Not quite the Clay Aiken moment, but she was powerfully impressive. I do recall, however, declaring Cassie LeBeau the winner last season. She had a beautiful audition singing the first two lines of "Stormy Weather." Simon cut her off and told her immediately she was going to Hollywood. Turned out Cassie LeBeau could never learn more than two lines of anything, and she didn't make the finals.
I bet she kills at karaoke.
These reality show contestants need a reality check!

It has to be an AI first. I was glad she did - when Simon said no to that no talent and Randy inexplicably said yes (Sometimes I wish they would explain why - Randy didn't even seem to like the guy, thought he was too affected) I thought for sure Paula would follow Randy's example. She finally got one right. I don't even think they should have let his teacher through.

you should watch it vols..... some of it makes for good entertainment..... I wish they could find a way to weed out those that dont take the competition seriously though. Anybody who claps their hands, jumps up and down, and slaps their own butt while trying to sing.... shouldnt even be given the time on the air. As Simon would say.... "excruciating"......

I think it was the uniqueness of her voice. If I remember right, thats the same train of thought that got Fantasia through at the first, the uniqueness of her cartoon voice, and thats what america liked (most of america I guess) .... anyway.... no fear... as I said in post 15 ....... Carrie Underwood will be the next American Idol
