I think seahorse's last sentence was the key point. She did not direct them on how to do their task. Any person can delegate responsibility on a wide open task. If the main point of a project manager was to delegate responsibility, Todd would have been a great leader. I could tell person x to manage realm 1 of a project, person y to manage realm 2, etc. When Chris and John specifically called Audrey for advice on what to do specifically, she re-delegated it to John, which sealed her fate if they lost.
How much did she do throughout the whole episode other than argue with John? I know her and her crew picked out the costumes for the gimmick of the course (clowns? Chris was a scary clown.), but what else did they do? Sure, the advertising was piss poor, I don't think many people would deny that, but that can fall on the head of the PM as well. What's more important? Clown suits or getting people to the course? If it was as bad as she said, I would think that a competent leader would go over there and re-delegate assignments and take it into her own hands.
John and Craig definitely have some blame to take and she was right to take them into the board room. However, it was just a poor job done. Team Magna dominated the pier, and although she delegated responsibility, not a single person (outside of maybe Angie) seemed to show her the respect that other leaders have received and there were no concrete plans. Magna got out and made exclusive deals that helped propel them to victory, and both John and Audrey shoulder blame for not getting anywhere near that and having to lowball for business. However, when you have anyone who is talking taking the side of John on the whole, Audrey's emotional outburst at the beginning of the episode, and the fact that John has emerged as a favorite while Audrey was a boot target prior to this episode and was viewed as a weak link, it was the firing that had to be made.
Audrey did the worst possible thing this episode: she took the PM role when she had at least two team members (Chris and John) who were not big fans of her, after an emotional outburst no less. How often is a person (in the middle of the game) flat out denied the "yay" vote of being a PM by a player who doesn't want to be PM? Who wanted a ticking time bomb to be PM?
