PLEASE NOTE: The Reality TV World Message Boards are filled with desperate
attention-seekers pretending to be one big happy PG/PG13-rated family. Don't
be fooled. Trying to get everyone to agree with you is like herding cats,
but intolerance for other viewpoints is NOT welcome and respect for other
posters IS required at all times. Jump in and play, and you'll soon find out
how easy it is to fit in, but save your drama for your mama. All members are
encouraged to read the
complete guidelines.
As entertainment critic Roger
Ebert once said, "If you disagree with something I write, tell me so, argue
with me, correct me--but don't tell me to shut up. That's not the American way."

Discuss tonight's results on this thread and this thread only until after the show has aired on the West Coast. Will we see what appears inevitable happen, or will tonight be the traditional fourth place shocker where a front runner goes home? Getting this up early as the thunder is a booming. Hopefully I'll have actual programming tonight, and power to see it with. Please no graphics so this thread will load fast for those in later time zones that justcan'twait.

It was a mess but it was an enjoyable mess because of Slash and because AI broadened its offerings again--some harder rock this week made for a good time instead of ballads, ballads, ballads. KWIM? Besides, I liked Adam's outfit. LOL, loved that he talked about his outfit, too!

Stay in the back, k? Adam - Sure. Is something wrong? MC - No sweetness, I just have to go check something out. *MC throws her lace shawl around her shoulders and ventures out to the front porch. Standing at the bottom of her well-worn wooden steps is a sight to behold. Legs that go on forever, a wild untamed mop of hair, controlled only by a tophat, eyes hidden behind dark sunglasses, guitar slung on the back, a smoke hanging from the corner of a set of lushious lips* MC - Um, can I help you? Stranger - Yes ma'am. Just looking for some antique jewelry. Got any? MC - Yes I do. Interested in coming in and having a look? Stranger - Sure. MC - Would you be interested in a lemonade? Stranger - Got anything stronger? MC - Why yes, I believe I do. *The Stranger slowly climbs up the stairs towards MC. Once he reaches her, they slowly turn together and walk into the Shoppe*

LAST EDITED ON 05-06-09 AT 08:16 PM (EST)Gokey goes to sleep on results nights. Kris says it is surreal he didn't expect to make it this far. Ryan and Simon say they want him to think he deserves to be there, not humble. Adam's favorite theme week. He liked his outfit. Danny talk about the final note. When you watched it back. The sound drowns everything out. Randy's eyes was big. He laughed the whole night after watching it. His own Aunt muted the TV. He say it is his funniest idol moment. Allison what about feistiness. They said he was asking for it. No disrespect. Ooops no results there, just filler.

You'll have "thrown under a bus" every time someone is criticized especially when who gets bad comments and who gets good ones seems to have nothing to do with their performance.Just because you didn't see a particular person eliminated in a specific episode doesn't mean the words being said by the judges were completely objective and without an agenda. I think the agenda is loud and clear a lot of times even if they don't seem to be getting what they want. Compare Kris's comments and singing order to someone like Matt that got saved repeatedly by the judges (had to get in on a wild card judge vote, etc.). Really, Matt is 10 times better than Kris could ever hope to be? Even though Kris outsells him by a mile on Itunes and obviously gets a lot more votes? But Matt gets every pass and every advantage and Kris basically gets tossed under the bus regularly. I dunno why Matt was such the darling of the judges other than they think some Timberlake clone is what America wants to buy. I mean Timberlake sells well, so anyone you can shove in that mold must be ratings and sales gold, right? Even though they've done this before on other seasons and the Timberfake never wins.

Well, Danny could've been going, but Kris was definitely the presumed victim. However, it's clear from the way Ryan repeated the fact that the selections were in no particular order that Kris didn't get the highest votes. My guess is that he was third. Still, it was enough to get him through (and he really is a cute little thing!)

I'm wondering if Kris *did* get the most votes. Matt's fans went somewhere...Kris got depimped and condescended to by Simon... and having to sing his solo right after the duet...while Adam and Allison rested their voices to get the pimp spot of the show. From what I have read on some boards, people noticed and were unhappy about it. Has anyone noticed that Danny has never had the pimp spot in the top 13? And the semi finals pimp spot he had was back in February. Adam got back to back pimp spots. Huh. That's an AI first. They didn't even pimp Jordin Sparks back to back like that! She got the pimp spot at 12, 6 and 4. So, does AI give Danny the pimp spot next week? Or do they say "f" it and just give it to Adam. Two songs each next week. Kris will likely open the show...but Jordin broke the opens-the show at F3--gets booted curse...so it doesn't have to mean an automatic boot.

