3. "RE: Episode 7 title: What the...?" |
Well at least we now can be sure that the "twist" will happen in Ep 7. I suspect that they will promote this episode big time as soon as Ep 6 is over. MB and Jiffy have been planting seeds that this is the "Big One."It has to be something that has never been done on American Survivor before. Is might, however, have been done on a foreign version. The original swap from S3 was not the first ever Suvivor swap, as I understand it. A version of it had been done in a foreign Survivor. I think I heard, although I have nothing to back this up so it might not be true, a resurrection of a voted off player has happened on a foreign Survivor. If anyone has better information on this point, please let us know. If it is true, and given the rumors about Lil returning and a ghost tribe, it seems that this is all likely to happen in E7. If it is something totally different, then MB has fooled us again. Even if we figure it out by the end, he would have had us going for quite a while.

I'm no fan of the idea of resurrecting a booted player, but doing it could forever change how future tribes pick bootees. What I think might happen here is that a supposedly routine merge will happen in E7 as it usually does, but at the same time as the merge the returning player twist will be put into effect, and there will be 2 boots, although how that will work I have no idea. After the returnee is back, I expect that how that person's original tribe treated him or her is going to come back to bite them in the a$$, perhaps resulting in one or more members of that tribe getting the boot themselves. If MB does this twist, look in future Survivors for people to be much more careful about how they treat early bootees, lest the person return later and engineer a revenge booting.

>I think I heard, although I have nothing to back this up so it might not be true, a resurrection of a voted off player has happened on a foreign Survivor.<It has happened on the French Survivor several times.... Usually, when a player gets sick (and a lot of players got sick on the Panama Season) they return the previous contestant to have been voted off... Or worse, a new contestant coming from nowhere replaces them... And that really sucks, there is no way to strategizes because players return all the time, and worse than everything, on last summer season one girl that arrived just before the merge ended up in the final two. Now, some other rules are different too, so I really hope that if there is a "resurrection" it won't happen this way, that would really suck.

Yeah, this past summer I saw a few episodes of French Survivor (Kolo Anta) and it Totally blew.First, whenever someone got sick, instead of letting them suffer, they would take them from the game and bring back the last person voted out. But it wasn't even up to the players. The doctors on hand pretty much told people they were sick, and had to leave. On one tribe, they told a guy that he 'needed his hands' because he was a carpenter, as the kicked him out for a hand injury. He didn't even want to leave. And they let a girl leave for 'psychological illness', cuz she flipped out in the jungle. it was soo lame. French Joe Millionaire, however, is Awesome. Those girls were so shallow, and so bitchy, and they call each other awful names to their faces and there's sex with the cameramen trying to get shots of it through the windows. hmm.. back in the good états-unis, with good tv. no soft-core at night, though. mm

Actually I'm French, but I live in the US and last summer I was so happy that finally I was getting to see the French Survivor...What a disappointment!!!! For the reasons you said, and also because this people can't play... Not wanting to be an armchair sociologist, but I think comparing the two shows (and also the two Joe Millionnaire shows) tells a lot about some differences between Americans and French... Like French people are not as good as backstabbing as Americans are, but on the other hands they're much more straight forward in their relations to people.... Which gives us a great Joe Millionnaire, but a really crappy Survivor... Ok, sorry for the parenthesis and back to the spoiling...

15. "Twist this..." |
1. taking a page from the PH book, one lucky viewer is allowed to go to the island, and they select who is next to leave....2. or maybe one lucky Probousted castaway is allowed to return, and select who they replace... 3. Post merge TC: everyone votes, JP pulls one name out and that person leaves, no more majority rule...(or better yet, that person selects who leaves, so you are no longer voting someone out, you are empowering them...) 4. first 7 voted out are the jury...they get to watch all the episodes (so they know both tribes, etc). Don't like this idea, because then MB and his editing crew are "picking" the winner, but wait - they do anyway, right? 5. The twist is at TC, JP is not there. Instead, it's Phil from Amazing Race. Once the contestants sit down, he announes, "Trish, I'm sorry, you were the last person to arrive. You have been eliminated from the game." just a few ideas, run them up the flagpole, and see if anyone salutes them....like a good friend of mine always says, "Cream rises to the top, but occasionally a terd floats too..." -cb

For charming rogue Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), the waters of the Caribbean present a vast adventure playground. But Jack's idyllic life capsizes when his nemesis, the wily Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush), steals his ship, the Black Pearl, and later attacks the town of Port Royal, kidnapping the Governor's (Jonathan Pryce) daughter, Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley). Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) joins forces with Jack to commandeer the fastest British ship, the HMS Interceptor, in an attempt to rescue her and reclaim the Black Pearl. The doe and their motley crew are pursued by Elizabeth's betrothed, the debonair Commodore Norrington (Jack Davenport), aboard the HMS Dauntless. Unbeknownst to Will, there is a curse that has doomed Barbossa and his crew to live forever as the undead, where on each moonlit night they transform into living skeletons. The curse can be broken only if a once-plundered treasure is restored. I thought the Pearl Islands are on the Pacific side of Panama, not the Caribbean? In any case, I guess the "curse" is something along these lines.

