Ryan also notes that he as to be careful about not getting distracted by all the female "eye candy" Jenna moans that an all women tribe is her worst nightmare, she can't manipulate women. If you wanted to make a strong alliance with someone from day one, wouldn't it be a good idea to make the effort to communicate with the deaf person. Somebody is going to make the effort to talk to Christy and this will start a major story arc of an alliance built on this act of kindness. The editing is setting it up perfectly...   Top

"Its Deena" LAST EDITED ON 02-14-03 AT 00:21 AM (EST) she was the first to tell Christy her name when she revealed she was deaf, and there was a lot of smiling and hand holding between them at the IC (although its possible I mixed some of them up during the challenge - I thought at one point that Joanna was paired with Christy before I realized 'Christy' was Jeanne, for example) So...we seem to have pairs of Jenna/Heidi, Joanna/Jeanne, and possibly Deena/Christy. I didn't get a sense that Shawna or Janet were very strongly allied with anyone, although Heidi seemed sympathetic to Janet (but Jenna certainly did not)   Top

The five minute breaks were scaring me, too. I was recording it and pausing during commercials. The pause only holds for 5 minutes and shows a countdown on the screen. I was getting worried SEVERAL times that the VCR would shut off. Is our children learning?   Top

You'll take that million I agree with above comment on how women are more likely to exclude other women (particularly in regards to disability, etc); women are much more brutal than men when it comes to those things. A study has shown that grammar-school age girls are much meaner to other girls than boys their same age... I really believe that the further in age a woman is from grammar school, the less likely she is to be nasty to other women, but that's just me. I predict it won't be Heidi, Shawna, or Jenna (pah-leeez, and take the spotlight off her protruding shoulder blades?) who will gravitate towards Christy; it will be one of the other (older) 4. Meanwhile, the men play "Quien es mas macho" around the campfire.......   Top

I thought this was kinda odd seeing that this episode is a half-hour longer than previous premieres.   Top
