Ebert once said, "If you disagree with something I write, tell me so, argue
with me, correct me--but don't tell me to shut up. That's not the American way."
There is nothing about their life that is sheltered. There is no evidence whatsoever that they are sheltered. The assumption that they are sheltered can be based only on the fact that they are homeschooled. I've known families like that-- not as extreme, but certainly more restricted than I have grown up. I admire the discipline shown by such children when they become healthy, socialized, intelligent, and knowledgable adults. I am not saying the military family is without fault, but to claim that they are going to get a shock when they enter the real world isn't very enlightened.
