This according to Paula on some radio show. What do you think? Have they ever done a true "Disco Theme"? They've done "The 70's", that i remember. Thoughts? I know Adam is more than likely excited. I know they did disco in season 2. I very much remember Kimberly Locke doing a great job on "It's raining men".
High trainwreck potential for everyone except Adam and maybe Allison. I see her doing "It's raining men" actually.
If Adam does "Lady Marmalade" I will love him even more than I do now. But, only if the save is still in play next week, 'cause he might just need it after that. (I will flove it guaranteed, but middle America, maybe not so much)

If I recall this theme has major train wreck potential. A lot of those songs are not nearly as easy to sing well as they would seem.

It was the first full season I ever watched of AI, and I almost didn't turn the show on again. It was horrific (and we're talking mostly women singing too, lol!).

I'm still rooting for her, and now would like to see her move ahead of Allison, especially since Simon's comment about Allison being the 'girl's only hope'. Lil's been having problems, but she didn't deserve that.

I disagree.
As is the case 95% of the time - Simon was correct. Lil has no chance of winning. She's been a total disappointment, and has never lived up to what she did in Hollywood or her audition. I'm wondering, due to the pre-top 36-hype, if she got a little case of Diva-Ego-Itis going into the top 36/13?

Actually, I think her problems began in Country Week. I think her confidence was shaken when the judges criticized her and she retreated into a "safe mode". That caused further problems for her, and things went downhill from there.
Anyway, I'd like to see Lil do a Donna Summer song or "It's Raining Men."

But Lil did a Tina Turner song, which should have been a slam dunk for her, and instead of really working it, she did a Tina impersonation.
Disco could be a good week for her, but if she tries to impersonate Donna Summer, I think it'll go bad again.
I like Lil, I wish she were performing better than she is, but she just isn't shining, and her competition is steep.

Lil should do "Let No Man Put Asunder" a disco song from the 70's originally sung by a group called First Choice and remade in the late 90's by Mary J Blige. Mary J Blige did an awesome job on the remake. This song would fit perfectly into the type of performer that Lil is or should be. But knowing her she'll pick something inappropiate and boring.

I remember Travis very well! I love that show and I loved that audition. It was fantastic.
And if Kris does "September" and does it well, then I might become at least a partial fan. That's one of my all-time favorite songs, and if he can do it, I'll definitely give him props (it would be good for his range, though.)
Matt should definitely do Andy Gibb (still one of my secret favorite singers from back in the day), but if Danny does anything by Barry White then, I'm sorry, but no one will ever be 'in the mood' again. Barry's too big for amateurs to touch.

I can definitely see Adam doing "That's the Way I Like It" - and doing it oh so well.
"Saturday Night" would be cute coming from Kris if he could just move around a little. (He even reminds me of the BCR's with his boyish face and puppy-dog eyes.)
And Danny? "I Will Survive" couldn't be more fitting for him. It might even remind him to stop being so damn maudlin and start at least trying to have fun.

I had this song on a 45 as a kid and played it to death. Great bass line, and sort of straddled disco and rock.
I would love to see someone try this song, and could see either Danny or Adam doing it well. Granted, the performance in the video below sucks the big one....

You are so right! They used to play that all the time at the rink i used to go to in the early 80's. They also used to play 'Saturday Night' by the Bay City Rollers a lot, and for some reason I remember Billy Squire's "The Stroke" as another favorite. go figure.

The Bay City Rollers instigated my love for men in kilts . Loved "Saturday Night". ELO's "Don't Bring Me Down" was another big roller skating rink song. Ahhh, good memories.