I agree with you. Simon looked annoyed*. Kris is screwing up his plans. He's thinking about whether he would be happy with an Adam/Kris F3.And, if way back when Leno asked Randy and Simon who would win AI8 and they wrote down their guesses and sealed them in an envelope...and if Simon wrote down Kris...well, then I'll be flabbergasted. It would be the antipimp season! Really, though, AI should be happy because Kris and Danny are interchangeable as far as their F2 agenda goes. Either one is a juxtaposition for Adam. It screws them up if Adam goes out at F3, though. I may have to time the hometown packages next week to see if they give Adam 2x the screen time or some pimp like that, lol. ---------- *When they did the "humble" thing with Kris at the show's open I had a feeling he was safe because they wouldn't rag on him if he weren't. That's where Simon was showing his annoyance the most. I didn't want to post about it up there because I didn't want to spoil about Kris that far upthread.

111. "RE: Simon" |
I'm wondering if the general public is starting to realize what Simon does with his anti-pimps. His trashing of David Cook caused a huge voter backlash of fans who voted and voted for Cookie at the finale. I don't think Kris will win, but Simon's trashing of him last night probably rallied Kris's fans to vote. I was so angry with what Simon said last year that I voted many times and I don't usually do that. Last night I didn't have the time to vote, but if I did, I would have been dialing my fingers off for Kris. Even though it's the way AI operates, it still pisses me off that the judges comments are so scripted.

Amen to that! More Adam - less BS! He really does make the so-called professionals seem like amateurs compared to him. I would've been quite content if they'd filled the first half hour with nothing but Adam and Slash (now there's a duet that has to happen in the future!)

*MC and Adam share the swing*MC - Where's your little sister? Adam - She had to cut out. This town is too boring for her. She's young. The city lights are calling. You know how it is. MC - I know. Been there, done that. I like it here better. *Stranger swings open the screen door and walks purposefully onto the porch* MC - Heya Slash. Did you find something you liked. Slash - Oh yea, but it wasn't jewelry. MC - Adam, I'd like to introduce you to Slash. This could be the beginning of a wonderful thing. Why don't I pour us some beverages and we can hang out here on the porch tonight and cool down. Slash - Hey Adam. Nice eyeliner. Adam - Um, thanks. *Adam seems confused. He picks a spot on the stairs to settle* Slash - Great. Porch party. Let's get it on. *And as the dusk turns into dark, MC, Adam and Slash crack open the first bottle*

Disagree that Taylor had "many, many poor performances". I'm tired of defending Taylor for the last few years so I'm ignoring most of the Taylor bashing comments that still fly on these threads. I'll address them here, though. For the record (and to those comments, not yours), Taylor won. Which included an AI contract. Something happened and he chose (?) to go his own way, following a path that Clay had carved out. (I wonder to this day if he pissed off TPTB in some big way...like refusing to be put in a DIMYP box, perhaps?). AI/19 went out of their way to make sure that path did NOT work. They/their promotional suppliers placed negative PR, told radio stations NOT to play his songs, etc. Distribution was wonky while Chris D's was promoted at under $10 and was plentiful in stock. He wasn't even introduced on the show when he appeared at the finale the next year--he just came out and sang. (In comparison to how they treated every other returning AIer who was in the AI album fold). Simon and Ryan have dissed him repeatedly. Taylor made the most of his win that he could and did his own tour and took a big advance on a book. But then he learned about being out of the limelight and how much "awareness" means in terms of marketing your music. People won't buy an album that they don't know has been made. AI can deliver the "awareness" that there's a new album out there. Apparently, some truce has been made; some lesson learned. Taylor returned to the AI stage in a normal fashion and the judges paid tribute with their standing "O". I wonder what agreement was made because even Simon stood for him which to me was not about the performance but about burying the hatchet, perhaps? IDK, though, because I haven't been to the Taylor fan boards in some time. I've seen Taylor 4x in concert and enjoyed every one of them. He's a great entertainer but someone who is learning some life lessons the hard way.

OK, many were just average. Not really outstanding. My point was he had an audience base from the very beginning that never left him. So what if he won. That doesn't mean he was the best singer/performer, it means he was the most popular. In technical ability Katherine McPhee was superior. Do I think she should have won? No. I really have nothing against Taylor. I like the guy, but I wouldn't buy his music. At the time he auditioned for AI, he stood out as different, really different. I liked him throughout for his personality but was mostly disappointed by his performances. It's a Tribe!

After spending the whole season listening to the juvenile and asinine comments from the giant peanut gallery about the various contestants, I've had enough. If you have a life that is so empty and pathetic that all you can do is insult and assassinate people's character, family, and religion than why bother interacting with other human beings at all? Or you could try the adult perspective and comment solely on the performances alone( a novel approach). My wife and I are both fans of Danny's but fully expected he could easily be eliminated last night, after his botched attempt at "Dream On". But the more shocking thing was that Allison was eliminated, although her performance wasn't great it was better than both Danny and Kris. Kris was off key and looked the most awkward and uncomfortable I have seen him look all season. Danny started well, but had tried way too hard as the judges suggested on that song. All in all, based on talent, performance, and star quality I can't see how Adam would lose, unless it's based on personality, looks, or one of those other topics many on here are so focused on!
