhaps in order to deduce our "brutus," we need to consider who might be "caesar"?

burton would certainly nominate himself for the god-like role of emporer. and let's not forget jon.

also, brutus's knife was a real shocker to caesar. the other 40 some odd stabs, i guess, were no big surprise. so brutus needs to be "a friend" who turns around and stabs someone in the back.

"friends" might be: christa and sandra, burton and lil, burton and jon, t and d

If the title, "Would You Be My Brutus Today?", is referring to "Et tu, Brute" wouldn't MB just use that?

I think it means Would you be *MY* Brutus Today? As in "You betrayed your ally last week, would you do it to me this week?"

Sounds like Burton may have gotten it in episode 10 and now someone's having trouble trusting Jon(?).

Not necessarily Klick, I don't think MB would want to come right out and say "Et tu Brute" in the title. In the last episode we saw Burton tell John that he was putting all of his trust in him, and he and John shook hands on therir deal.

Sounds like Burton may have gotten it in episode 10 and now someone's having trouble trusting Jon(?).

Also of the remaining players, who in their right mind at this point would totally trust John anyway? (with or without him getting Burton booted if that were to happen in Ep10) Sandra, no, Christa, no, Darrah, I don't think so, Tijuana, no, Lill...she would be the only other one that might possibly trust him.

I think they refer to Lill helping vote of Burton. Not knowing much about Brutus, I did a search and found this summary on brutus at: http://www.lausd.k12.ca.us/lausd/resources/shakespeare/caesarwebguide.html

"Brutus

Sincere: Brutus truly believes that his role in the assassination is for the good of Rome ( Act 2, Sc. 1, lines 10-34); (Act 3, Sc. 1, lines 178-186).

Honest: He refuses to take bribes (Act 4, Sc. 3, lines 72-89).

Naive: He believes in the essential goodness of those around him (Act 3, Sc. 1, lines 178-190); (Act 5, Sc. 5, lines 38-42).

Philosophical: His philosophies guide his actions and decisions. Finally, his decisions--refusing to agree to the death of Marc Antony (Act 2, scene 1, lines 161-197), allowing Marc Antony to speak at Caesar's funeral and to speak last (Act 3, Sc. 1, lines 254-261), and deciding to risk all in one battle at Philippi (Act 4, Sc. 3, lines 228-237)--prove disastrous to the conspirators' cause."

Sound more like Lil than evil Jon (who is far from naive). Also it fits with Lil being easily pursuaded and her current loyalty to king Burton.

33. "RE: Episode 11 Title"
I agree that this is more plausible since Lill is the "scoutmaster" and has said time and again that lying is hard for her. It seems strange that after being spoon-fed for a couple hours each at two reward meals by both Burton and John that she would be swayed from her present direction however. If someone does convince her to oust Burton, they would have to give her good reasons to give up her F3 status (if Lill believes John and Burton about that).

The title could also just be loosely based on the fact that John has already turned on Burton once and was his ouster on day 12, so "would you be my Brutus today" may be John turning on Burton once again. Or maybe it means the reverse and this time it's Burton's turn to betray John? The original title "snake in the grass" also leans more toward John then Lill, as he has been referred to as a snake all season.

One thing is that MB's titles usually can have double meaning, or no real meaning at all. "Shocking Simply Shocking" gave us an electric sting ray AND a boot of an electrician that episode.

I think the title refers to Lill because she has been the deciding vote (or close to it) for every boot so far....Andrew, Rhino, and Rupert. She'll probably be a deciding vote for whoever leaves in Ep. 10 (Burton or Christa). Because of that, "they" ask Lill to be their Brutus again... voting out the next player.

That is a good point!
I do think the "naive" snake in the grass is Lill. SHe has been slithering around under the radar to betray a lot of people with her outkast alliance with Burton.

However, I don't think that Burton goes Ep. 10. I think it will be Christa so as not to shake up the Burton/Jon/Lill trio right away. But then, in Ep. 11, Burton is betrayed by the snake he knows (Jon) and the snake he didn't realize (Lill).

