"I don't get some of the exercises!"
Am I the only one that feels confused about some of these "significant" exercises that the HG's have been given. I'm still not sure that I get the whole life boat exercise. Perhaps Iyanla should sit them down and tell them exactly how it should have been done, since she seems to have had a plan and expected them to act according to her plan. And the whole volleyball net yesterday was weird. They were given a time limit, Lisa and Jill were taken away, but they actually did get it done anyway. Apparently, it was not done the way Rhonda had figured out was the best though. And Iyanla kind of went on in the BOR about how Allison had worked all day (and the ladies let her) and didn't rest, all to build a stupid volleyball net. Maybe the LC's need to let the HG's read their scripts. Also, in the past, it was not necessary for all of the ladies to get along in order to progress. Their have always been personality issues in the house, sometimes much worse then what is going on now.

I also find some of the assignments more confusing this season. They completed the volleyball net, even after the life coaches took some of the people away, so that's good right? No, Allison should have rested more. Huh? And then there was the Lifeboat Exercise. They're told to figh for survival, and then criticized for not working as a team. Huh?

I totally agree. I smell something fishy going on this year. I almost think they want more drama in the house for ratings. On one hand they are telling the ladies to speak their minds if someone says or does something to offend them, and then on the other hand they encourage them to just be one big happy family where everyone looks out for each other and helps each other. They can't carry Jill's bags, they couldn't help Lisa prepare dinner, but they got in trouble for not helping each other get in the lifeboat. The LCs are so different this year. I have watched from the beginning and I think that Daytime Emmy has something to do with it.

I'm with all of you! It almost seems as if the LC's wait until the ladies are done with the exercise and then say...nope, you didn't get it. But they never really tell them what they SHOULD have done. It seems to me as if they are following the directions and completing the exercise fearing that if they DON'T complete it they will be in trouble. But now, they get in trouble either way. For example, when Allison carried the baskets all day, as directed, then was told she could have put them down at any time. Then Jill gets the luggage, puts it down, and gets reprimanded for it. Jill said it best when she said you never know what street the LC's are coming down so you better be prepared. It's hard to be prepared when the LC's don't even know what they are looking for. It bothers me when an LC asks one of the ladies a question like....how do you feel when such and such happens...and the lady answers but with a questioning voice..like "I shut down?"...hoping agains hope that is the right answer. If the ladies aren't "getting it", part of the responsibility for that has to lay with the LC's as well cause I'm not getting it either!

IMN2PT: "It bothers me when an LC asks one of the ladies a question like....how do you feel when such and such happens..." It seems to me that the object of such a question is the same as the real object of the exercises - not that you get it right but that you finally realize you don't get it at all. It is just like doing a math problem; until you are given the numbers, you can't solve the problem. Until you see what you are missing, you can't fix it. Boy, I am bad at expressing this but I do have some experience at it. I was challenged over and over with that question until I finally realized I had no idea how I felt and that was my problem, not all the things I could list and complain about. So the questions and the exercises help the HG to see their problem in a different way.

I honestly think the LIfe Coaches are giving mixed signals. I have seen it a number of times this season.

The life coaches get a "C". The show is taking on a survivor kind on atmosphere.

Sorry, I think it must be me that didn't make myself clear...lol. It wasn't the asking of the question that bothered me. It is the manner in which the ladies answer it. They anser it, sounding like a question as if they mean...is that the RIGHT answer. I feel that sometimes the answer is less reality and more of just wanting to answering it the way the LC's want them to.

I agree with all of you on this one. This season is all about the drama... drama ... drama ...drama... it's almost becoming annoying. I wish they just did the lessons and worked hard to fix THEMSELVES and not everyone else in the damn house. TOO MUCH DRAMA... but I guess drama =ratings!

9. "RE: I don't get some of the exercises!"
I'm glad I'm not the only one. This season, it seems that Rhonda and Iyanla are much harder on the women in the house--from the get-go, they were yelling at them. The lifeboat exercise was the one that really got me, though. When they were told only five of the six of them could go on the boat, the women figured out how to get around that: by attaching a separate life ring. Then Iyanla berated them for not following the rules of "survival." So the women fought for their "survival," ending with Allyson in the raft alone. Then Iyanla berated them for being in "survival mode," versus helping each other out. What's a HG to do?

And Jill indicated days ago she was ready to get rid of her baggage, but Iyanla yelled at her for deciding on her own to change the exercise, and said that wasn't the point of the exercise. Today we learned the point was to get rid of the stuff INSIDE the baggage. Oh, well, now THAT's clear.

Sometimes the HGs get applauded for "changing" and "realizing," and sometimes they get cut off at the knees for it. Guess I'm glad I'm not one of them this time!

Where I live, the series is showing on Fox, vs. NBC, and I was wondering whether the network change brought with it this new emphasis on drama and upheaval. It's getting kind of hard to watch, and I don't know whether I'll keep up with it this time.
