geekboy 1788 desperate attention whore postings DAW Level: "Herbal Healing Drugs Endorser" 03-07-08, 10:00 AM (EST) "Top 12 "Word Association"" Now that we have our top 12, i thought a fun exercise would be to see what everything thinks about each contestant at this point. What i would like you to do is list the Top 12, then after each name, write a couple words or phrases that come to mind when you think of each contestant. Just that simple. I'll start out, and I'm sure you find a few that are NOT my favorites. David Cook - Rocker, original, creative, David Archuletta - young, God-given voice, inevitable bad week(s) could be painful to watch Jason Castro - Original, shy, amazing vocals when he chooses the right song Brooke White - innocent, the unique vocals of the season, will go far Syesha Mercado - unoriginal, ego, screamer David Herandez - best male vocals, dark horse, good interpreter Michael Johns - vibrato from hell, not a favorite of mine Ramiele Malubay - incredible vocals, horrific song choices so far Carly Smithson - great vocals, needs to find her niche to stand out, improving week by week Amanda Overmyer - The original of the season, have to get over her nerves, has to pick the perfect song week after week Kristy Lee Cook - Lucky to be in top 12, weakest of the 12 Chikezie Eze - Lucky to be in top 12, inconsistant, potential geekboy "I love puppies!" - S. So far Jason and Brooke are my favorites, even if I can be a bit snarky about them sometimes. Agman's like a brother, Your best friend forever, Making the sigs, the sigs that you like.   Top

David A-talented; does well on material he has had in his wheelhouse for years; breathing problems becoming more apparent in performing; can he handle the rigorous schedule? How many times will he have to do completely new material? Early pimping takes him to F4, imo. David C--dark horse; rocker with attitude; has bigger burdens than how far he goes with Idol (his older brother has cancer); I'm rooting for him--he is definite for a DVR rewind. Hope he is in top 4. David H--nice voice but unexciting. Now that his "secret" is out maybe he will seem more natural on stage. His performances have not yet made me rewind the DVR to see them again. I see him in the middle of the pack. Michael J--he is hot. Glad there is someone for us ladies. Underwhelming in performances two of the last three weeks. Hope he has intentionally been holding back some or he won't make it to the final four. I'm rooting for him, too, and he is a definite DVR rewind for me. Carly S--I can see her on Broadway. Talented, good vocal control. Just doesn't spark me at all yet. Not sure if she is holding back...hope so. Glad she is holding up the standard for talent for the girls, though, because the line of talent seems thin after the last couple of years for the girls. She should be top 4. Brooke W--nice alternative singer. I don't think she can win but I look forward to her performances. Hope she continues to develop; I think she is in the middle of the pack. Chikeze--sometimes he's got it and sometimes he doesn't. He is one clunker performance away from the boot. Hope he makes it to the tour. Syesha--attitude, attitude, attitude! (say it like "Attica! Attica! Attica!"). Diva light. Early to middle of the pack boot? Ramiele--I have liked two of her three performances. Last one sounded like kareoke. Wonder if she is getting overwhelmed? Hope she makes the top 6 but don't know if she is getting the right coaching. Jason C--what a nice surprise. Hope he continues to develop. Doubt he can win. Look forward to his performances and he is a DVR rewinder. Middle of the pack, perhaps? Top 6? Kristy Lee--getting shoved down our throats. IMO they are desperate for her place as well as Pickler did. I think she is an earlier boot from the pack unless she has a couple of "wow" performances. Amanda--deer in headlights. They need to just let Amanda be Amanda. Enjoy her. Mid pack performer, better than previous rocker girls. If she has another clunker performance then she could get an early boot.   Top