I think this title does have one meaning of Burton getting stabbed in the back. For a reason, we were shown the Burton/Jon chat with Burton telling Jon that he was counting on him and he better not go against him. Now, I also like the other suggestions about Lil being the one doing the stabbing. However, with this title, I think we have a Christa boot this week. It would not be such a big stab in the back if it is an alliance that comes together in this week's episode.

Also, snewser has Christa and Burton with thumbs down. I say Christa this week and Burton next!

I don't think I saw this suggested above, at least not fully... (geg6 in post 9 perhaps).

Anyway, since there is talk of Burton going this week, which could only happen if S/C join up with D/T, would it be possible that D/T demand that Sandra, in exchange for Burton, abandon Christa and stab her in the back the following episode?

This would make Christa the Caesar and Sandra the Brutus. And, it would be totally unexpected by Christa.

Aethelstan, you are a genius!!! That is pretty much how I see it. Maybe not the same exact mechanics, but it would work out the same. I think that Burton is going either this week or next with Christa as the other person (pick a week, any week). I still think that Jon betrays Burton somehow and I like my likening of Lil to Eve and Burton to Adam with Jon as the evil serpent in the Garden of Eden. Cut me a break if you think this is ridiculous. I think its a great analogy.

But I also think that Sandra would have no problem giving up Christa to get further in the game. I'll never forget her saying she didn't care who went as long as it wasn't her. I don't think that a hidden alliance with Jon is out of the question with her. Too much drama between the two of them and the only time she votes for Jon is when it won't matter to him and serves her perfectly? If it walks like a duck.....

I have been saying this since episode 3 when they argued about who was the worst swimmer. It came out that they were the last two out of the water and they had a few minutes alone on the beach. I think it was then that they hatched their plan to polarize the tribe by being openly hostile towards each other. They could then influence who got voted off as long as it wasn't the other. The plan requires no covert communications because they are autonomous.

Sandra was fairly safe because of Rupert, but Jon took some work. Remember when Jon voted for Rupert. We all thought he was a goner, but Sandra started right in on Shawn. Of course, then Trish shot herself in the foot.

What's funny is I think Sandra may turn out to be the least trustworthy of the two and eliminate Jon before he gets a chance at her.

If there truly is a Jon/Sandra super-secret alliance (and after last week I believe there is), then I must say it's completely brilliant. What pushed me over the edge was Sandra's vote for Jon at the last TC. It doesn't make any sense otherwise. She must've wanted Rupert to go, but wasn't sure how Lillian would vote. She couldn't risk a tie, so she threw a vote at Jon. The tirade at TC about how Jon doesn't do anything was her cover.

This week, I expect a full blow-up, but it will be of the "Lady doth protest too much" variety.

I'm not yet convinced there is, Sneezles, but if anything makes up my mind that such an alliance does exist, it will be the fact that Sandra is too street-smart a player to give away so much TRUE information about her game as she gives away practically every time we see Jon and her interact on camera.

In other words, I think her gameplayer's common sense would tell her to hide her feelings more than she does. Thus, I think a lot of her animosity toward Jon is roleplayed rather than earnest outbursts of real feeling. That's just me, though -- a lot of clever people around here don't agree that Sandra is as clever as I'm inferring from her actions.

I agree Loquatrix. Sandra's performance in the last TC (her posturing, her eye-ball-rolling, her comments, her "shocked" expression) was quite reminiscent of Jon's over-the-top TC performances. And performance is the key word here.