I have a hard time trying to figure out how they are going to bring people back in the game...due to Jiffy P. and Ryan S. talking about their fire being snuffed out. I think most everyone caught this as being some foreshadowing of what we are going to see with the twist.I don't think that anyone re-enters the game. I think we may have a "ghost tribe" that will compete in the challenges. If the ghost tribe wins reward then the Drake and Morgan tribes are left out of the reward and the ghost tribe gets it. If the ghost tribe wins immunity then maybe they get to pick who to eliminate with both tribes going to the tribal council. However, this would only work until there is a merge and then we have TC as usual. My thoughts.... GO VOLS!

47. "speculation on "the curse"" |
i'm not sure that the episode 7 "curse" will be drawn from pirates of the caribbean, which is after all a disney (ABC, not CBS) production. certainly this seems to be the episode where we have folks rising from the dead, or the dead that refuse to die. . . but is that THE curse?other possible curses for tribe members to overcome: * the cursing that will come from fans everywhere when MB brings a player back from LL * the curse that survivor shows in odd numbered years suck * JP's "m-----f----r" * the curse of the Bambino. oh wait. wrong game * the curse of the mummy. oh wait. wrong location * one of the women has really bad PMS (yeah, THAT curse) * "The Pirate's Curse" -- someone gets too greedy, which leads to their demise (this seems possible) * the weather (the way MB overhypes things, this seems most likely) -badger

25. "RE: Episode 7 title: What the...?" |
Pearl Islands Episode 7 Title: "What the...?" Twist catches the tribe members off guard; castaways contend with the curse of the Pearl Islands; a castaway makes a monumental decision. If people rising from the dead is the curse, then the resurrection of the ghost tribe could fit. The other possibility would be a JP story hour, telling the story of the curse, followed by a trivia/scavenger hunt type race (ala the famous Rudy 'I dunno' episode -- my all-time favorite!!). makes sense to me if the monumental decision is to take yourself out of the game and allow somebody else to return. Maybe they offer cash, or a car or maybe a separate challenge (you win, you get $100,000, you lose, Lill replaces you). I just hope the deal isn't like Heidi and Jenna... pause for thought; "Rupert and Lillian, if you get naked, we'll give you chocolate and peanut butter"... <shudder>

It is probably not a fluke at all. It is very likely that the intention is to make it a Survivor to remember because it is the 100th episode.

LAST EDITED ON 10-23-03 AT 04:55 PM (EST)The "game as usual" would be a merged tribe at EP7, with individual IC. If we can still believe the "Accidental Tourist", the older woman (Trish) who gets back into the game, wins a second challenge right after the one that gets her back into the game... That would mean that Trish wins the first Individual IC and per SNN's earlier "chirp"... "the tribe has no problems voting Rupie out". As many of us have been predicting, Rupert is the logical first post merge boot... So, it looks as though we will see the Ghost Tribe's arrival and associated challenges next week, ending in a "TO BE CONTINUED", followed by the first Individual IC and last pre-jury boot, the following week. Looks like MB wants to drag out the show and postpone Rupie's demise as long as possible...plus it will take two episodes to cover everything that has to happen in EP7. Should be great fun spoiling the next two weeks! Krautboy

KB, just for the record, Griffe says she is not sure about the returning woman winning two challenges in a row, since the challenge info may have been misinformed -- the "underwater challenge" could have been the EP 2 treasure chest RC (which we sort of figured out anyway). But it seems logical that a returning player would try to win an individual IC right away to prevent getting rebooted. I'm curious what is going to happen at the end of Ep 7, since someone else needs to get taken out of the game. If the tribes merge in tandem with one player returning in Ep 7, the merged tribe is starting with 11 members. That would prevent a tie at the first TC -- which would very likely happen with a 5 Drake-5 Morgan merge. The returning player becomes the swing vote. So will there be a TC at the end of Ep 7 with 11 people voting, and then a second one at the end of Ep 8 with 10? That is what I'm wondering.
