Hi All -As i did in season two when i was rooting for Clay who then was the underdog in terms of 'image', this season i'm rooting for Scott. Like clay, the image initially is definately not there, but the voice outshines that image. Scott is who i'm backing this season. Thoughts? geekboy

Wow - I feel exactly the opposite. I can't stand him. His whole "street" persona seems like an act and I hate people who are phony. If anyone is an underdog at this stage it would be the finalists who had no screen time before Tuesday night (Sierra, Morena, Jared). How can they make it past the next round when so many of the others have already built up a fan base? I would think AI could do a better job with this.

Clay was fixable.... he went from this.... to this.....
little bit of a difference.
The only way Scott can improve is by going on "Extreme Makeover". Now, I must admit, I love his voice, and I hope he does well. But there isn't much anyone can do, to improve this guys image.

I agree, I was disappointed in him last nite, but I think he will make it bc there were others much worse last nite. ALso I think he is better known than others who were first "showcased" last nite. America knows Scott so that will help him in the votes this week...but he has to pick better songs in the next two weeks or he may not make it to finals. My favorite from last nite...BO what a surprise!! Constantine has nothing on this guy (except maybe a bit more "charisma" as Simon said) and what was Constantine thinking when he picked a Seal song????!!?? Mario was good too but I expected it. But I thought Bo was the best last nite. Mario a close 2nd. I was disappointed in Milli Vanilli and David they could do a lot better. Milli Vanilli was better than David but I did not like Moon River at all. David was too safe in his song choice. But again America knows these two and they will make it through this week IMO Tracheotomy Clay was HORRIBLE...but the teen girls will put him through at least this week. The other three...who?? 2 of these 3 will probably go, Nico is my guess to make it this week. The other two who I can't even remember their names will not, imo.

OMG! My 2 1/2 year old looked over at the TV just as Scott came on and actually screamed!! I had to calm her down! And I made my other daughter (who hadn't seen him yet) close her eyes to listen. When she opened them she jumped....i'm so sorry, but we've already seen him and no matter how good his voice is, "we can't get him out of our mind".

You guys must be joking, right? Your kids screamed? I find that hard to believe. So Scott is not GQ material, so what? I think we as a country are way too deep into the 'celebrity image' thing. Answer me this - how did Ruben win based on his 'body image'? I think Scott has a better voice than Ruben. geekboy

>I guess the thing that really >struck me as harsh was >when niteowl said that her >2 1/2 year old was >scared by his looks and >even screamed! Then it just >went downhill from there. Well you never can tell what kids are thinking or how they will react to things, it's usually (99.9%) not malicious, but it can be embarrassing among other things because they haven't been taught how to hide reactions yet. I struggled with what to do with my own child.. for example when he watched a women take her leg off at the gym. He stared, he asked me about it (he was about 4) and I told him to go ask her about it, he did and he came back and said 'she's nice, her leg bone got really sick so they had to take it off so she wouldn't get sick' they became buddy's. Currently he is around many brain injured people who can often look spastic and weird because of paralysis etc. He accepts these people as is. My point is it's not that this guy is 'different' that I said the things I did, it's something else that (maybe only I) react to with him. Anyway I zipping my lips because I don't want to encourage any more discord about it. > >We don't all have to agree >around here. As a matter >of fact, it would be >boring if we all had >the same thoughts. I just >thought somethings that were said >was very harsh. Hell, I >am glad I am not >on one of these shows >because I would hate to >see what would be said >about me! Well I would compare my singing to scat girl's -really bad! That being said thanks for agreeing to disagree!

In my defense: All I said was that my toddler screamed when he came on the screen. She does that for some of those creepy things on shows like "Buffy" (commercials...) and if she sees a distorted face, like some of the faces in weird animation, even "Rugrats". I didn't say anything, and I think little kids are naturally drawn to symmetry and pleasant faces. (aren't we all....?) If he has a sweet personality and pleasant demeanor, then he should get it out there, it does not come through and he comes off as "creepy".

It's not his looks that is turning me off of him. It's his attitude and the look he is creating with that attitude.
I do still enjoy his voice, so I'll just close my eyes from now on when he's on stage.

Scott is....well, different. He is not attractive in the least. There really isn't much anyone can do to improve this guys looks. He has a bad attitude, like he is above it all, but in the end, does all this matter? You betcha! Image and personality is everything in my opinion, and if you don't have all three things (image, personality, talent)you are not going to be the next AI. Only time will tell Geekboy. He could amaze everyone, and over the weeks develope an outstanding personality. He certaintly has the voice.

o Scott..Not idol material. If you close your eyes he can sing but he doen't have the whole package, personality. He seems to just have a chip on his shoulder. This poor boy whose dad didn't care about him out to prove him wrong. Which there is nothing wrong with that but there are enough artist out there with that attitude. They should give some personality test and "Ability to be a Role Model" test for the pass these people off on us.

LAST EDITED ON 02-28-05 AT 11:08 AM (EST)Read the prior post I have read the entire thread! I think personality and attitude are things that are very fixable. If Scott wants to be the next American Idol as bad as he thinks he does...he will do whatever it takes to do it. Just like Clay did! ETA: Before someone tries to inform me that Clay didn't win...I know he came in second.

I LOVE Scott's voice. I am rooting for him.But....... he's got to refine his attitude. The street-hillbilly talk isn't going to wash. And he needs a wardrobe/style adjustment. He's a bit scary. That being said, if they can help him with his image, I think he'll do well. His voice is outstanding and it always amazes me, everytime he starts to sing, that that voice is coming out of that face. ;)

They have been talking up Scott here in Cleveland. His whole family looks like him. I guess he had a bad childhood and there was many family disturbances when he was a kid. He has a great voice, but most people don't vote on voice alone.

I am getting a tad...upset, just reading some of the things on here.I will clarify before I go on a bit of a tangent here, that I don't think Scott has a shot in hell at winning due to his image and some people's personalities towards such a thing. Even with last season, Jennifer Hudson, inexplicably, got booted in 6th place IIRC. I think it's rare occurence when either a women with some bulk or an ugly man will have a shot at this (although, I could very well be wrong. I don't have the basis to really definitively say this) competition. As for Scott... We have no clue what we are talking about. It seems like this topic has turned into a judging of a person's personality, demeanor, and self-being based purely on a 3 minute performance and his image alone. He is not an attractive man, and really, there isn't a whole lot he can do about it (unlike Clay). However, we can judge the type of role model he would be by his image and stage presence? I don't see how we can define the guy as mad at the world just because he has that look naturally (from what I can see, I'm not sure). What does looking like a TV criminal have to do with anything? When Constantine is in the wrong camera angle, he has a murderous look in his eye and Bo looks like a stereotypical 60's hippie, and that really means jack ****. Personally, I don't vote or see this as a whole package type of thing. If I wanted something to ogle at, there are plenty of pop stars out there I could stare at for days. I don't see why a person should change his natural look or personality just because he's on American Idol, and FWIW, if he starts smiling for the camera and acting like Ruben did naturally, he's losing my vote. I think a great quality of his personality is the ability to just wipe away the appearence cracks Simon likes to lay upon him.

I think Scott Savol is the victim of negative editing.Every week after AI the local FOX channel in Cleveland goes to his family's house. His family seems really nice and very supportive, especially his mom and dad. His dad mentioned last night they are making the trip to Hollywood right after Easter- March 27. Why would they be waiting that long? What if he gets voted off before then?