Her look at TC, I think was genuine and she was SHOCKED!

i guess i have a hard time with her being shocked about rupert. i mean, did christa, sandra, and rupert really think they were "above the law"?!? i thought christa and sandra had already discussed the possibility of rupert going before making an overture to the morgan women. (i could be mis-remembering things.)

and additionally, sandra's vote for jon is quite puzzling here. if indeed, things went as rupert had planned, and christa, rupert, and lil had voted for darrah, then burton, jon, darrah, and t STILL could've outnumbered them --whether they were voting for rupert, or for christa. it seems (to me at least) that the vote was a freebie for the outcast-morgan-fairplay coalition.

now i'm not saying sandra is in cahoots with jon (YUCK!! only a scoutmaster would be able to put up with such an infantine personality), but it does appear that sandra is in cahoots with SOMEONE.

. . .maybe D and T? maybe sandra has already teamed up with them? and maybe then her shocked face wasn't so much "shock" as a performance for christa.

Or Sandra could sabatoge the food and blame Christa. I still haven't figured Sandra out. Sometimes I think her and Jon are putting on an act and they are only pretending to hate each other because they have an alliance. The rest of the time I just think she is loud & c*cky and can't keep her opinions to herself. She is always very blunt at TC and comes off as confident that she is not going anywhere. They could sucker Burton in just like they did Rupert, don't you think? Then they take out Christa next week? I find this a most interesting thread! So many posters with so many good points that I lost track of who to adress!

Badger points out that we should identify who is Caesar.
Szuu aludes to assistance in a boot
DoodleButg nailed it.

"Would you be my Brutus today" is much different that "Who is Brutus". I think someone asks someone else to backstab someone else. So who would ask who to backstab who? (Or should there be whoms in that sentence?)

Vols pointed out that Burton wont go this week because he is a perfect candidate for a Caesar. I cant think of anyone else appearing to be a Caesar more closely than him in the next 2 eps.

I don't think Jon and Sandra have a secret alliance. I see them both playing the game and possibly respecting eachother. But I could see Jon asking Sandra for a Chica strike against Burton.

I can also see Jon approaching Lil to boot Burton, since they have such an intimate relationship (GAH! Too much infomation on the RC last week) Jon would recognize that he would have a good chance in a F2 against Lil the Outcast.

With the L/T/D/B/J allicance having momentum, I can see Christa and Sandra as targets this week. It wont matter if one of them wins the IC, the other will go. I think Sandra wins IC, so Christa is going. Burton is gunning for Christa big time.

I guess this all depends on the Chica alliance formulating this week instead of next. If they formulate this week, Burton is gone this week. If the Chicas formulate next week, Burton is gone next week.

57. "RE: Episode 11 Title"
LAST EDITED ON 11-26-03 AT 07:49 AM (EST)

So many great thoughts here so I will just add mine though most has been said but since the title had changed, my opinion way up at the top did also.

I know the gist of Julius Caesar but my literature I was required to read in high school is not my choice now My general sense of this story was that an entire group "ganged" up on Casear, including his friend Brutus. So my thoughts (since Burton is my selection this week) are more inclined towards the people that I consider having more of a "friendship" and those I feel would follow through (I really am having trouble seeing Lillian betray Burton but this game is funny like that lol) and the person "betrayed" is the one asking the question "Would you be my Brutus today?"

The title, at first, seemed to have the person DOING the betraying asking someone to be their Brutus aka Jon asking Lillian to betray Burton or Jon, Sandra, Christa, etc..

The more I look at it (forgive me if someone said this) I really think that the person who is BEING BETRAYED is asking the BETRAYER (also their friend) "Would YOU be my Brutus today? IOW, questioning the betrayer, who was their friend, Would you be the one who is my Brutus today?

I definitely agree and think that this could be Christa and Sandra to a degree. Up until now, there has been no indication to Christa/Sandra or us that they are not solidly aligned. For that matter, the prior title "Snake In the Grass" while I originally did believe it was Jon, I now question this as well and am arguing myself. Sandra, if the title should belong to her, would in this particular context, be a snake in the grass, someone who is not perceived to be a snake but is whereas Jon is completely out there in the open about being one. Now as of now, I do have a hard time believing she would betray Sandra BUT I go back to things she has said and how "as long as the vote isn't her......." "majority voter" At this point in the game is it possible she would be Christa's Brutus. My faith in loyalty aside, I could never begin to know what they have to do and decide in a game for a million dollars and I think Sandra has her eye on the finish line along with everyone else.

