1. "RE: Episode 9: Desperate Measures"
Sounds like one "group/alliance" Original or new, is in the minority and is Desperately trying to avoid a pagonging again. But who is the desperate one(s).

If Shii is still there (big if by this point) she could be desperate, but I don't see her acting this way. Jake does not seem like he would ever be desperate, but Erin and Penny could be.

As for the Chewies, If Jan has not been committed yet, do you think she would be desperate? She hasn't been so far and she was the obvious boot for a couple of days. Clay I could see becoming desperate, if he is on to the Ted/Brian thing.

Maybe Jan, Helen, Clay take some desperate measures to boot Ted or Brian, maintain a majority in the voting, but break up a solid F2 alliance to avoid a messy endgame?

Thoughts?

Maybe Erin will start using her best assets on the porn star, the molester and the hick. Oh... did I say that? Back to bashers.

After Shi-Ann ends up "sleeping with the enemy" and aiding in the boot of one of her fellow SJ's (maybe Ken seeing he could most likely pull a Colby with the IC's), the remaining SJ's realaize desperate times call for "desperate measures", maybe they'll try to sway Jan over to their side. Or maybe the IC has to do with measuring out something??? that's my take.

Only stating the obvious here, but with eight castaways left the only way anybody is concerned with taking "desparate measures" is if there is a 5-3 split and pagonging has set in. I'd also say that, at this point, the tribes must have fully merged... otherwise the obvious solution for the Sookies (assuming based on our other spoilers that they are the minority) would be to simply win a tribal IC immunity.

Whether that means that Shii Ann is among those taking desparate measures or has already left the island is speculation I'll leave to other posters....

6. "RE: Episode 9: Desperate Measures"
I think Episode 8 for sure is the last week for there to be team immunity. Since the first member of the jury won't be officially on the jury til Ep. 9, there is still potential for one more team immunity challenge.

Jan would definitely be booted on CG if that were to happen.

For SJ, most likely Jake or Ken would be in trouble. Penny/Erin are sticking together and the other 2 will vie for the other vote. Jake hasn't had enough screen time yet, so I'd say Ken would be history, unless the other SJ's feel Jake is getting too close to CG.

This is a great theory ICB but what do you think would happen if it's a 2-2 split on the vote at SJ? Just a thought...

Wrong cowboy, but I do agree it is a great theory

BTW for what it's worth I don't think Jake would be the target and I dont think he would risk the purple rock to save Ken. Therefore I expect if SJ goes back to TC, Ken will get his walking papers.

9. "RE: Episode 9: Desperate Measures"
Just reiterating that point, I think Jake is actually more with Erin and Penny than we are seeing...his audition video is enough evidence for me that he primarily would like to be in an alliance with women, plus his actions...I think he is trying to keep everyone chipper, plus we really haven't seen enough of him..his story arc isn't over, and he will most likely be marked safe for this week. I think people in trouble are Ken, Penny, Jan, and Clay. Clay could be in trouble because he did give Ted/Brian a reason to doubt him, but we didn't see any of that this week, we did see it in ep.5 and 6 some. I think Ted/Brian/Jake/Helen are the only for sure safe people this week.

8. "RE: Episode 9: Desperate Measures"
Desperate Measures, what could that mean? I would think that that title could have been yesterdays title(10/31) with Shii Ann about to trade sides when she thought it was a merge to try to save herself. In this case, the tribes would go back to even teams. Could somebody possibly do that again, but this time be sure there was a merge so they don't kick themselves off like Shii did??? But going agaisnt this theory, I don't have a clue who it could be. I would highly doubt this is right, but you never know. Just an idea.

5. "Evidence of another Sucky IC loss?"
Assuming they still don't merge in ep.8 - and it doesn't look like they do - is this title evidence of another SJ loss, leaving them desperate with 3 memebers to Chewy's 5.

Or is this another overblown title about something small. One person's desperation (Jan, Penny).

Pinched from SurvivorFever:

"News from home draws sharp responses from the castaways that could impact one contestant's future in the game. Also, one alliance tries to infiltrate a rival group."
A ninth contestant is voted off the island

Didn't Clay's wife say he had NO contact with his family for 39 days? Perhaps the CG DO lose immunity this week and boot Clay instead of Jan?

14. "RE: CBS Episode "
Here's the exact quote taken from the article regarding Clay and his wife and the lack of contact for 39 days:

Clay's absence also took a toll on Linda, she said.

"The hardest part of all of this was no contact," she said, explaining how she and her husband were out of touch for the 39 days the show was being shot. "We'd never really gone more than three or four days without contacting each other. Even my husband said that's the hardest part, because the lack of food was really severe, but no contact was really hard for him."

Keep in mind that the friends/family does not have to be the wife. Remember Sean said how close he was to his mom and his friend came.

If they come in person, she may not like to fly and that is a long trip.

13. "RE: CBS Episode "
2 things to consider...

1) This is about 2 episodes early for the "friends and family" episode. It's been E11 or later since S2. And in S1 it was the prize, rather than part of the challenge, in E8.

2) This episode was filmed over 4th of July (I believe day 25, or the first day of E9, was July 4).

Additionally, the wording of this "teaser" doesn't lend itself to the usual family contact episodes. Here are the relevant teasers from S4 and S3:

S4: An unexpected event brings the castaways to tears for what one castaway calls "the most emotional moment of my life"

S3: The tribe members get to know each other a little better through their respective families, who participate in a challenge

This strikes me as being some information they get about a contestant, or about something that happened in the States over 4th of July. The wording choice of "sharp responses" would seemingly refer to someone saying something that pisses the others off; so much so that it puts the crosshairs (even if only temporarily) on that person.

It's likely to be a red herring, though. Nearly every time someone's future demise is speculated in the CBS press release, it's misdirection. (Not that that's big news to anyone here.)

Did something happen that week besides the 4th? You could be right, maybe they get to watch satellite feed of the fireworks in NYC and DC. Maybe Helen gets recalled. Is anyone still in the show part of a National Guard unit? Just trying to think what sort of news might impact on someone's future in the show.

17. "Video Quiz IC?"
>"News from home draws sharp responses
>from the castaways that could
>impact one contestant's future in
>the game.

Remember the Africa Newlywed Game type quiz where the players' answers had to match the answers given by their families back home. Maybe this indicates something like that, it wouldn't even have to involve family or friends, just news. Jiffy of course instructs them to put their answers in the form of sharp responses. I wonder if the judges will deduct points if a response lacks the instructed sharpness. Artistic interpretation, of course, could be the real thing the judges get wicked about. If it is quiz for immunity that does impact one contestant's future in the game by ensuring 3 more days to whoever wins. (I'd be actually excited about this idea if I thought maybe the quiz deadlock breaker was making a return appearance.)
