Okay, this is my evaluation of tonight's show, so Left Coasters need to respect the filler that I'm putting in here now. If you click here, you WILL get my expert analysis before you actually see the show.Okay, enough?
Ralphie May - the winner by FAR. I was coming out of my seat I was laughing so hard, and your Iron Dawg just isn't that easy to impress.
"LINE 'EM UP!!!" He was just hilarous, whether "going off" on his rant or his prepared jokes. It looked natural, it was funny, it was part and parcel with today's times (note to shakes: Unlike Dave Mordal, Ralphie did a GOOD job with Mideast humor). Not to mention that I agreed with what Ralphie said , but he really was the best.
Dat Phan - I was disappointed. I've seen him do better. He forewent the physical humor, went back to the "my mom" humor. Bad move, Dat. You're almost making Bebo sound right about you.
Tess - So sorry, but I expected more. She just didn't get there for me. I dunno, the stripper jokes and such just didn't ring. Everyone else was cleaner.
Rich Vos - The only thing I can really say about him (beside the fact that he barely made me laugh), was that his material looked and sounded like every other comic out there. Very milquetoast, very run of the mill, very ordinary, very "easy to fade into the background of thousands". He wasn't BAD, but he just didn't stand out from any act you can see at your local Comedy Club.
Cory Kahain - her material had potential... but then seemed to let down with the punchlines. I'm sure that the women of this board (*waves at Bebo*) enjoyed her material more than I did. She wasn't BAD, but I was hoping for more, and I'm sure she has more within her.
If Ralphie doesn't win, then he wuz robbed and jobbed!