Alternatively, could this also refer to Darrah? She and Tijuana are counterparts; we certainly have no reason to believe they wouldn't stick together either. Would she be the proverbial snake in the grass to save herself and Tijuana would therefore have to ask the question "Would you be my Brutus today?"

And now excuse me, as carpal tunnel syndrome just developed

Another spin, involving the same people, would be to put the emphasis on "today" instead of "you". As in, I have taken out Rupert and maybe Burton, now I am gunning for someone else. Would you care to help me do it?

Nice analysis VS. I agree with you that Sandra is by far the most likely candidate for Brutus, assuming Burton goes this week. I posted about this here, but it belongs more in this thread. http://community.realitytvworld.com/boards/DCForumID2/4476.shtml#10

With Burton gone there are only two decent alliances left - D/T and C/S. We haven't seen any bonding in the D/T alliance, they're merely buddies because of their Morgan heritage. And that leaves us with C/S. As you pointed out, Sandra has always been willing to vote with the majority, which is what Brutus wound up doing (with his sword).

Aaaand, I think Christa is being portrayed as the 'smart' survivor this year (book smart, not game smart). If predictions are correct, this will be further emphasized by her IC victory in Scrabble today. And only a 'smart' person would use a line from Julius Caesar. For what it's worth, I don't think she uses this line, or asks a question like it, but the title is credited to her.

I was thinking this also BbB...

However, if TJ is a 'surprise boot' this week....I can see Burton being the Caesar, Lil being his Brutus and Jon being Cassius in this 'play'. B/c Cassius is the one that talks Brutus into killing Caesar. Brutus kills Caesar for the good of the tribe, um..I mean state b/c he feels Caesar is getting too powerful. Cassius kills Caesar just for pure malice, b/c Cassius wants the power. However, Brutus feels extreme guilt at this action later and commits suicide (could be our wishy washy one later).

Not much time to read the boards today, so forgive me if this has been posted elsewhere already.

Someone at Sucks who works at a radio station has already received the promo for next week's show (Episode 11). Please see the thread:

http://pub207.ezboard.com/fsurvivorsucksfrm2.showMessageRange?topicID=16813.topic&start=21&stop=40

It appears to contain Christa's, Sandra's and Jon's voices, which would indicate that none of them gets the boot this week.

Just thought I'd slap it up here in case someone else hasn't already.

Episode 11 Update:

December 1, 2003

OLD ALLIANCES CRUMBLE AS NEW ONES ARE FORMED,

ON "SURVIVOR: PEARL ISLANDS," THURSDAY, DEC. 4

“Would You Be My Brutus Today?" -- Faltering alliances leave everyone vulnerable at tribal council, on SURVIVOR: PEARL ISLANDS, Thursday, Dec. 4 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

As the castaways scramble to keep themselves from being voted off, redrawn alliances push one castaway to ask another, “If I were Caesar, would you be my Brutus today?” A tearful castaway pleads forgiveness from a fellow tribe member. Meantime, the reward challenge offers up a luxurious spa day with food, massages, showers and privacy…only to be spoiled by one castaway.

And, another tribe member is voted out of their tribe.

You think Sandra fesses up to the fish? or does S or C go to D and say sorry for booting T....if so, D could go with S & D to boot out Burton.

Note that it says "fellow tribe member", suggesting to me that it isn't an alliance partner. I think the "tearful" castaway may be Jon apologizing to Darrah for voting out Tijuana ("I swear on Grandma's grave I'm sorry"), in order to get her to vote against Christa (probably) or Sandra.

I can't picture anyone there actually saying that "Caesar" line, LOL. Again it sounds most like Jon being manipulative. But to whom is he saying it?

