Without further ado, here is the listing of the summary schedule for Survivor 5 (Thailand) and 6 (???). General Alternates (in order): 1. Silvergirl1* (summary scheduled) 2. s_man* (no summary scheduled) S6-specific Alternates (in order): 1. Superman 2. dangerkitty OK, here's a full rundown. First, my apologies to Silvergirl1 and s_man -- I just ran out of episodes. If someone has to cancel, though, you're the first alternates for S5 or if one of the new writers doesn't fulfill the prerequisites prior to the S6 schedule being finalized. Second, to LionChow and Ra_8secs: you now know what's required prior to S6. Good luck in satisfying the requirements. For S6, I added two more alternates: the two writers that wrote the finales of S3 and S4 (and who both ended up getting spots in the S5 summaries). Why, you ask? Simple: I like them, and they are great writers. Please post any comments, change requests, etc. in this thread.   Top

I am looking forward to every summary, I just love them (and read some even for some shows I don't watch). I didn't expect episode designations for S6 (not complaining, just observing), and am pleased as punch to be included in the schedule. If any problems crop up, schedule or whatever wise, later on, I am certain I can find a suitable stand-by. Anyway, lest anyone forget, there are plenty of shows worthy of summaries, Survivor is just considered the cream of the crop around here. There are some shows I cannot stand and wouldn't want to summarize in a million years, honestly, but they are out there. Is anyone doing summaries of the Anna Nicole Smith show? I caught one of those, what a weird game, I don't understand how anyone wins except Anna Nicole. SMILES ARE FREE   Top

