PLEASE NOTE: The Reality TV World Message Boards are filled with desperate attention-seekers pretending to be one big happy PG/PG13-rated family. Don't be fooled. Trying to get everyone to agree with you is like herding cats, but intolerance for other viewpoints is NOT welcome and respect for other posters IS required at all times. Jump in and play, and you'll soon find out how easy it is to fit in, but save your drama for your mama. All members are encouraged to read the complete guidelines. As entertainment critic Roger Ebert once said, "If you disagree with something I write, tell me so, argue with me, correct me--but don't tell me to shut up. That's not the American way."

19. "Update: Home Sweet Home"
Cooper, a mere week ago, was being rushed to the local vet because he had started to show signs of losing muscle control. He soon became fully paralyzed, losing use of his legs as well as his diaphragm, lungs and heart. He actually visted "the other side" briefly before being given a shot of atropine to kick start his heart as well as a ventilator that was working his lungs for him.
Rushed to an emergency veterinary hospital, we quickly learned that Cooper's paralysation had been the effect of a ruptured disc and a compressed spine.
Then we were faced with the reality of the enormity of his status. They flashed bills upwards of 8000.00, promising surgery, a full recovery and to get him back it needed to be paid in full.
I couldn't say goodbye and I'm very glad that others could see us together again... because we did it!
We raised nearly $5500.00 dollars, which got him the surgery he needed.
Well... The surgery went well. Better than well, GREAT really.
The surgeon had given him a 90% chance of full recovery and mobility and stated that within a few days he'd be able to come home. The final bill was closer to $7500.00. Then through the extra generosity of some last minute lenders, we were able to cover the final bill and get him home.
Soon, Cooper was at home and was convalescing with his pops and sister.
As of now... He has regained use of ALL of his limbs!
He toodling around the house and for the past two days has actually been able to make "walks" with us. They are slow going and are full of moments where he loses his balance a bit. Sometimes falling over, most times regaining his balance and continuing on. He's just THAT determined.
He's eating, he's cuddling, he's still my "little bear" just like I remember him to be. For the last couple of nights I've been sleeping on the living room floor to insure he doesn't do anything crazy like try to jump on furniture (Yes, I can see him thinking about doing that kind of stuff. DangerBear.).
We all owe you folks our eternal thanks. Thanks for helping Cooper through this time with your donations, your good vibes, well wishes and your prayers.
He is still not at full capacity but every day a new milemarker has been passed and every day he regains more strength and ability.
We still owe roughly $2000.00, and I thank the folks who are STILL donating to Cooper's full recovery. Every bit is completely useful and needed. There are still post-surgery visits, physical therapy sessions and some things we need while he gets better.
But the patient is not only on the mend but is getting better every day. And wanting to thank you all in person.
In fact, this Sunday he will be visiting the RUFF Easter Brunch, at TivoliToo! in Laguna Beach. The owners of RUFF were personal donors and Cooper will be dressed in his Easter Tuxedo to make sure his face-licks are delivered by the dapper guy his is. Cooper is also compiling his thank you list and would love to have an address from each of the donors, so he can show you his thanks via snailmail.
In the meantime, I share with you a few visuals of Coop re-learning to walk. WooHoo! Go Cooper-Doo!
