Here is the non-HTML part of my post:
Over the past several weeks it has become apparent that either
TV Guide or SEG has narrowed in on my source is effectively
throttling it. While spoiling the Survivor listing, I have also
monitored other listing including those for CSI. Only with
Survivor have I seen place holder listing, last minute changes,
and even quite a few postpublication changes to the listings.
My original purpose in keeping my source secret was to avoid
exactly this sort of distracting activity which only lessens
ones confidence in the value of the listing. In fact, I said
at the outset that if the source turned out incorrect that I
would reveal it. Certainly there is little if any point now
in keeping this secret.
TV Guide posts listing on its server in advance of the
publication date. This is probably in part as a contingency
against power outages or mishaps that might otherwise occur
at the last minute. It's probably also a work flow issue -
they want to publish 7 days a week but perhaps work less than
7 days a week - things are best done in batches larger than a
day - that sort of thing.
In the case of Thursday listings, the listings themselves are
posted on Tuesday at about 9am Eastern Time, 16 days before
the listing date and 2 days before the publication date.
These listings are not readily accessible because there webpages
are set up to only allow you to select from yesterday to 2 weeks
from today.
For those of us that can write HTML, this is no significant
obstacle. We can write our own selection for whatever dates we
want.
