I didn't say rich..i said relatively affluent...meaning relative to the other fighters...."upper middle class" would be more appropriate. If you want to see Joey's comments on this very point watch the extended scenes on yahoo..he says something like "i don't buy it when people say you have to grow up in the ghetto to be a good fighter." One thing is for sure, Joey is dedicated to training and has a pretty decent chin....I would actually think that to some extent a longer fight would work to his advantage, as he appears in excellent shape. Anyway, only time will tell how well he does. He has an uphill climb no doubt. However, playing up the injury to fight last was probably a smart move, at least in a self-promotional sense. I too found it interesting that Joey didn't seem too affected by the injury any other place other than the ring. Although, faking it in the ring seems pretty risky, unless he was absolutely confident he could win in the 5th round. From looking at Joey's mannerisms in the ring he didn't seem to be too impressed with Lange's punching power, he seemed a lot more confident in there, even pushing Jimmy a few times, giving him cock-eyed glances and in round five basically bowling him over shoving him against the ropes. Who knows, maybe the fighters catch on Joey's "back-door" dealing and realize he's sandbagging, and get pissed off.....It'd be pretty funny if all the boxers realized that Joey was pulling the strings behind the first round matchmaking stuff, leaving himself with the easy fight (brent). Maybe this kind of slickness is what convinced Jesse that Joey may make a good lawyer. You are right though, the more airtime he got and the longer he stayed on, the farther he could stretch his 15 min. of fame. Can't blame him for that, a boxer using his brains...a novel concept.
