Secret Santa came thru. When I got back from a short trip, there it was, sitting on my doorstep. Unmolested by neighborhood dogs, and unnoticed by neighborhood street gangs and outlaw bikers. It probably arrived on Christmas eve, but being out of town ruined the careful timing SS went to great lengths to achieve. I should have been there.
So, opening the package, I was amazed to find what I was secretly hoping for all along, an box of Styrofoam peanuts. They really are so much fun to play with, static electricity makes them impossible to throwaway, they are more fun that a Lab pup that retrieves everything in the house.
However, my joy was short lived as I dove thru the box. Hidden inside was a wrapped package that gurgled.
Dismissing thoughts of Molotov cocktails, and remembering other delights that go gurgle in the night, I tore thru the wrapping and found a 12 year old bottle of GlenAllachie Single Malt Scotch. Which has even Styrofoam peanuts beat all to heck. Speyside Scotch distilleries are world famous and a favorite of mine, and although this is a new brand, I am all a tingle thinking about it.
Haven't broken the seal yet, this is special stuff, the kind you invite people with impeccable taste, refinement, and manners to sip quietly with over quiet conversation and Styrofoam peanut pong as one becomes slip sloppy drunk.
Thank you SS, this is an especially appreciated gift.
