Yeesh, you sound like you have some major very personal grudge against Joey. I'm in Reno and tired of all the exposure Joey is getting on the local media, but I don't see him as a fake or the devil as you seem to imply. He knows he's a newbie so he worked at positioning himself to stay in as long as possible. He'll probably lose in the next round, but he was around long enough to impress Sly and surprise the other boxers who completely discounted him. He's not from the ghetto, so what? He seems to love the sport and is smart enough to see where it all takes him. The spokesman announcement was just made in the last few weeks, and I can see why Sly picked him. He's good looking, smart, educated and dedicated. He talks a lot about how he faithfully follows his sister's nutritional plan (she's a personal trainer/dietician) and that has to impress Sly. Did you see the way he flipped out about the doughnuts and ice cream? Did you see Jesse's post fight meal of salami and cream cheese on Ritz crackers?
As far as him not belonging...how much better qualified was Juan who packed his bags and ran as soon as he knew he couldn't go any farther. At least Joey doesn't seem worried about losing face in the next round. Tarick hadn't even been in the ring for years, how was he more qualified? Brent Cooper was so overwhelmed I felt embarrassed for him, how was he that much better than Joey? My impression is that while the idea was to give more exposure to struggling boxers, it didn't work that way. I don't agree with bringing back boxers to round out the numbers. You were beat, you should be out period. The producers obviously didn't think about the health issues and such and should have better prepared for such circumstances. Regardless, I think Peter, Sergio, Ishe and Jesse are the boxers to beat no matter who they bring back or how unqualified some of the other boxers might be in your eyes.
Thanks for letting me vent.
btw...thanks for no longer shouting!
