LAST EDITED ON 08-19-00 AT 05:25 PM (EST)You are over-estimating us rednecks! Rummage sales are *the* thing to do in Wisconsin in the summer. I have seen many MANY upscale people hold rummage sales (granted, I don't know if they are millionaires or not.) I'm also really kicking myself in the butt. I just discovered I live about 40 minutes away from Sue, I could have gone to that rummage sale! Maybe I should drive down to Eagle to see what I can see. Also, at this point even if Sue is voted off next, you would think she would have enough money where she wouldn't *have* to have a rummage sale. Like I said... it's tradition in some parts here. Edited to assure everyone I am not some redneck stalker! I just think it would be interesting to go down to Eagle when the show is all finished just to see if the town is going crazy selling Susan/Survivor merchandise or anything.

Rummage sale? What is a "rummage sale?" Is that the same thing as a barn sale, where people put their unwanted possessions up for sale?

Rummage Sale, Garage Sale, Moving Sale, I just won a million bucks so I'm getting rid of all of my junk sale... They are all basically the same thing!

I agree with Laney that the rummage sale doesn't tell us anything in particular. This is Susan we're talking about, after all. I could see Susan holding a rummage sale even after finding our that she was the long-lost heir to a BILLION dollars, let alone a million.BUT I think there is a VERY telling clue in this story that Susan does not win the $1 miilion. Look at this: "The couple purchased a modestly priced home, $149,000, in Eagle in June." Yeah, even in Wisconsin, $149K doesn't get you much of a home these days. Let's see, if Susan finished second, her take-home amount after withholding and FICA (assuming she makes $30K a year as a trucker) would only be about $65K. So, she'd have to finance $84K. I don't think her husband works (can't imagine anyone but the government hiring someone so likely to have a heart attack young). Maybe he gets social security disability payments. At any rate, about the MOST she could finance on that income is $80-95K (depending on her other financial history, about which we know nothing). Anyway, second place looks like a very probable finish for Susan: lower, and she'd have to finance too much; higher, and she would have bought a nicer house.
