LAST EDITED ON 10-21-04 AT 01:23 PM (EST) well, the official site has their Ep 5 summary up, http://abc.go.com/primetime/lost/episodes/2004-05/5.html but I'm good at quick, so here goes: "White Rabbit" (this recap is Not in chronological order) Jack continues to chase the man in suit & white sneakers - it IS his father, who Jack went to look for in Australia, it turns out he died in australia, and Jack was bringing the body back to US. Everyone is helpless and depends on Jack, who is reluctant to make decisions and be a leader (shown in flashbacks, his father is an important surgeon and belittles Jack for not "having what it takes" to make decisions, etc.). So, we start the episode with all the people calling for Jack to save a drowning swimmer (unknown female castaway), while they stand on the beach waiting for him. So, he goes out and finds a person under water - but it's just Boone, and he must decide whether to get Boone back to shore (without anyone's help) or drop him and go out farther to get the lady. He takes boone and later Kate tells us that the lady didn't make it. Also, they are running out of bottled water (cause no one thought to save up the rain except Locke), and the leaders (jack, kate, charlie, hurley) decide to not tell anyone and hide the water (which is later stolen anyways). Locke decides he'll go in the forest to find some water (off of branches & stuff). No one helps. Jack hasn't had much sleep, and he decides to go chasing off after Ghost daddy. Which he does, and ends up running and falling over a cliff - but he's hanging on by a thread! what a shocker, and then there is a hand reaching out to help him (we knew Jack wouldn't die, right?), and is it his ghost father's hand? No, silly. It's Locke (the other hero), and so Jack and Locke discuss the father thing, locke tells him that he's chasing a white rabbit, and that he should continue until he finds it (nevermind that the people on the beach may need him for some lifesaving operation or baby-delivery). eventually Jack follows daddy to find a waterfall (or fresh water source?) and then more plane wreckage, including some porcelin dolls, and then his fathers coffin, which is empty (thus, no closure for Jack), and Jack gets angry, beating the coffin to smithereens, and making quite the noisy ruckus, which is shown getting the attention of the "monster" or whatever. Charlie is nice to Claire. Boone is found to be the water-thief. And Jack returns, and declares himself "Lord of the Flies". tada. ETA: Oh, yeah, and Locke tells Jack that he "looked into the Eye of the island and it was beautiful". He mentions magic, too, I think.   Top

So Jack's dad is missing from the coffin and the spackling white sneaker guy is Jack's dad? Ewwwww spooky.