About the Caeser line, the only two people I can imagine asking this are Burton and Lill. The others just seem too stupid/under-educated to use this reference in an exchange. Lill's had plenty of melodramatic moments and I really can't imagine Burton coming up with something so insecure.

My vote is that Lill utters the Caeser line to Burton. The funny part being that Lill is so wildly unlike an emperor. It's more likely that during the reward feast Lill says, "If you were having a Caesar salad, would you add Baco-bits today?" CBS just took some liberties with the quote.

Tearful castaway - Lill and Christa are the only two to fit this bill. I'm guessing Christa's neck is on the line and, while maintaining her innocence, asks Jon and Burton to forgive the fish dumping. There's no way Sandra's going to fess up now.

Faltering alliances? Yeah, they're all falling apart. I think B/J/L stick together this week, but cracks appear in the foundation and it all falls apart next week.

Has anyone else noticed that CBS has an annoying habit of omitting one of the promised scenes each week? Which one will they skip this week?

CBS just took some liberties with the quote.

I was thinking the same thing -- the line sounds laughably melodramatic. I especially can't picture anyone saying "If I were Caesar..." (Well, maybe Rupert.)

I wonder if CBS just glued that phrase on the front to refresh the memories of the unkultured masses as to who Brutus is.

Long time lurker, first post.

I too have noticed that some clips promoting the show do not appear in it.

I really wanted to see the promised clip of Burton talking to Jon (off camera) saying "you lied..." Maybe it was about his Grandma, maybe not. I bet CBS decided not to show it because we would know that he would be busted for his lie for sure, and would then guess he would be the next to go? Don't know.

But I do find it VERY annoying that CBS doesn't show what they promote!

UPDATE: Looks like I got the quote wrong based on another thread. I still think they didn't show it for a reason.

I may have missed it, but is there evidence that a cast member says this, rather than a CBS grunt choosing the episode's name?

It just seems like a spazzy thing for someone to say. Heck, I'm a disgusting Shakespeare bore and intellectual snob type, and I wouldn't ask anyone a question via literary reference unless we were roleplaying being pompous arses. ::grin:: If someone does actually say this, they need to be taken out back and beaten with a shovel for trying so hard to show they're smart.

Sorry, getting off on a rant there. So do we know that one of the cast says this? If someone does say it, it's going to be Jon -- just look at how much he enjoys his sidelong references.

If someone does say it, it's going to be Jon -- just look at how much he enjoys his sidelong references.

IMO Jon's too stupid to even know who Cesaer is let alone his relationship to Brutus. /end anti-Jon rant

As far as someone actually saying the words, it's very doubtful that this happens. Most of the time the CBS flunkys look at the overall feel of an episode and take the titles from there. Sometimes it's a brainier flunky than usual so I think this is where the title came from for this week.

Personally I think that this refers to either Lil and Burton or Sandra and Christa.

The Lil / Burton scenario:

I see Lil thinking that Burton=Brutus. Lil sees herself in a position of power right now. The last few votes she hasn't been on the chopping block. She's in an alliance with which she's confident. BUT when she's talking to Burton and he seems to be vacillating and unwilling to completely confirm their alliance, she'll see him as Brutus, someone who will eventually stab her in the back to bring himself farther up the ladder. She's been stabbed in the back before (and booted to boot), so she'll see betrayal quicker than some.

The Sandra / Christa Scenario:
I see Sandra being the one to think Christa=Brutus. Sandra is working her angles hard. Sandra let others think that Christa dumped the fish. She's telling Darrah (and T before the boot) that she'll give her Christa on a platter if she (Darrah) will then make sure that Burton goes next. Sandra sees herself in a position of power (in a weedeling kind of way) with the "Chicas". Christa knows she didn't dump the fish. She most likely has a suspicion that Sandra did it, so is going to be more likely to think that Sandra will continue to try to ingratiate herself with the power alliance of Jon/Burton/Lil/Darrah. But Sandra is also very hot-headed. She's feeling the pressure of the game and I can see her "transferring" her own betrayal of Christa and starting to see Christa betraying her as opposed to the other way around. I think Sandra (with her love of sneaking around listening to tete a tetes) will hear snippets of conversations between Christa and oh let's say Burton, and confront Christa with it thinking Christa is manuvering to oust Sandra.