Carly Smithson - terrefic voice and a great performer 2. Syesha Mercado - great voice needs to connect to audience 3. David Cook - a real singer with emotion & self confidence 4. Amanda Overmyer - sounded like Rod Stewart, great stage presence, a good rock singer but don't like her hair style (too colorful) 5. David Archuleta - very likable person, but not much self confidence, needs to stop licking his lips in between lyrics 6. Michael Johns - not giving his all when he performs but great vocals 7. Jason Castro - he's unique, time to cut those curly long hair for a change, might look better 8. Kristy Lee Cook - amazing voice but got to have that self confidence 9. Ramielle Malubay- great voice but aloof & not a performer 10. Brook White - her voice is only good on country songs 11. Chikezie - a Ruben Studdard version, I like his personality though   Top

What a fun game! Now I can say what I feel without basing it on just the performance! Yea! Carly--I love the Irish accent! And her mom it adorable. Oh yeah, great singer. David C.--Just get someone to style the hair better and I would like him more. Syesha--Eh, I forget who she is all the time. Brooke--If only they would just show her singing and nothing else I might like her. Chikezie--I really don't know. Ramiele--She has a great voice but something is missing something when she performs. Jason--so adorable, seems genuine. Michael--Cute boy, I like him about half the time. David A.--I really don't get this kid. Amanda--stop smoking, it does not make her voice sexy/husky, just icky. Kristy--Her voice is really NOT good. Also, there is a show for country singers so people like me who really, really don't like country music don't have to listen to you butcher non-country songs. (and I know there is a show for rock stars but as I like rock music I don't mind if rock singers end up on AI. I know that is prejudice against country singers but this is my rant and I am okay with that!)   Top

David Archuleta - Jon Secada - VERY rehearsed and artificial. Sings songs that a 17 year old has no bizness singing. Great vocals though. Processed and packaged. The only question is- are we buying? 2. Jason Castro - Arlo Guthrie - Yeah, a throwback. Folksy-singer much like Brooke. Talented and charismatic but limited in what he can do. 3. David Cook - Chris Daughtry - Without the maturity, humility or down-home feel of Daughtry. Not as good a singer either, but same front man of a rock band persona. Basically low register singer in the Scott Weiland/ Eddie Vedder mold. Creative and confident, but also limited in what he can do. 4. Krista Lee Cook - Linda Carter - Countryfied girl whose decent but not stunning looks has gotten her, pretty much thru default, the Haley Scarnato label and resulting female vehemence. She has made no effort to use sexuality to advance, unfortunately, and actually sings quite wonderfully. She is having a hard time trying to countrify every song though, and some have led to disastrous results. 5. Chikezie Eze - ? - You want to talk about unique. Who can you compare this guy to? Some have said Luther, but Chikezie comes off more as a goofball than a soulful singer. I would say he is Anthony Anderson (the actor) with great singing talent. 6. David Hernandez - Mark Anthony - Without the cocksure attitude. In fact, I'm not sure David has settled completely who he is. Talented guy though. 7. Michael Johns - Jim Morrison - The comparison is obvious. Bluesy rock is his thing, but he has had the guts to go outside of that and has suffered. He is also handicapped by an amazing Hollywood performance, which has made all his performances since seem disappointing. 8. Ramiele Malubey - Jordan Sparks - Even cuter than Jordan, but just as inexperienced or worse. She has maybe the best voice of the 12, but her youth and lack of training put her at a disadvantage against polished performers. Also doesn't help her that Jordan just won last season. 9. Syesha Mercado - Anita Brown - Diva-like but better with the lower register than the big notes. If Melinda couldn't win this, then this girl has no chance. 10. Amanda Obermeyer - Joan Jett - Obviously. She has the southern rock thing down though her voice is actually more like Janis Joplin. She is somewhat the female version of David C; they are both limited soundwise. 11. Carly Smithson - Anne Wilson - Strong voice with so-so charisma, which was Anne's resume as well. She is better with the big notes than she is with melody. 12. Brooke White - Carly Simon - Better looking than Carly, otherwise the comparison is obvious. She is sort of the female version of Jason; they are both folksy artists who are limited in what they can do. >   Top