Guess that is why YOU are the webmaster. I can't believe I have to wait until next season! But the penultimate episode of should be a fun one. I enjoyed doing that episode of the Mole. Keep me in mind as a back-up for this season, too, or if anyone needs to switch I WILL be by the channel. Episode 8 is STILL my FIRST CHOICE Preference, and if my 2nd & 3rd Choices--Episode 7--Sir Erist, and --Episode 9--Drive My Car--respectively, wants to switch with me prior to that... Bows, obsequences, etc. Second, I'm confused about getting the "Thank, you, I think you've passed the audition" allrighty. Do you mean I should get scheduled/sign up for some other show's summary, or just write a couple at random as samples? The other shows could be quite interesting takes, since I've only logged about 30 minutes of BB3 in my tv excursions outside of survivor. PS, and yuck/yuck: Anna Nicole Smith's show, which I've only seen in news clips, seems to be so over the top farcical, that the only way to treat is as a serious socio-cultural documentary. Choice #1: sign up for a summary on some other show. Right now, we're soliciting summary writers for Push, Nevada -- which isn't really a reality show, more like an interactive drama where we're supposed to pick up clues (like some computer games, I guess) -- and we still have a few openings. Obviously, we'll do summaries of "Mole 3" when it's on (but I'll bet there will be lots of people seeking the summary slots for it!). Choice #2: do a summary for some OTHER reality show for which we are not currently doing summaries. Yes, Anna Nicole is a possibility, although I can't imagine any sane person not feeling soiled by writing about her. But you could do any other show, too -- "Road Rules", "Real World" (whenever it's back on), "The Osbournes", or any other weird reality show that wanders across the pike (such as ABC's "The Bachelor" or Fox's "Bachelorettes in Alaska" or USA's "Combat Missions"). First of all, I can't do Episode 5 due to a scheduling conflict. And frankly, I don't know that I would trade with you even if I could (in spite of how tempting AyaK makes Ep 5 sound.) I am aghast at the number of posts you have made in this thread, trying to get the "perfect" episode. You clearly stated in your original post requesting a summary that you would do ANY episode except #1, and while you went so far as to post an order of preference - do you really expect AyaK to hassle with that? What if EVERYONE had an order of preference, and demanded that AyaK honor it? He's generously giving a ton of his valuable time to organize this, and it's bad enough that he had to deal with an over-abundance of volunteers to try and place, plus many of us did have dates that we absolutely couldn't write on. And you want to keep stirring the pot? Please, get over it. Either write the summary you have been assigned, or bow out and let an alternate take it. "S5 Scheduling" LAST EDITED ON 08-30-02 AT 09:08 PM (EST) I just wanted to discuss what went into the S5 scheduling, for no particular reason other than to blab... I offered landruajm E1 because (1) I like to alternate E1 writers, so everybody gets a chance, (2) landruajm was a dedicated basher, and (3) landruajm had asked for TAR2 E1 but I gave it to SherpaDave instead. So let's go from there... Generally, anyone that I would ask to write a finale summary for Survivor will have either written an E7 summary or a finale summary for another show (yeah, I know I've never posted that, but this is the post where I give away the secrets). Leaving out shakes, Superman, dangerkitty and myself (who wrote the 4 previous Survivor finales), here were the choices: Previous Survivor E7 writers: SherpaDave, HawkEye. Previous finale writers for other shows: TeamJoisey (TAR1), Lisapooh (TAR2), Jonnycumlately (Bachelorettes in Alaska), SurvivinDawg (Combat Missions). Thus, of the people who signed up, my first choices to write the finale were SherpaDave, Lisapooh and SurvivinDawg. I also included Survivorerist in that mix, because I've loved his summaries, even though he's never done a Survivor summary before (I have to admit that, even though it really complicated the story-telling, I thought the "contestant rebellion" in BlowsVivor E6 was one of the funniest things I'd ever read). Dawg, however, made it clear that he didn't want to write the finale -- he wanted to write a first episode. And, as it happened, Pooh didn't win a spot in S5 in the lottery. So I asked Sherps to do the S5 finale and Pooh to do the S6 finale, who both accepted, and I gave Survivorerist S5 E7 -- the normal "prequalifier" for a finale writer. OK, three positions down, eleven to go. I knew who the lottery winners were, so I knew my pool to work from. dangerkitty had said that she couldn't write an episode before 10/17 and that she was going out of town on 10/12 or 10/13. I knew how variable her schedule has been, so I gave her the first episode that I thought she'd be back in town and able to do -- 10/24 (E6). Outfrontgirl had asked for an episode with lots of strategy and spoiling interest -- in the last two Survivors, E8 has been #1 in that regard. I wanted to separate Superman and dangerkitty in the schedule, since they were the two previous finale writers ... but I didn't want Superman to do the episode right before the finale, because that would put the "Criminals" back-to-back. Normally, I would have given him E10, but that was on U.S. Thanksgiving ... which left E11. Femme had volunteered to do the recap; no one else seemed to want it. Pepe had volunteered to do the U.S. Thanksgiving episode; most of us didn't want it. So ... at this point, here was my schedule: E1: landruajm E2-E5: blank E6: dangerkitty E7: Survivorerist E7.5: Femme E8: Outfrontgirl E9: blank E10: PepeLePew13 E11: Superman E12: blank E13: SherpaDave As you can see, the schedule had filled up fast. I also wanted to separate George Tirebiter and Dalton from dangerkitty and OFG in the schedule, and I thought they'd fit in well between the Criminals. So, E12. That left 5 slots and 5 writers: Bebo, Naked, drawde236, Teddy_Bear, and DriveMyCar. Of these, I knew I was going to offer Bebo the finale in TAR3, and she'd also volunteered to write a Push, Nevada summary, so I put her in the E2 slot, to minimize conflicts between the timing. Now, I had the E9 slot open, and two people who both were interested in being pushed back in the schedule: Teddy_Bear and DriveMyCar (EBug). EBug was recovering from surgery, and I had no idea that E5 would present so much of a problem for Teddy_Bear, so I gave E9 to EBug and E5, the latest remaining slot, to Teddy. That left E3 and E4, and I just assigned them randomly between Naked and drawde236. So ... that's the story of the S5 schedule. The S6 schedule went through a similar process, but it doesn't seem to have attracted as much attention yet, so I'll keep it to myself. I think we've reached the end of the discussion here. Teddy_Bear and Silvergirl1, you two still have E5. Teddy, since Silvergirl1 is the first alternate for S5, if the time slot is too much of a problem, my suggestion would be to let Silvergirl1 do the summary by herself. I'd suggest that people work things out among yourselves, but since it's obvious that's not working out all I can say is that if additional availability restrictions have come up since you first supplied AK with your availability, well, then frankly there's not much we can do, that's why AK went through the whole process of asking you all up front about any availability restrictions. If circumstances have changed and you're no longer going to be able to write that slot then fine, we'll find someone else to fill that slot and we'll do our best to re-schedule you for some future season -- but we're not going to reschedule the whole schedule due to someone's new unavailability. We've tried to make reasonable accommedations for people -- but the time for notifications of scheduling conflicts has come and gone. No one is under any obligation to write a summary, if you can't, you can't, all we ask is that you let us know in advance so that we can attempt to schedule a replacement. -SB   Top

I knew you had a tough challenge ahead of you scheduling all of these summaries, but I didn't realize all of the factors you were trying to take into consideration. As someone who's written summaries for multiple shows, I've learned that there is enough material in ANY of these shows for a kick-ass bashing summary. If the events aren't pivotal to the outcome (for example, anything about Vee on S4), then there are always silly contestant behaviors to poke. And you've always got to be on the lookout for classic lines. For example, in last night's BB3, I howled when Roddy asked Gerry, "Did you just call me stupid?", and I envy the summary writer who gets to take that line and run. And speaking of stupid, it didn't matter what else happened in Rob's "Do I look like I have stupid written across my forehead" episode, there was a gold mine there. Besides, we've already been given the juicy nugget that we have Porno Boy in this cast, so I just can't wait to see what else turns up. (apologies for including "poke" and "turns up" in that paragraph) AyaK, thanks for all of the effort you put into this. I was tickled when you scheduled me for the TAR finale, but I can assure you that I'll do any summary assigned to me, as long as I'm in town to write it. There's always fun to be had! Btw, I do agree with you that Silvergirl1 DESERVES to have her own summary. I am sorry if I unwittingly gave you, or--ANYONE ELSE the FALSE belief that ANYTHING would prevent me from doing my summary.
