PLEASE NOTE: The Reality TV World Message Boards are filled with desperate attention-seekers pretending to be one big happy PG/PG13-rated family. Don't be fooled. ""Escape from Experiment Island" on TLC Wed 10pm"
WHAT ELSE IS ON?

For those of you who couldn't give one hoot about Celebrity Mole: Hawaii, there is a choice of new reality programming this Wednesday at 10 p.m.

On TLC, Escape from Experiment Island is a mini-series reality show, which, given its locale, is probably produced by one of the British t tv networks.

As anyone who has seen any British reality programming knows, the main difference from American shows is that there are no huge cash prizes. In fact, there aren't any cash prizes, period.

British reality tv is all about the Experience. Whether it's going back 100 years to live in The 1900 House, sending a group of families to be Castaway for a year on a cold Scottish island or going back thousands of years to try Surviving The Iron Age, the Brits make reality tv that is ALL about the Experience.

This latest offering promises a little bit more in the artificial problem- solving arena, with a time-limit on solving the essential problem of putting together a means of escape.

My tv guide blurbie appears to have drawn on a press release or an official website for the following description:

"Eight strangers are stranded off the west coast of Scotland (on an island) and have 4 days and 4 nights to 'overcome a series of challenges and design & build often-outlandish vehicles using only their ingenuity, some natural resources and scraps of civilization' in order to escape from the island."

I'll be checking this show out and reporting back here about it. I do hope it's worthwhile. It sounds very interesting.

This show actually looks very promising. When I first saw the promo for it, I thought it was just a montage of different shows. Just awesome!

From the TLC site http://tlc.discovery.com/fansites/experimentisland/challenges/challenges.html:

"The Challenges
In the Scottish Hebrides, on the remote Isle of Rum, eight strangers face bleak and uncompromising conditions in a race to get back to civilization. Divided into two teams, the contestants have five days to construct hand-crafted escape vehicles capable of beating their opponents in a head-to-head race on the final day. With howling winds, biting flies, little running water, and formidable competition, each team needs ingenuity, strength — and each other — to claim victory. "

Sounds like Survivor meets Junkyard Wars. Should be fun.

Hi Asrai & AZ-Leo. It does sound promising doesn't it? Thanks for that extra bit of info, AZ-Leo. I don't know how many episodes they'll get out of this adventure - we'll find out on Wed., I guess.

If there are several episodes, maybe one or both of you would like to take on the recapping duties for one of those eps?