This one is a little more far fetched, but I do think it's a possibility.

These are just a few random thoughts. All of which will lead me (at some point today) to my decision regarding who gets the heave ho on tomorrow.

This is a song from Lamya Judas Kiss (Brutus Diss)

All of your moonlight whispers
Counterfeit
Counterfeit love

Oh hello Brutus - said you were my friend
But in the end you were
Takin' the piss
Mistakenly I mistook this
For something real

You dress me up in your lies
What a beautiful fabrication it was
And it is so sad to say
I wear it well
I change my face when i'm told
From nemesis to genesis of
A good girl
Sugar, sugar, honey, honey
If you're good
You get to be
Girl with the most
The girl with the most candy

CHORUS
But it's only
Moonlight whispers
Counterfeit
Counterfeit love
Then you, you give me
You give me that Judas Kiss oh
Could you hurt me more than this oh
Won't you tell it like it is, oh

Sounds like "Survivor" to me

Liked this thread. The question of whether this specific phrase is used peaked my interest.

I can see Lil asking Burton later after she is not sure about her standing "would you stab me in the back?"

I could see D asking Sandra if D should trust her after last ep., "why should I vote for you? Would you just stab me in the back again?"

The way I see it is that there is a strong alliance with J/B/L and another with S/C and D is hanging out there. So I can see Sandra working on D and saying that if J promises to vote with S/C/D, then D may agree. That would mean that Sandra would have to go to Jonny and ask him if he would be HER brutus and stab Burton in the back. If Sandra wins IC, this may motivate D to agree. I just don't know yet who I think wins IC.

Jon and Lillian would get to Darrah first though, if the three of them are the reward winners. It's the perfect opportunity for J and L to recruit Darrah into voting against Christa or Sandra next. Throw in Burton and it's 4 against 2.

So I don't see why Darrah would entertain an offer from S and C since it only offers a tie (Lillian may privately wonder about Burton but she won't backstab him yet).

In any case I don't see S and C making Darrah an offer this week. Before the last TC Jon promised S and C final 4 slots with him and Burton. The vote-off of Tijuana went as planned, so S and C probably think this is still the plan. Jon just has to convince them as much ("the great lie continues to affect the decisions of the castaways...").

As for who wins IC, I must admit I'm still waffling between Burton, Darrah and Sandra.

You don't think so BR? I based my vote of Burton going tonight on the idea that Lil would backstab him right now. The way I see it, Lil is feeling comfortable enough at this point to listen to Jon more than she'll listen to Burton. I think she's annoyed by Sandra and Christa, sees Darrah as someone who she can't quite peg as far as her alliances, Jon as someone she'll trust to tell her the truth and Burton as the one who even though pledged to never lie, as vacillating on his word and pact with her. I don't think Lil would give 3 thoughts to giving Burton a smack down vote.

What are your thoughts on it BR, you know I want to be just like you (except for that whole being male thing )!

You said it yourself, Misto:

Lil is feeling comfortable enough at this point to listen to Jon more than she'll listen to Burton.

If she has any doubts about Burton, the person she's most likely to talk to is Jon, since she's close to him and L/B/J are supposedly Final 3. Jon wants Burton around and will convince her that he should stay.

I don't see Lill just suddenly going to Sandra and Christa with a plan to boot Burton -- she has no current connection to them, as you also pointed out. And Darrah, who would also be needed, is an enigma.

I think Jon is still pulling the strings this week, and next week's mutiny is against Jon's puppetmastery, as Badger and other smart spoilers here have opined. If Burton is the intended victim of the "mutiny" I think Lill will be quite prepared to go along with it at that point.

is glad that Misto enjoys being a girl and is smitten with Misto's intellect and wit.

