I really like Brandon, I think he's really good, but I'm starting to think his voice is just alot smaller than I originally figured - that's not a bad thing if he can pour it out there, but in this season of divas - that may hurt him.
BUT - blew lyrics, voice cracked. I wouldn't toss him for that, but I think he's in trouble.

I thought the arrangement was a really good effort. At times, it really worked, but other times not so much. His vocals were strong, though.
Just as a side note, we all know 100% if Sligh sang the heck out of the song in it's original arrangement (which we know he could have), the judges would have been all over him for NOT MAKING IT HIS OWN.
So, A for effort, C+ for execution. On a super boring night like last night was (seriously, I was nodding off) at least Sligh & Blake tried to keep things interesting.

Haley is very beautiful, but she has a tendency to "eat" the microphone, with it hiding most of her face. She started out soft, and got stronger. Not bad, but not great.

His arrangement is much more successful than Chris S's, but still not a great fit. It sounded kinda twitchy.
I agree with what Randy was saying about messing with it too much - but you know if he didn't rearrange it at all he would have been nailed for that.

These kids have to really, really look at the lyrics and listen to the originals. This song has a very desperate feel to it. Making it more "electronic" didn't really fit.
Flake is safe, though. He can afford to take the risk.

I was right-on with the judges until the end. Am I the only one left scratching their head after Jordin's performance and listening to the gushing praise? What the ... ??
I was listening to her and saying to my wife "She belongs at Disney. She did 'Reflections', now this bizarro Disney-ish song i've never heard...' and i am wondering why they gave her the pimp spot...
And then the bizarro praise from all three? I don't get that one.
I have to digest this overnight before making any predictions because even Haley looked good tonight.

This week was so freaking boring. Gah! I got more excited about seeing Nathan Fillion in the Drive commercial than by any of the performances tonight. I mean, Drive looks like it's going to suck, but MAL!!! *sigh*
Lakisha had an amazing performance, but white satin doesn't do TV. I'm sure the dress was gorgeous IRL.
Melinda sang well, but picked a boring song. Did I mention I was bored tonight?
Gina sang slightly less well, but at least she was less boring. I actually enjoyed listening to this one. I'd put her second on my list for that reason.
And, that's it. Everyone else was horrible or totally unremarkable. At this point, I'm not even sure I'll watch next week.
ETA: I'm also not happy that 2 long hours of AI meant no House this week. That wasn't a good trade!

Honestly? I was in such a coma from the rest of the evening that I don't even remember her singing. Nothing. Nada. Not to mention she sang after Chris R. who made me go temporarily deaf for a few hours.
The only thing I can think of is that they "know" they have too many divas this year and they had to chose between her and Stephanie to get that spot to save them.
In a sense it was the type of songs I think that bored me but it was also the singers themselves. Chris D. could have sang the ABC's to me last year and I would have been riveted. Noone this year grabs me and I'm sooooo disappointed in that fact.

I have to agree with you completely. Last night, except for Melinda and Lakisha, it was a complete bore.
Chris Sligh let me down bigtime. Up until now, he has been the master at song selection, and i can't for the life of me figure out WHY he chose the dreck of "Endless Love". I give him props for trying to Coldplay it...but it DID.NOT.WORK. Same for Blake.
The crop this year is bizarre. On one hand, they are not at the usual talent level that AI finds, but on the other hand, there is a great mix of styles and they are alot more contemporary than usual years. So far, i've heard a lot less repeating of songs from previous years, and we've heard songs we've NEVER heard on AI before. That is good...but when sung poorly...so what?
I'm on the fence at this point. Perhaps the first year where i'm pretty much let down all season?
