Comedy of Errors

Wow, that was a trainwreck of an episode. Of the five teams that performed the Coconut Detour, three of them had to go back to repeat it. We also had racers forget the cardinal rule of airports on The Amazing Race: Always Get a Seat in the Front of the Plane. It was kind of weird how that one thing affected the rankings so much.

And, in the most shocking result yet, Jet & Cord finished last this week, but were not eliminated.

Yikes.

This was a really, really rough week for scores in general. Jet & Cord were extremely popular picks, which caused a lot of wagers to be lost. To make matters worse, Louie & Michael scored negative as well. The Lucky 7 bonus game did bail a few players out, though. And there were a good number of sneaky Dan/Jordan and Steve/Allie bets too.

The answer to the (+1) Question was "Yes" this week, as Jet & Cord said, "oh my gravy" right before a commercial break.

Overall, we had an astounding 9 players bust out of the game, which is probably a single-week record for the Limit Game. The players were Weez, Starshine, FFantasyFX, taffnic, sarah1234, dragonflies, bbenzenberg, IanQuentin, and HauntedOne. Thanks for playing, all of you. A lot of movers and shakers this week. The Greatest Gainer Award goes to tribephyl for halving the rank from #40 to #20 with a risky All-In Lucky 7 bet. Another big mover was kidflash212, who moved 18 ranks, all the way up to #6. Outstanding.

The Perfect Bet Award goes to both the risky wagerer tribephyl on the Lucky 7 wager. Very cool.

It's pretty clear that Brent/Caite and Carol/Brandy aren't the best of friends. Will either team say that they want the other team to finish last or be eliminated?

For the (+1) question, general put-downs don't count. We're looking for either team to say that they want the other team out of the race, eliminated, finishing last, or any other way to say they don't want them on the show anymore.

Bonus Game - Truth Chains

We tried this game last year and it was a little too oblique to be fun, so we're going to tweak the rules this time.

In this game, players can wager on how well they can tell which team will beat which. You will do this by making two chain statements, each involving three of the six teams. These chains will be guesses at their general ranking order at the end of the next episode. You're not looking for exact ranks, you're looking at who's going to beat who. In a sense, you'll basically say that "TeamA will beat TeamB, who will in turn beat TeamC". And you'd make a similar statement for the other three teams you haven't used yet.

You can also use math notation if you want to show your statements simpler. For example, saying that...

Steve/Allie > Carol/Brandy > Jet/Cord
Dan/Jordan > Brent/Caite > Louie/Michael

Would be the same as saying...

"Steve/Allie beats Carol/Brandy, and Carol/Brandy beats Jet/Cord"
"Dan/Jordan beats Brent/Caite, and Brent/Caite beats Louie/Michael"

You have to use all 6 teams to make a valid guess. And you have to make two separate chains containing three teams each. The chains are completely unrelated, too. In our example, it doesn't matter if Steve/Allie beats Dan/Jordan or vice-versa. You'd only saying how Steve/Allie stacks up against Carol/Brandy & Jet/Cord (and Dan/Jordan with B/C and L/M).

If both statements are completely true at the end of the next leg, then you win your wager. If even one part of the chain is false, then you'd lose the bet. It's all or nothing. Half-truths don't count.