I'm not sure how spoilerish this is, but this is a parody of a song that goes through my head every time I read "Will you be my Brutus?"

It's a beautiful day in this brutushood,

It's a brutusly day in this beauty wood,

I've always wanted to live in a brutushood with you.

So, let's make the most of this beautiful day.
Since we're together we might as well say:
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?
Won't you be my brutus?
Won't you please,
Won't you please?
Please won't you be my brutus?

Ok, back to your regularly scheduled program...

Sandra goes to Lill and Darrah and tells them everything about the previous TC - that she and Christa voted for Tijuana instead of Burton because Jon promised to ditch Lil and take S/C to the final 4. She points out that she and Christa have been told to vote for Lil at TC, per the agreement.

She then offers this: she and Christa will vote for Burton. Darrah and Lil can vote for Christa. If the boys are true to their word to D/L, then Christa will be gone 4-2. But if the boys are true to their word to S/C, then this would force a 2-2-2 tie. The first tiebreaker would be a revote between the three people who didn't get votes, and Sandra and Darrah could then vote out Burton.

And what does Sandra get out of the deal? A final 3 agreement with Darrah and Lil. No matter which outcome, Sandra could offer D/L a final 3 pact and promise to vote for whichever guy they want, targeting the other at the next TC (barring immunity).

Darrah would be open to such a deal, since she is gone the moment she loses immunity. And after Burton's hesitation about F2, Lil could be open to it as well. Worst case scenario for Lil, she sets herself up as the swing vote at the next TC, going whichever way she'd rather go.

The real situation is probably simpler - something like Sandra going to Darrah and Lil and offering a F3 pact if they vote for Christa instead of her. But I just wanted to include the convoluted one in case it really happened so I could look like a spoiling diva.

We really do have guidelines here. Believe it or not, the Guidelines make things more fun. Really.

Wow, I had to re-read a couple of sections before I got it all figured out. I'm guessing our intrepid Survivors would have an even harder time working out the angles.

The biggest problem I see with this speculation is that I just don't think Lill is bright enough to work through it in her head and her stupid loyalty to Burton will win out.

So let's say B/J stick to their word to D/L and Christa is gone this week. Where does that leave Sandra? Up S creek, that's where. I can't see Sandra cutting a deal that will potentially lose Christa against Sandra's will. Sandra sees the writing on the wall and is ready to cooperate to drop Christa and ensure her own future in the game.

I think it's far more likely that Sandra is working a separate deal with Jon and one other person to get to f3. I think Jon and Sandra are capable of recognizing that they're the two wiliest competitors and by working together they can really decimate everyone else. The only problem is that with the fewer number of players left in the game, they have fewer strings to pull on and immunity can derail their plans.

I'm sure Lill thinks she's Caesar and I'm even more convinced that we're not actually going to hear this cheesy line on the show.

1st time poster here, longtime fanatic...
Bebo and blow-by-blow, I'm not sure if this relates, but was Sandra's quote "Nobody kills my Christa" already said? I can't recall. My point is, if Jon continues to play the "I swear on grandma" line, which actually sealed the deal last week with Christa and Sandra, could he go ahead and use it on Darrah, thereby sending Christa home, prompting Sandra to say this to perhaps the ENTIRE tribe? Just spec. but boy, is this fun!

I have no sig. pic. Don't know how.

Well you'll certainly get props from me if it plays out this way.

However, I don't see Sandra coming up with such an intricate plot. If anything she's falling down on her game now, first throwing away her vote at the Rupert TC, then dumping the fish which was risky, then flip-flopping on T and D last week.

I think most likely the Brutus reference, as well as the Snake in the Grass reference, is to Jon -- yeah, I know, big surprise -- who will just backstab Sandra and Christa this week after having sworn on his (dead) grandmother that they'd be final 4. Setting the stage for a Mutiny next week.
