Once again, I have no clue where Supes is and I'm still at work latish on a Tuesday night, so I'll be posting it again. (Seriously, I think Supes is even more swamped at work than I am, so do some voodoo to his boss's doll or something.) The Rules 1. Please put the name of your choice for this week's bootee IN THE SUBJECT HEADING! This is really easy. Just erase the bit where it says "Re: SurvivorBlows Tribe, It's Time to Vote!" and replace with your vote, i.e., Christy (just noticed I've been pasting Ghandia in all this time). This makes it easier to tally votes quickly and accurately. Oh, and btw... nicknames are tougher to tally unless they're REALLY obvious without actually reading your vote. 2. Reply ONLY to this post! Curves on women are good. Curves on vote threads are bad. The first part bears repeating: I like curves on women. EXCEPTION TO RULE 2! VOTE CHANGES! If it just so happens that you wanna change your vote for whatever reason, REPLY TO YOUR ORIGINAL POST! Your new post heading should read "VOTE CHANGE: Dave (or Whoever)". Both are the focus of this weeks TV promos and website teasers and both are “Trapped”; Matthew by his previous association with Ryan and Daniel, and Shawna because she wants to leave the game, but can’t because the “new alliance” needs her in order to keep control. It appears MB is just using them to divert attention away from this weeks attempt at a “surprise” boot. JABURU: THE CHILLONE: Had we not had access to The ChillOne’s “intel”, Joanna probably could be considered a “surprise” boot…but we DO have the intel and it tells us to focus our attention on Joanna… WEIGHT LOSS: Weight loss reports support Joanna leaving this week…for the Jaburu women, Joanna, Shawna and Jenna are the EP4 boot candidates based solely on weight loss information. STRATEGIES REVEALED: As we’ve seen time and again, strategies revealed to the viewers do not usually succeed. Jeanne and Joanna’s plan to put a target on Deena’s back by “initiating her” as tribe leader, appears to fail when Deena forms a dominant “new alliance”. Joanna becomes the likely target… on the wrong side of the 4-3 voting block. OFG THEORY: Even the OFG Theory points to Joanna this week. She was featured in the telltale promo vidcaps, both in recycled and new footage… FACE TIME: MB hid Daniel from the audience in the week before his boot by making him invisible, in an attempt to have the audience forget about him as a boot candidate. MB appears to have done the same thing again with Joanna last week. She had no confessionals and was edited without conflict. She was being set up as this week’s “surprise boot”, when Shawna “toughs it out for the team”… CBS WEBSITE: “A new alliance in the women's tribe thinks it's unstoppable. But when an illness hits Shawna, the power may be back up for grabs.” This week the alliance (which Janet mentioned in her chat) is revealed to the viewers. Deena, Shawna, Heidi and Jenna think they’re “unstoppable” with a 4-3 voting advantage. “Illness hits Shawna” and she wants out of the game, at which point the “power may be back up for grabs” at 3-3. JP COMMENTS: “But with Shawna . . . just let me say that wanting to quit and being able to quit are two different things, and when you see the episode next week you'll see what I mean" Shawna realizes she is “Trapped” and can not leave the game before the “New Alliance” can vote out Joanna… TAMBAQUI: The story over in the Tambaqui tribe appears to be secondary to thinks going on at Jaburu… JP COMMENTS: ”Now Matthew is one of those people who just doesn't get the game, either - he is an outcast who associated himself with Daniel and Ryan early, and now he is in a precarious situation.” Matthew is “Trapped” and must “craft a new strategy for survival”. CBS WEBSITE: “The men go out on a group expedition, but pointedly leave Matthew behind, leading him to craft a new strategy for survival.” The weight loss information suggests that his strategy is probably successful… WEIGHT LOSS: Weight loss reports for Matthew suggest that he is still safe and that Dave, Roger and Alex would be the more likely EP4 boot candidates if the Tambaqui men went to TC. EDITING: Since the editing focuses on Matthew as the only boot target from the men’s tribe and weight loss information suggests he sticks around for a while longer, we can conclude that the men probably win the IC this week. RECYCLED MISDIRECTION: The vidcap promos this week also contain several recycled shots: vidcaps of the men looking dejected, as well as the women celebrating a Challenge victory. This misdirection in vidcaps suggests they don’t have any real footage of the women winning this week…MB and CBS know that showing the women winning is good for ratings...but what do they do if the women happen to lose both challenges?... Show old footage of them winning to let the viewing public THINK they will win again… CONCLUSION: Looks like the men sweep the challenges, while ChillOne sweeps the first four boots…and the Immunity Idol takes revenge on Joanna. "Shawna" Probably too late to stop this runaway train, but I'm going to try anyway. First things first, I agree Jaburu is going to TC. Spoilers seem to indicate that, but I mainly base this on the fact that Matthew would be the almost certain boot target and spoilers indicate he lasts awhile. I think there is a slight outside chance