coming from a "leftist"- if a leftist has a problem with his rantings, its not because he supports the war, it's WHY! and what he said...commenting that he would line up "all 15 countries" and take them out...as if each country is the same...wanting cheaper gas is not a reason to invade a country...seems a bit imperialist, no? (finally, his jokes were flying by so fast, but i thought i noted some inaccuracies in his jokes related to the various middle eastern cultures-i could be wrong about that).
I was DISGUSTED with Ralphie's set for the reason you liked it. that he had "tapped into the mood of the american public" ...was he being satirical, i hope? but there wasn't enough in his delivery to indicate that, and that hurt. i think the audience really believed him, and they bought it, and (as my friends from other countries have mentioned to me) demonstrated the typical egocentric, ignorance-is-bliss, it's-all-so-very-black-and-white kill-every-last-one-of-em "mood of the american public." as soon as he said that line about "all 15 countries" i knew people had really stopped listening.
i actually support the war, but not so we get cheaper oil (although i believe that IS why we got into it) i am not bitter, i have a sense of humor. please don't feel that every liberal blindly opposes the war. you're right, we are in the vast minority, which is why we have to shout that much louder and seem that much meaner.
finally, to be fair, ralphie has been my favorite up til this show. I think he is very talented, although his repetitions are a little much. i was just very dissapointed with tonight's show.
