LAST EDITED ON 03-16-11 AT 12:38 PM (EST)How it's done:
There are 24 of us competing this year, so you all wound up with 2 teams owned outright plus a shared team. 24 + 24 + 12 = 60, so that left us with 4 unassigned teams, which I assigned to BYE1 and BYE2 on my computer generated bracket maker. update: AyaK has claimed two of the BYE teams.
Once the bracket was generated randomly with each peep (or BYE) getting two teams, I paired each of us up for the third assignment based on: average ranking of the two assigned teams and careful analysis of region distribution of the randomly assigned teams.
The complete randomness of the generator is exhibited in the positions of where those BYEs would up. It's almost as random as the NCAA placing TWO Tuesday play in games in the same bracket!!!
I was wracking my brain to figure out how to get one BYE in each region, but that caused me some major headaches and would have made some folks wind up with two teams in the same region. After having too much human hand in my effort to fix it all, I thought it better to just bow to the randomness of the bracket maker and let my OCD go.
no I didn't. yes.i.did. no.i.didn't. yes.i.did. GAH!!! *deep breath* let it go, already!
What you need to do:
Nothing!!! Sit back, enjoy the games... but, oh, yeah, you should check the list for the following:
1. Your name appears three times. Twice alone and once shared.
2. You have teams in 3 different regions: East, West, SouthEast or SouthWest.
*If you find an error, let me know in this thresd. I will enjoy giving myself more headaches.
How the game is played:
I will post the spreads for each day in this thread starting on Thursday when the real games begin! I will be using the spreads from Yahoo! We don't count Tuesday's play in games (those are marked with *). Whoever has any of those 4 games automatically gets the winner of those games tonight.
If you are disappointed because you got a low seed, don't worry! This is a spread pool. What that means is the favorite must beat the spread to keep the player alive, if it doesn't, the player with the underdog team takes over the winner. (Don't think a high seed is a shoo in, however, because those teams tend to have huge spreads to cover).
Here's an example for those who never played this before:
Let's say the #3 seed is Webby and he is playing against the 14 seed AyaK. The spread is 12, and Webby's team wins 68 - 62. That means the #3 seed is now AyaK because even though he lost, it was not by more than 12 points, get it?
If a team wins by exactly the spread, say the 12 points, then Webby and AyaK would both continue in the tournament and share that team.
NOTE:
PLEASE, PLEASE do not discuss your complaints which do not pertain to this GAME in this thresd! I don't give a rats ass if you love or hate Duke or think Rutgers got cheated. There is an NCAA complaining thresd for that. Save this thresd for the many, many updates and comments about this GAME only. Thanks!!!
