"10/27 - pre-show spoilerish stuff" |
LAST EDITED ON 10-27-04 AT 12:32 PM (EST)Spoilerish stuff.... ******* ******* filler ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* ******* more filler * * * * * More episode titles: Ep 11: All the Best Cowboys have Daddy Issues (?) Ep 12: The Case The Korean couple will be tonight's featured character(s) in the episode entitled House of the Rising Sun. Ep 7 will be about Charlie (The Moth). Ep 8 will be about Sawyer (Confidence Men). Ep 9 will be about Sayid (Solitary). Ep 10 is about Claire (Raised by Another). ***edited stuff below*** Who is left? Well Kate/Marshall was ep 3, Locke was ep 4, Jack was ep 5. So then we have Hurley, Michael/Walt, Boone, and Shannon. Based solely on titles, I'm assuming ep 11 is about Michael/Walt. Apparently there will be a total of 22 episodes on the season (that seems like a lot): ABC's plane crash castaway drama "Lost" has been picked up for a full season, which means another nine episodes will be filmed in addition to the 13 already in production, the Honolulu Star-Bulletin reported Friday. (from yahoo news). So I guess we will get to know a little more about many of these characters. Also, the Rousseau character mentioned in the character names thread is said to play a pretty important role in upcoming episodes, as is a currently unknown character named Ethan who also pops up in Sayid's episode, Solitary. He appears in at least eps, 9, 10, and 11 (according to IMDB and a sci fi channel interview). ***end of edit*** The title for ep 11 seems odd. All the Best Cowboys have Chinese Eyes is a song title (I've seen some stuff about all of these episodes being song titles), but Daddy Issues? I'm not sure I'm buying this as the ep title just yet. So tonight's episode is about Sun/Jin. House of the Rising Sun. Interesting. "Rising Sun" = brothel. Was Sun a prostitute of some sort? Or might this title carry a more literal meaning...rising Sun, as in the character Sun. I've found some info that says Sun & Jin were once very happy together and that Jin was either going to ask Sun for a divorce or did shortly before the plane crash. Also, I found mention of some translations (not word-for-word - just a general idea of what is said) of Jin/Sun's discussions (the non subbed parts). Apparently, Jin is actually very polite in speaking to Sun and the only time he's been disrespectful in these conversations is when he calls Sayid a "son of a beggar" after he accuses Sun of stealing the water. Not much info, but I just thought I'd post what's out there and maybe we can get some discussions going about Jin/Sun in preparation for tonight's episode.

1. "RE: 10/27 - pre-show spoilerish stuff" |
LAST EDITED ON 10-27-04 AT 03:57 PM (EST)I've noticed that all the "flashbacks" about the characters previous lives have been somewhat introductory. Makes me think we are going to have additional episodes where we learn more of each character's history. That leads to my question- Do you guys think eveyone will be "introduced" first, or will we get a 2nd episode one some one first. ABC first put up 13 episodes- that means one each- but now the show has been picked up for a full season. I wonder how much history each of the characters has been given already on the story boards. ****** I've been watching the show titles too. Trying to figure them out is just a much fun a spoiling reality shows. I think "House of the Rising Sun" is a somewhat literal title, but we may get a clever "double" pun in some way with the the whole song vs. just a title. Edited to add lyrics- There is a house in New Orleans They call the Risin' Sun. Been the ruin of a many a poor gal, And me, oh, God, I'm one! If I'd a-listened what mama said I'd a-been at home today. Being so young and foolish, poor boy, I let a gambler lead me astray. My mother, she's a tailor, She sewed those new blue jeans. My sweetheart, he's a drunkard, Lord, Drinks down in New Orleans. The only thing a drunkard needs Is a suitcase and a trunk; The only time he's satisfied Is when he's on a drunk. Fills his glasses to the brim, Passes them around, The only pleasure that he gets out of life Is a-hoboin' from town to town. Go tell my baby sister Never do like I have done, To shun that house in the New Orleans That they call the Risin' Sun! One foot's on the platform, The other on the train, I'm going back to New Orleans To wear that ball and chain. Going back to New Orleans, My time is almost done; Going back to spend my life Beneath that Rising Sun. I'm not getting anything out of it, but I decided I'd post it in case something happens tonight.

3. "Interview with show's co-creator - some hints/clues/spoilers" |
http://thundercat.typepad.com/lost/2004/10/interview_with_.html#moreSome of the more interesting stuff Will you get a look at the "thing in the trees" in the first 13? I'll only say this -- maybe you'll see it, maybe you won't... but you'll definitely know much more ABOUT it. ... -- it takes a little while to figure out who falls into which of those categories... and once someone's defined as "good," it doesn't mean they'll STAY that way (see: Skywalker, Anakin). ... Neither the crash, nor anything else, is dictated by happenstance. As to ANOTHER major crash before season four? Hmmmm. Well, probably not another AIRLINER... but certainly something... ... Greatest thing about the "other" castaways is that they can come forward for an episode, then melt back into the chorus. The popular thinking that their function is purely to be Red Shirts is grossly mistaken. In FACT... We've always loved the idea that one of our series regs goes traipsing off into the jungle with one of the castaways we've never seen before. The audience is thinking the poor yahoo with one line is gonna die a gruesome and horrible death, but then it's the REGULAR who gets wiped out. It will be done. Watch and see ... I will not comment on whether or not we'll be meeting any other human beings on the island who were NOT on the plane. But I will posit this -- Who's to say we haven't already?
Interesting stuff! So...at least one of these 13 regulars is going to die...or so we're being led to believe. Any guesses? I kinda think it's either Hurley or Shannon - just a gut feeling.
Something is crashing and/or joining these survivors. This show is talked about a lot on the Sci Fi Channel website. Wonder which one of the zillion sci fi theories floating around out there fits. I've heard the "Identity" theory (with Locke as the puppetmaster/psych), the "Fantasy Island" theory, the "they're all dead" theory, the alien theory, and tons of others. This show is just too interesting. At least one person will be seen as "good" and won't be, and I'm guessing the opposite is true (I do thnk Jin will end up being good). The thing in the trees. Well I think there is no thing in the trees. At least not in any sort of physical sense. I think Locke's assertion that he's "looked into the eyes of the island" (or whatever the heck he said) is definitely not meant to be taken literally. I wish I had taped these first episodes. I'm definitely taping the rest from now on!