Dave, unwilling to join the core Tambaqui alliance, might get ousted before Matthew, but its a longshot. So we turn to the women, and the two obvious candidates seem to be Joanna and Shawna. I've read the posts and as best I can tell, there seem to be three prominent reasons cited as to why we know that Joanna goes this week and Shawna (or somebody else doesn't). A) ChillOne says Joanna goes in the first 4 and ChillOne hasn't been wrong yet. B) Joanna is a b!tch and most of the spoiler community dislikes her. C) MB would never feature Shawna so prominently in the preview if she were actually going. So let's look at these shall we? A) CHILLONE IS WRONG ALL THE TIME CO said the first boot was Daniel. Wrong it was Ryan. CO said the second boot was "Brian." Wrong it was Janet. CO said the third boot was Joanna. Wrong it was Daniel. CO says the fourth boot is "a woman around 30." This is going to also be false, and I still cannot believe that anybody would think a disheveled Janet looks anywhere close to 30. For a while I thought that the fact that CO said Joanna is one of the first four boots may be some slight evidence of her going in the first four. But as often as CO is wrong, I just can't put any faith in that at all. B) THERE IS NOTHING ABOUT JOANNA'S PERSONALITY OR CURRENT TRIBAL STANDING THAT MAKES HER LIKELY TO GO To date, we've only heard one member of Joanna's tribe really complain about her, and that is Christy. The men (especially Rob) clearly dislike her, and in a merge or swap situation I can see her going easily. But Janet cited her as a leader, and Jeanne obviously considers her somewhat of an ally. She was the caller in the E2 RC challenge, so she must have some tribal respect. She's strong and has been working hard. Sure it could change, but there is no solid evidence of that. I also still cannot see why Deena would join an alliance with the three "cute girls." She has nothing to gain by it. Just because Janet in a CBS-sponsored chat says it is so means nothing to me. And even if such a 4some did exist, why target Joanna? Why not Christy who has a clear attitude problem, Deena has criticized, and Jenna is clearly uncomfortable around? Or why not Jeanne who is bossy, catches fewer fish, and does less work than Joanna does? It just seems odd to me. C) SHAWNA CAN BE PROMINENTLY FEATURED IN THE PREVIEW AND STILL GO In the first place it happens all the time. In S2, Kimmi and Jerri were both prominently featured in complaining negative lights in the previews before their boots. In S3, Linda and Frank were shown in very negative lights in the previews before their boots. In S4, Patricia was featured as bossy and negative in the preview before her boot. Next, MB pretty much has to at least mention Shawna's illness in the preview if it features heavily in the episode. Ignoring it entirely would seem a bit unfair, and MB has been criticized for keeping things hidden in the past, hasn't he? So why not do the atypical/unexpected and hide the boot in plain sight? Look at the boot polls folks: I checked our own, SurvivorFever and CBS. All have Joanna with commanding leads. Roger is second in our poll and Matthew is second at CBS. Shawna is second at SurvivorFever but still way behind Joanna. Nobody thinks the obvious boot is going to be booted. So isn't it the perfect time? Casual viewers will be surprised that Shawna goes because they will not even have realized she is sick. More aware viewers will either know of the spoilers or at least think that since Shawna is featured and the previews are "always" misleading that she will be saved. We too will be surprised when it doesn't happen. D) THE JP QUOTE Probst's quote that "wanting to leave and being able to leave" are two different things could have a lot of meanings. It could mean that Shawna wants to quit but sticks it out for her alliance who still mercy boots her. Or Jaburu could be told that if Shawna does leave they would still face a TC that night and might have to vote out somebody else. Not enough by itself to tell me that Shawna sticks around. E) LOGIC Shawna is clearly dragging in the fire challenge and sits out the pirahna challenge. Assuming Jaburu loses, no women will be able to sit out challenges in E5. Keeping her around for any sort of physical (or even mental) challenge could seriously threaten Jaburu yet again and reduce their numbers below those of the men. There is no incentive for Deena, Jenna, and Heidi to keep around an alliance partner who physically can't even make it to the merge. Besides Joanna and Christy hate each other, what are the chances of them forming an alliance? Those three votes may still be enough to survive. The Bottom Line: Shawna, like Janet, is sick and doesn't want to be there. Jaburu's "unstoppable alliance" gets stopped as they give one of their own a mercy boot.   Top

I'm still stuck on the fact that strong alliance numbers (H-S-J alliance + D?) outweigh strength of the tribe for most individuals... H/J may be more comfortable keeping S around to be DOUBLY sure for their own backs, but Deena seems annoyed with S in the previews. So I'm going with the obvious... Besides, when Jessie was sent out on a mercy vote, we all saw how sick she was almost all episode... EDITED TO ADD::: Besides, even if by some odd chance the men went to TC, I think Dave is this season's Kathy O'Brien.   Top
