"Article about Clay: Helen denies telling Ted that clay was racist" |
Here is an article on survivornews.net about clay He says that helen denied telling ted anything.I will find out more hopefully during the monday chats http://www.amarillonet.com/stories/122102/ent_survivor1.shtml Racist charge on 'Survivor' still bristles Canyon native By Chip Chandler
A day after winning $100,000 as the runner-up on "Survivor: Thailand," Canyon native Clay Jordan was still bristling over an accusation that he is a racist.
Tribemate Ted Rogers Jr. accused Jordan of making unspecified racist comments during their time on the show. Rogers made the accusation during Thursday's pre-taped final episode of the CBS reality game show, as well as during a live reunion show that night. Rogers made the first accusation during the final tribal council, at which seven ousted contestants decided which of the final two - Jordan or Brian Heidik - deserved to win the $1 million grand prize. Heidik, a used car salesman from Quartz Hill, Calif., won on a 4-3 vote. Rogers repeated his claim during the live reunion show, saying that fellow contestant Helen Glover told him about the alleged comment after she was voted off the show. In a telephone interview Friday morning, Jordan said he still doesn't know what comment Rogers thinks he made. "I asked him that night in tribal council in Thailand. ... He couldn't tell me then. At the reunion, you saw, I immediately went up to Ted and said, 'Ted, tell me what you think I said.' He couldn't tell me then," Jordan said. "I don't know where he got it. Helen said she doesn't know where he got it. "The reason I lost, that hurt, because I didn't do it. Blame me for something I did do, and I'll take the loss." Jordan said he believes Rogers made the accusation because he was upset that he was outmaneuvered in the game and came in fifth place. "A big guy can't stand for a little guy to beat him at anything, that was his reason," Jordan said. "Ted was outsmarted, and he didn't like that." Aside from that flare-up, Jordan said he has no regrets about competing in the show. "I wouldn't change one second of everything I did. It was so hard, and it's kind of hard to understand how hard it was," Jordan said. "There are no words to describe how hard it was," he said. He was on a small island off the coast of southern Thailand from early June to mid-July. He lost 34 pounds during filming. A restaurant owner from Monroe, La., Jordan said he's been surprised by the attention the show brought him. His accent, short stature and colorful language have been ribbed by media outlets and the show's fans. The Web site thesmokinggun.com turned up Jordan's bankruptcy filing. But that hardly got the attention that the site's revelation of Heidik starring in a series of soft-core pornography films did. "What does that have to do with the game? ... We do have lives; we just got lucky. We just sent in a tape, and you don't know what will happen," Jordan said. That said, Jordan was as shocked by Heidik's past as anyone. "We talked about a lot of things on the island. ... Never did I dream that that would be part of him. It was unreal," Jordan said. Jordan will remain in Los Angeles through Monday, when he will travel to Lubbock to celebrate Christmas. After that, he'll return to Monroe and his restaurant, and he plans an eventual trip to Amarillo to visit his brother, father and stepmother. Beyond that, "I'm gonna use anything I've got. ... Do I think I'm going to move to California? Nope. There's airplanes that go that way," Jordan said. "To the other three still out there, break a leg......and I mean it" - Helen Glover

Clay doesn't seem mad with Helen, but he's (understandably) royally pissed with Ted!

It seems pretty doubtful that Helen lied to Ted, considering that in his chat, Brian said that Clay made a general comment that was racist; not one specifically about Ted, but a racist one nonetheless. Helen said that she didn't tell Ted what was said, just that she had heard Clay say something that she considered racist. And last but not least, this isn't Helen's quote, it's Clay's. No one knows what racist comment Clay did or did not make, but no one knows what Helen said to Clay about it, either.

Given that Helen now wishes she had given the million bucks to Clay, whatever he said couldn't possibly be that offensive, as I don't think she'd be wishing a million dollars on a horrible racist, would she?Anyway, Clay is still really pissed at being Ghandiaed by Ted: "Ted got mad at someone for hearsay but he was going by hearsay himself in accusing me of such a thing. It really angered me that night, and I was vocal about it, and if he called me a redneck hick, well, I'd rather be a redneck hick than a Big Ted going around accusing people of things that he can't give them the answer to of what he hurt. He's a big guy, and big guys don't like getting beat by little guys."

11. "RE: Article about Clay: Helen denies telling Ted that clay was racist" |
How does her story keep changing? Gee, where do I start? First, she denied telling Ted anything. Then she admitted the story about telling Ted and Ken... then said she only confirmed Clay said something. Also, I've gone into it elsewhere about Helen's extrapolations of the Ted and Ghandia incident becoming forcible rape, and it's application to Clay's possible remarks, so I won't go into that here. Furthermore to this point, in another area Helen is shown to be contradictory: In the Reunion show, when Jan said she was never approached by Helen, Helen showed up Jan by saying that she (Helen) DID approach Jan. HOWEVER, the next morning Helen said she saw Jan sitting alone looking down in the dumps, so she (Helen) *assumed* that Jan was going next... all but admitting that she DIDN'T approach Jan. Bottom line: Helen's word is no better than anyone else's. Helen: always to be remembered as a FAILURE to win Survivor. Contradictions don't exist. If you are faced with a contradiction, check your premises. You will find that one of them is wrong. -- Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged

12. "Minor point of clarification" |
I agree with much of what you've said Dawg, but I think you're getting 2 events confused with this last point...Furthermore to this point, in another area Helen is shown to be contradictory: In the Reunion show, when Jan said she was never approached by Helen, Helen showed up Jan by saying that she (Helen) DID approach Jan. HOWEVER, the next morning Helen said she saw Jan sitting alone looking down in the dumps, so she (Helen) *assumed* that Jan was going next... all but admitting that she DIDN'T approach Jan. When Jan said she was never approached by Helen, she was referring to E12, prior to Ted's ouster. The occasion where Helen didn't approach Jan was prior to the next TC where Helen herself got the boot. The original line of questioning was around why Helen, Ted and Jan didn't rise up and take out Clay. Jan said she wasn't approached. That's when Helen said that she had, in fact, approached her (it was shown in E12 as well for all of us to see for ourselves). As for the rest of what Helen's said (or hasn't said), it's all very sketchy to say the least. The whole business is pretty sordid, and all the players (including Clay) seem rather petty. The only difference being that I can understand Clay's outrage at being labeled a racist with nothing to back it up. It's his contention that it cost him a win that I take issue with (but that's another thread entirely ). On a different note, I'm still dying to know what Brian told Ken. I know some have speculated that it was racial in nature, but we'll probably never know. Fester
