Short out all the drama by declaring Kris safe first? (A Danny/Kris pairing at the end would have been a little more tense.) B. Terrify Adam's supporters into one last rally? C. Unite the Danny & Kris factions into an Anyone But Adam force to be reckoned with? D. Maintain his moral lock on the Second Worst Host position? E. None of the above.   Top

Simon has been snarky about Kris and now the producers have awoken to find out that Kris was popular after all and the realization that Danny fans might go to Kris next week was a big comeuppance. However, the whole announcement was handled rather clunkily overall and unfortunately for the producers I don't think it's going to achieve it's intended effect. All season the judges had been saying Adam and Danny would be the Final 2. They wanted to have them stand next to each other with the audience knowing one was going home. One of the favoured ones was going home. Oh the Drama!   Top

The point of declaring Kris safe first is because all season the judges pushed the idea of the Danny-Adam final two and now it wasn't going to be happening. Even if you knew Adam wasn't leaving, having Adam-Danny up there together gave them the opportunity to push that drama one last time. There's also the very real possibility Kris was the leading vote getter last night, depending on the extent to which Dial Idol under represents text messages.   Top

I do think Kris does really well in the texting based on who I think his fans are. DI looks at %Busies but also looks at timing and some other factors with that, so it isn't just %busies in the model they use to generate the score. My graphs show that Kris had a slightly higher %Busy signal number even if his dial idol score ended up being lower than Adams.   Top
