frncswts 2 desperate attention whore postings DAW Level: "American Cancer Society Spokesperson" 05-22-08, 00:46 AM (EST) "Anyone have problems when voting?" I just finished watching the finale and am shocked that Cook won. Then I remembered last night when I was voting for Archuleta, that I ended up voting 5 times. The reason is the first time I voted I pressed 02 and the message said thank you for voting for contestant #1. I had to look at my phone to make sure I pressed the right number. I did and I called again this time pressing 06 and the message said thank you for voting for contestant #2. To make up for my first call I decided to vote again and pressed 06, then I heard thank you for voting for contestant #1. What the hell! so I voted again using 02 again and I got thank you for voting for contestant #2. At this point I somehow voted (unintentionally) for cook twice so I voted one last time and pressed 04. Thank God it worked for Archuleta. Has anyone else experienced this? Was Cook actually the winner or was it due to the screwed up phone system?   Top

Yes, Cook was the real winner. I didn't have any problems, but I was voting for Cook. I haven't seen widespread reports of problems, and the results mentioned on the show were about what Dial Idol found from thousands of people voting for both people. The Cook fan boards were afire with a lot of anger Tuesday over his being tossed under the bus by the judges when he wasn't nearly as terrible as they made him out to be. (which Simon apologized for after watching the play backs). Most of the Cook fans that were angry as heck were also old enough to stay up to vote the full four hours. It seems a lot of Archuleta's fan base are young enough that I'm not sure how many parents let them stay up until 1 am (although he has some older fans as well). Archuleta fans may have also fallen into the "assume the win". Especially if they haven't been following the voting to see that David Cook had the highest totals on Dial Idol for the last several weeks by the kinds of margins we saw last night.   Top

Well, I don't know any Archie's fans, and I haven't read that anywhere else. The only thing that was screwed up that night was Simon's brain, and as you know, he apologized for it.
